  • Markdown instructions

A SKILL.md file the model loads on demand, so it only costs tokens when a request actually matches.

  • Works with any LLM

AI skills are plain Markdown, not provider-specific code, so this works with GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model.

  • Self-contained

Everything the model needs lives in the instructions — no extra files to sync.

  • Open source

Published by aicodeking on GitHub. Read the source before you install it.

Installation

Install the Ds Design Audit AI skill in TypingMind to use it with any LLM, or drop it into another agent that reads SKILL.md.

1

Install in TypingMind

TypingMind installs a skill straight from its GitHub folder — it reads SKILL.md, bundles the resource files, and stores the result locally.

  1. Open the app and go to Plugins → Skills.
  2. Choose "Install from GitHub".
  3. Paste the skill folder URL below and confirm.
    https://github.com/aicodeking/deepseek-stack/tree/main/skills/ds-design-audit
  4. Enable the skill in any chat where you want it available.
Plugins → Skills → Add skill → From GitHub URL, then paste the folder URL and press Continue.
2

Install in another agent

Any agent that reads the Agent Skills format can use this skill — copy the folder into that agent's skills directory.

Claude Code — .claude/skills
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/aicodeking/deepseek-stack.git /tmp/deepseek-stack
mkdir -p .claude/skills
cp -r /tmp/deepseek-stack/skills/ds-design-audit .claude/skills/ds-design-audit
Restart Claude Code after copying so it picks up the new skill.

Use it in TypingMind

Enable Ds Design Audit in any TypingMind chat and the model takes it from there. Its name and description sit in the system prompt, and the moment a request matches, the model loads the full instructions itself — you never invoke it by hand, and it costs no tokens until it is actually used.

The model loads Ds Design Audit on its own as soon as a request matches it.

Works with any AI model

AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so Ds Design Audit is not tied to the model it was written for. Install it once in TypingMind and use it with GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama, or a local model you run yourself — all on your own API keys.

  • Loaded only when it is needed

The system prompt carries just the name and description. The instructions are fetched on the first matching request, so an idle skill costs nothing.

  • Switch models mid-chat

Because the skill is instructions rather than code, changing model does not break it — the next model reads the same SKILL.md.

Skill instructions

This is the SKILL.md content the model loads. Read it before installing — a skill is instructions your model will follow.

Score a UI from what is on the screen, fix the worst problems, and show that the fixes work.

Steps

  1. Identify the target file or URL and render it. If it does not render, report this and stop. Do not audit from the source code alone.
  2. Take screenshots of the first viewport and the full page at about 1440px and 390px wide. Also capture the hover, focus, empty, loading, and error states where you can.
  3. Read the target's code: tokens, fonts, colors, focus styles, media queries, and copy.
  4. Give each area a score from 1 to 5. Give one line of evidence for each score: something visible or a line of code.
    • Hierarchy: the main message and action are clear within 3 seconds, and there is one focal point.
    • Typography: the fonts are paired on purpose, the scale is consistent, and the line length and leading are correct.
    • Color: there is one dominant color and one accent, the colors are tokens and not scattered hex values, and there are no decorative gradients.
    • Spacing: the spacing follows a scale, the rhythm is consistent, and the mobile alignment is correct.
    • States: hover, focus, empty, loading, error, and long-content states all exist.
    • Accessibility: the contrast is 4.5:1 or higher, the focus rings are visible, the fields have labels, the touch targets are 44px, and reduced motion is respected.
    • Copy: the copy is specific to the product, with no stock phrases and no placeholder data.
  5. Record each banned default that you see: purple-blue gradients, a default font used for display, emoji used as icons, a centered hero with three identical cards, glassmorphism everywhere, gray text on gray, and generic copy.
  6. Rank the fixes by their impact on users. Put broken accessibility and an unclear main action first. Put decoration last. For each fix, give the file, the change, and the score that it raises.
  7. Apply the top 3 to 5 fixes. Fix the cause in the tokens or in the shared components, not in each instance. Keep the identity, content, and behavior of the product.
  8. Take new screenshots at the same widths and in the same states as in step 2. Score each area again and show the before and after scores side by side.
  9. If an area still has a score of 2 or lower, or a banned default remains, repeat steps 6 to 8 once. Do not do more than two passes.

Stop when

  • Two passes are complete, or every area has a score of 3 or higher and no banned default remains.
  • The report shows the before and after scores, the evidence, the fixes that you applied, and the fixes that you did not apply, each with a reason.

Rules

  • Do not give a score without evidence. If you could not see an area, mark it "not checked" and give the reason.
  • Do not change factual copy, prices, claims, or feature behavior without asking.
  • If the brief requires a style that this skill would flag, it is not a fault.
  • If the UI needs a full rebuild, recommend /ds-design. Do not rebuild it in this skill.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Ds Design Audit AI skill do?

Reviews an existing UI with scores based on evidence, then fixes the highest-impact problems. Use when a page or app screen looks generic, cluttered, or unfinished, or before you ship UI work. Run as /ds-design-audit.

Why use Ds Design Audit on TypingMind?

Because you install it once and use it with any model. Ds Design Audit is plain Markdown rather than provider-specific code, so the same skill runs on GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model — and you can switch model mid-chat without it breaking. TypingMind runs on your own API keys, so you pay providers directly instead of a per-seat subscription, and your skills and chats stay in your own storage.

How do I install Ds Design Audit in TypingMind?

Open Plugins → Skills → Install from GitHub in TypingMind and paste https://github.com/aicodeking/deepseek-stack/tree/main/skills/ds-design-audit. TypingMind reads its SKILL.md and installs it as a skill you can enable per chat.

Which AI models can use Ds Design Audit?

Any model you connect in TypingMind. AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, and local models can all load this skill when a request matches it.

How many AI models can I use with Ds Design Audit?

As many as you like. As long as a model supports skills, you can use Ds Design Audit with it — GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama and more — all on TypingMind with your own API keys.

Is the Ds Design Audit AI skill free?

Yes. It is published on GitHub by aicodeking under the MIT license. You only pay your own AI provider for the tokens you use.

What are AI skills?

An AI skill is a reusable instruction bundle that teaches an AI model how to do one specific task. It follows the open Agent Skills format: a SKILL.md file with a name and description, plus any scripts, templates or reference files the model may need. The model reads the instructions only when your request matches the skill, so an installed skill costs nothing until it is used.

How are AI skills different from plugins or MCP servers?

A plugin or MCP server gives a model new tools to call — code that runs somewhere and returns a result. An AI skill gives the model knowledge and process instead: how to approach a task, which steps to follow, what good output looks like. Skills are plain Markdown, so they need no server, no API key and no runtime, and they work with any model.
