  • Markdown instructions

A SKILL.md file the model loads on demand, so it only costs tokens when a request actually matches.

  • Works with any LLM

AI skills are plain Markdown, not provider-specific code, so this works with GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model.

  • Self-contained

Everything the model needs lives in the instructions — no extra files to sync.

  • Open source

Published by aircrushin on GitHub. Read the source before you install it.

Installation

Install the Promptminder Cli AI skill in TypingMind to use it with any LLM, or drop it into another agent that reads SKILL.md.

1

Install in TypingMind

TypingMind installs a skill straight from its GitHub folder — it reads SKILL.md, bundles the resource files, and stores the result locally.

  1. Open the app and go to Plugins → Skills.
  2. Choose "Install from GitHub".
  3. Paste the skill folder URL below and confirm.
  4. Enable the skill in any chat where you want it available.
Plugins → Skills → Add skill → From GitHub URL, then paste the folder URL and press Continue.
2

Install in another agent

Any agent that reads the Agent Skills format can use this skill — copy the folder into that agent's skills directory.

Claude Code — .claude/skills
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/aircrushin/promptMinder.git /tmp/promptMinder
mkdir -p .claude/skills
cp -r /tmp/promptMinder/packages/promptminder-cli/skills/promptminder-cli .claude/skills/promptminder-cli
Restart Claude Code after copying so it picks up the new skill.

Use it in TypingMind

Enable Promptminder Cli in any TypingMind chat and the model takes it from there. Its name and description sit in the system prompt, and the moment a request matches, the model loads the full instructions itself — you never invoke it by hand, and it costs no tokens until it is actually used.

The model loads Promptminder Cli on its own as soon as a request matches it.

Works with any AI model

AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so Promptminder Cli is not tied to the model it was written for. Install it once in TypingMind and use it with GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama, or a local model you run yourself — all on your own API keys.

  • Loaded only when it is needed

The system prompt carries just the name and description. The instructions are fetched on the first matching request, so an idle skill costs nothing.

  • Switch models mid-chat

Because the skill is instructions rather than code, changing model does not break it — the next model reads the same SKILL.md.

Skill instructions

This is the SKILL.md content the model loads. Read it before installing — a skill is instructions your model will follow.

PromptMinder CLI

Overview

promptminder is a JSON-in / JSON-out CLI for managing prompts, tags, and teams via the PromptMinder API. Every success response goes to stdout; every error goes to stderr as {"error":{"message":"...","status":null}}.

Requires Node.js ≥ 20. Install the CLI first:

bash
npm i -g @aircrushin/promptminder-cli

To update, run npm i -g @aircrushin/promptminder-cli@latest; check the installed version with npm list -g @aircrushin/promptminder-cli --depth=0.

Auth and Token

Choose environment auth or local login; either is sufficient. An old PROMPTMINDER_TOKEN overrides a newly saved login.

Token resolution order: --token flag -> PROMPTMINDER_TOKEN env var -> saved config.

bash
# One-time interactive login (saves token to ~/.promptminder/config.json)
promptminder auth login --token pm_xxx

# CI / scripts: prefer env var, no saved state needed
export PROMPTMINDER_TOKEN=pm_xxx
promptminder prompt list

promptminder auth logout removes only the saved token, not PROMPTMINDER_TOKEN.

Quick Reference

text
promptminder auth login --token <token>
promptminder team list
promptminder prompt list [--team <id>] [--tag <tag>] [--search <text>] [--page <n>] [--limit <n>]
promptminder prompt get <id> [--team <id>]
promptminder prompt create --title <text> --content <text> [--description <text>] [--tags <csv>] [--version <text>] [--team <id>]
promptminder prompt update <id> [--title <text>] [--content <text>] [--team <id>]
promptminder prompt delete <id> --yes [--team <id>]
promptminder tag list [--team <id>] [--include-public <true|false>]
promptminder tag create --name <text> [--team <id>]
promptminder tag update <id> --name <text> [--team <id>]
promptminder tag delete <id> --yes [--team <id>]

Run promptminder help for up-to-date full usage.

Team Scoping

Pass --team <uuid> to target a non-personal workspace. Omitting --team targets the personal workspace. The flag is always --team, never --team-id.

bash
promptminder prompt list --team team-uuid-xyz

Content Input Sources

prompt create and prompt update accept content three ways - use exactly one:

FlagWhen to use
--content "..."Inline short text
--content-file path/to/file.txtContent from a local file
--stdinPipe content from another command

Agent Wrapper (promptminder-agent)

Use promptminder-agent in scripts and AI agent pipelines. Actions use dot notation, not space-separated subcommands. Input is a single --input JSON object, not individual flags.

bash
# List prompts
promptminder-agent prompt.list

# Get a specific prompt
promptminder-agent prompt.get --input '{"id":"prompt-id"}'

# Create a prompt in a team
promptminder-agent prompt.create --input '{"title":"SQL helper","content":"Write clean SQL","team":"team-uuid"}'

# Pipe JSON from a file
cat payload.json | promptminder-agent prompt.create --stdin

Available actions: team.list, prompt.list, prompt.get, prompt.create, prompt.update, prompt.delete, tag.list, tag.create, tag.update, tag.delete.

Run promptminder-agent help for the full list with input field requirements.

Workspace Skill packages (0.2.0, unreleased)

As of 2026-09-10, npm latest is 0.1.3. Check promptminder help before using the following repository-only 0.2.0 commands; do not assume a public npm installation supports them.

Singular skill manages workspace packages; plural skills manages the bundled CLI instruction skill.

text
promptminder skill list [--team <id>] [--search <text>]
promptminder skill get <id> [--team <id>] [--version <label>]
promptminder skill import <directory> [--team <id>] [--version <label>]
promptminder skill update <id> <directory> [--team <id>] [--version <new-label>]
promptminder skill install <id> [--team <id>] [--version <label>] [--target codex] [--out-dir <directory>]

Agent actions: skill.list, skill.get, skill.import, skill.update, skill.install. Use id for get/update/install and directory for import/update in the JSON input; scope with team.

bash
promptminder-agent skill.install --input '{"id":"<prompt-id>","team":"<team-id>","out-dir":"./reviewed-skills"}'

Omit --team for personal scope. IDs identify saved snapshots; --version selects a label in the same lineage. Team proposals must be approved before installation. Packages require SKILL.md with name and description, at most 200 files and 2 MB total. Installation defaults to project .cursor/skills, never runs package scripts, and refuses overwrites even with --force; choose a new --out-dir instead.

Error Triage

Stderr messageCauseFix
Missing token. Pass --token or run promptminder auth login. No token foundSet PROMPTMINDER_TOKEN or run auth login
HTTP 401Token invalid or expiredUpdate the active token source; check for an old PROMPTMINDER_TOKEN overriding saved login
Destructive commands require --yesDelete without confirmation flagAdd --yes
Use only one of --content, --content-file, or --stdinMultiple content sourcesKeep only one

Common Mistakes

  • Wrong agent wrapper syntax: promptminder-agent prompt list fails - use promptminder-agent prompt.list (dot notation).
  • Wrong team flag: --team-id does not exist - use --team <uuid>.
  • Piping with jq: pipe promptminder prompt list | jq . - stdout is always JSON.
  • Token in CI: prefer PROMPTMINDER_TOKEN env var; avoid checking in the token or running interactive auth login in pipelines.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Promptminder Cli AI skill do?

Use when running promptminder or promptminder-agent commands, setting PROMPTMINDER_TOKEN, passing --team for workspace scoping, handling JSON stderr errors like "Missing token" or HTTP 401, or using the agent wrapper with dot-notation actions and --input JSON.

Why use Promptminder Cli on TypingMind?

Because you install it once and use it with any model. Promptminder Cli is plain Markdown rather than provider-specific code, so the same skill runs on GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model — and you can switch model mid-chat without it breaking. TypingMind runs on your own API keys, so you pay providers directly instead of a per-seat subscription, and your skills and chats stay in your own storage.

How do I install Promptminder Cli in TypingMind?

Open Plugins → Skills → Install from GitHub in TypingMind and paste https://github.com/aircrushin/promptMinder/tree/main/packages/promptminder-cli/skills/promptminder-cli. TypingMind reads its SKILL.md and installs it as a skill you can enable per chat.

Which AI models can use Promptminder Cli?

Any model you connect in TypingMind. AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, and local models can all load this skill when a request matches it.

How many AI models can I use with Promptminder Cli?

As many as you like. As long as a model supports skills, you can use Promptminder Cli with it — GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama and more — all on TypingMind with your own API keys.

Is the Promptminder Cli AI skill free?

It is published on GitHub by aircrushin. Check the repository for licensing terms. You only pay your own AI provider for the tokens you use.

What are AI skills?

An AI skill is a reusable instruction bundle that teaches an AI model how to do one specific task. It follows the open Agent Skills format: a SKILL.md file with a name and description, plus any scripts, templates or reference files the model may need. The model reads the instructions only when your request matches the skill, so an installed skill costs nothing until it is used.

How are AI skills different from plugins or MCP servers?

A plugin or MCP server gives a model new tools to call — code that runs somewhere and returns a result. An AI skill gives the model knowledge and process instead: how to approach a task, which steps to follow, what good output looks like. Skills are plain Markdown, so they need no server, no API key and no runtime, and they work with any model.
