Scores a vlog with Epidemic Sound - one music cue per section edited to exact length, a ducking envelope baked into one bed (quiet under speech, up on B-roll), and tasteful transition sound instead of cheesy literal foley. Use for "add music", "background music", "sound effects", "SFX", or when the creator says the music or SFX feel wrong.

  • Markdown instructions

A SKILL.md file the model loads on demand, so it only costs tokens when a request actually matches.

  • Works with any LLM

AI skills are plain Markdown, not provider-specific code, so this works with GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model.

  • Self-contained

Everything the model needs lives in the instructions — no extra files to sync.

  • Open source

Published by appariciojunior on GitHub. Read the source before you install it.

Installation

Install the Music And Sound AI skill in TypingMind to use it with any LLM, or drop it into another agent that reads SKILL.md.

1

Install in TypingMind

TypingMind installs a skill straight from its GitHub folder — it reads SKILL.md, bundles the resource files, and stores the result locally.

  1. Open the app and go to Plugins → Skills.
  2. Choose "Install from GitHub".
  3. Paste the skill folder URL below and confirm.
    https://github.com/appariciojunior/video-editor-skills/tree/main/skills/music-and-sound
  4. Enable the skill in any chat where you want it available.
Plugins → Skills → Add skill → From GitHub URL, then paste the folder URL and press Continue.
2

Install in another agent

Any agent that reads the Agent Skills format can use this skill — copy the folder into that agent's skills directory.

Claude Code — .claude/skills
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/appariciojunior/video-editor-skills.git /tmp/video-editor-skills
mkdir -p .claude/skills
cp -r /tmp/video-editor-skills/skills/music-and-sound .claude/skills/music-and-sound
Restart Claude Code after copying so it picks up the new skill.

Use it in TypingMind

Enable Music And Sound in any TypingMind chat and the model takes it from there. Its name and description sit in the system prompt, and the moment a request matches, the model loads the full instructions itself — you never invoke it by hand, and it costs no tokens until it is actually used.

The model loads Music And Sound on its own as soon as a request matches it.

Works with any AI model

AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so Music And Sound is not tied to the model it was written for. Install it once in TypingMind and use it with GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama, or a local model you run yourself — all on your own API keys.

  • Loaded only when it is needed

The system prompt carries just the name and description. The instructions are fetched on the first matching request, so an idle skill costs nothing.

  • Switch models mid-chat

Because the skill is instructions rather than code, changing model does not break it — the next model reads the same SKILL.md.

Skill instructions

This is the SKILL.md content the model loads. Read it before installing — a skill is instructions your model will follow.

Music and sound design

Only when asked. The creator doesn't want a list to choose from: pick, place, and name two alternates per cue in one line each so they can say "swap to the second one".

Tools

Epidemic Sound as an MCP server: SearchRecordings, EditRecording + PollEditRecordingJob + DownloadRecordingEdit, SearchSoundEffects, DownloadSoundEffect. Downloads are signed URLs: fetch them with curl into system/videos/<v>/music/src/ or sfx/src/.

1. Read the timeline as it is now

The creator has usually trimmed the cut. Read the B-roll windows from V1 of their timeline (times in seconds), and the speech around them.

2. Cues by section (moods)

Read the transcript and split it into 2–3 sections. A vlog that worked:

  • Opening / journey (hopeful, dreamy ambient beats ~100 BPM), swelling on the travel B-roll;
  • The talk (laid-back lo-fi ~73 BPM, sparse, nothing with a busy lead melody);
  • Ending (warm, hopeful indie ~95 BPM) from "to close this video…" through the outro.

Search with filters vocals: false and a BPM range; avoid corporate stock sounds. Then ask Epidemic for an edit at the exact section length (EditRecording, forceDuration: true, WAV, maxResults: 1, max 300 s). Check the edit's loudness over time: one edit started fading 25 s before its end, killing the B-roll it was meant to lift. Fix: ask for a longer edit and cut it yourself with your own short fade.

3. One bed with a baked envelope (on A2)

Normalize each cue to the full level, place them with 2.5–3 s crossfades, then apply a gain envelope:

  • Full on B-roll (and other speech-free moments): -16 LUFS. -19 was not enough; the creator asked for louder.
  • Under speech: -14 dB below full (≈ -30 LUFS against a -16 LKFS voice).
  • Rise 1.2 s, starting ~0.9 s before the B-roll (inside the speaker's tail room) so the music flows into the B-roll; fall 1.0 s ending as the next sentence starts.
  • Write a plain 16-bit PCM WAV with a new file name per render (bed_v3.wav) so Resolve never serves a cached old file. Verify levels per section after rendering (speech ≈ -30, B-roll ≈ -15 LUFS).

4. Sound effects: taste over literal

What failed: a zipper when the bag opens, cloth swooshes, a jet pass-by on the plane shot. The creator called it "the most cheesy and weird". Literal foley that mimics objects on screen feels cheap in a reflective vlog. What works:

  • One soft swell into each B-roll: an untuned reversed cymbal ("riser, no impact") that peaks exactly on the cut, ~10 dB under the music. Untuned so it never clashes with the music's key.
  • Quiet room tone only where it sets the place (airport lounge, a city street), ~ -37 LUFS, long fades.
  • The B-roll's own natural sound is real and usually better than library SFX.
  • Find where the event happens inside each SFX file (loudness envelope) and align that point, not the file start.
  • Pre-mix each scene into one mono clip (A3 can't hold overlapping clips), placed at the scene start.

5. Place and verify

Bed on A2, scene clips on A3 (the creator's own timeline uses the same layout). Re-placing must never bring back clips the creator deleted: place "bed only" or "SFX only" when updating one of them. Then make sure the bed is actually audible (render a few seconds and correlate, see resolve-scripting): a template's music track can be silenced by a track-level AI Music Remixer.

Report

Each cue (section, title - artist, two alternates), the envelope numbers, each SFX scene and why, and that you couldn't listen: "this is a judgement from the files, tell me if it feels off".

Frequently asked questions

What does the Music And Sound AI skill do?

Scores a vlog with Epidemic Sound - one music cue per section edited to exact length, a ducking envelope baked into one bed (quiet under speech, up on B-roll), and tasteful transition sound instead of cheesy literal foley. Use for "add music", "background music", "sound effects", "SFX", or when the creator says the music or SFX feel wrong.

Why use Music And Sound on TypingMind?

Because you install it once and use it with any model. Music And Sound is plain Markdown rather than provider-specific code, so the same skill runs on GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model — and you can switch model mid-chat without it breaking. TypingMind runs on your own API keys, so you pay providers directly instead of a per-seat subscription, and your skills and chats stay in your own storage.

How do I install Music And Sound in TypingMind?

Open Plugins → Skills → Install from GitHub in TypingMind and paste https://github.com/appariciojunior/video-editor-skills/tree/main/skills/music-and-sound. TypingMind reads its SKILL.md and installs it as a skill you can enable per chat.

Which AI models can use Music And Sound?

Any model you connect in TypingMind. AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, and local models can all load this skill when a request matches it.

How many AI models can I use with Music And Sound?

As many as you like. As long as a model supports skills, you can use Music And Sound with it — GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama and more — all on TypingMind with your own API keys.

Is the Music And Sound AI skill free?

It is published on GitHub by appariciojunior. Check the repository for licensing terms. You only pay your own AI provider for the tokens you use.

What are AI skills?

An AI skill is a reusable instruction bundle that teaches an AI model how to do one specific task. It follows the open Agent Skills format: a SKILL.md file with a name and description, plus any scripts, templates or reference files the model may need. The model reads the instructions only when your request matches the skill, so an installed skill costs nothing until it is used.

How are AI skills different from plugins or MCP servers?

A plugin or MCP server gives a model new tools to call — code that runs somewhere and returns a result. An AI skill gives the model knowledge and process instead: how to approach a task, which steps to follow, what good output looks like. Skills are plain Markdown, so they need no server, no API key and no runtime, and they work with any model.
