  • Markdown instructions

A SKILL.md file the model loads on demand, so it only costs tokens when a request actually matches.

  • Works with any LLM

AI skills are plain Markdown, not provider-specific code, so this works with GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model.

  • 13 bundled files

Scripts, templates, and references the model can read while it works. Files are read-only and never executed.

  • Open source

Published by Arize-ai on GitHub. Read the source before you install it.

Installation

Install the Arize Ai Provider Integration AI skill in TypingMind to use it with any LLM, or drop it into another agent that reads SKILL.md.

1

Install in TypingMind

TypingMind installs a skill straight from its GitHub folder — it reads SKILL.md, bundles the resource files, and stores the result locally.

  1. Open the app and go to Plugins → Skills.
  2. Choose "Install from GitHub".
  3. Paste the skill folder URL below and confirm.
    https://github.com/Arize-ai/arize-skills/tree/main/skills/arize-ai-provider-integration
  4. Enable the skill in any chat where you want it available.
Plugins → Skills → Add skill → From GitHub URL, then paste the folder URL and press Continue.
2

Install in another agent

Any agent that reads the Agent Skills format can use this skill — copy the folder into that agent's skills directory.

Claude Code — .claude/skills
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/Arize-ai/arize-skills.git /tmp/arize-skills
mkdir -p .claude/skills
cp -r /tmp/arize-skills/skills/arize-ai-provider-integration .claude/skills/arize-ai-provider-integration
Restart Claude Code after copying so it picks up the new skill.

Use it in TypingMind

Enable Arize Ai Provider Integration in any TypingMind chat and the model takes it from there. Its name and description sit in the system prompt, and the moment a request matches, the model loads the full instructions itself — you never invoke it by hand, and it costs no tokens until it is actually used.

The model loads Arize Ai Provider Integration on its own as soon as a request matches it.

Works with any AI model

AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so Arize Ai Provider Integration is not tied to the model it was written for. Install it once in TypingMind and use it with GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama, or a local model you run yourself — all on your own API keys.

  • Loaded only when it is needed

The system prompt carries just the name and description. The instructions are fetched on the first matching request, so an idle skill costs nothing.

  • Switch models mid-chat

Because the skill is instructions rather than code, changing model does not break it — the next model reads the same SKILL.md.

Skill instructions

This is the SKILL.md content the model loads. Read it before installing — a skill is instructions your model will follow.

Arize AI Integration Skill

SPACE — --space flags accept a space name (e.g., my-workspace) or a base64 space ID (e.g., U3BhY2U6...). Resolve a known name with ax spaces get NAME; ax spaces list is for browsing when the name is unknown. Note: ai-integrations create does not accept --space — AI integrations are account-scoped. Use --space only with list, get, update, and delete.

Concepts

  • AI Integration = stored LLM provider credentials registered in Arize; used by evaluators to call a judge model and by other Arize features that need to invoke an LLM on your behalf
  • Provider = the LLM service backing the integration (e.g., OPEN_AI, ANTHROPIC, AWS_BEDROCK)
  • Integration ID = a base64-encoded global identifier for an integration (e.g., TGxtSW50ZWdyYXRpb246MTI6YUJjRA==); required for evaluator creation and other downstream operations
  • Scoping = visibility rules controlling which spaces or users can use an integration
  • Auth type = how Arize authenticates with the provider: DEFAULT (provider API key), PROXY_WITH_HEADERS (proxy via custom headers), BEARER_TOKEN (bearer token auth), or OAUTH2_CLIENT_CREDENTIALS

Prerequisites

Proceed directly with the task — run the ax command you need. Do NOT check versions, env vars, or profiles upfront.

If an ax command fails, troubleshoot based on the error:

  • command not found or version error → see references/ax-setup.md
  • 401 Unauthorized / missing API key → run ax profiles show to inspect the current profile. If the profile is missing or the API key is wrong, follow references/ax-profiles.md to create/update it. If the user doesn't have their key, direct them to https://app.arize.com/admin > API Keys
  • Space unknown → see Space
  • LLM provider call fails (missing provider credentials) → run ax ai-integrations list --space SPACE to check for platform-managed credentials. If none exist:
    • Preferred: Give the user the exact ax ai-integrations create command from Supported Providers below (reference env var names like $OPENAI_API_KEY, never raw values). Ask them to export the provider key in their own terminal and run the command there — never paste the key into chat. Do not run the create command yourself unless the var is already exported in this terminal session.
    • Bedrock/Vertex: use --provider-metadata instead of --api-key (see Supported Providers below).
  • Security: Never read .env files or search the filesystem for credentials. Exception: the non-secret ARIZE_SPACE_ID line (see Space). Use ax profiles for Arize credentials and ax ai-integrations for LLM provider keys. Never ask the user to paste secrets into chat. For missing credentials, see references/ax-profiles.md.

List AI Integrations

List all integrations accessible in a space:

bash
ax ai-integrations list --space SPACE

Filter by name (case-insensitive substring match):

bash
ax ai-integrations list --space SPACE --name "openai"

Paginate large result sets:

bash
# Get first page
ax ai-integrations list --space SPACE --limit 20 -o json

# Get next page using cursor from previous response
ax ai-integrations list --space SPACE --limit 20 --cursor CURSOR_TOKEN -o json

Run ax ai-integrations list --help for flags. When the integration name or ID is known, use ax ai-integrations get (below) instead of paging the list; list is for browsing.

Response fields:

FieldDescription
idBase64 integration ID — copy this for downstream commands
nameHuman-readable name
providerLLM provider enum (see Supported Providers below)
has_api_keytrue if credentials are stored
model_namesAllowed model list, or null if all models are enabled
enable_default_modelsWhether default models for this provider are allowed
function_calling_enabledWhether tool/function calling is enabled
auth_typeAuthentication method: DEFAULT, PROXY_WITH_HEADERS, BEARER_TOKEN, or OAUTH2_CLIENT_CREDENTIALS

Get a Specific Integration

bash
ax ai-integrations get NAME_OR_ID
ax ai-integrations get NAME_OR_ID -o json
ax ai-integrations get NAME_OR_ID --space SPACE # required when using name instead of ID

Use this to inspect an integration's full configuration or to confirm its ID after creation.

Create an AI Integration

Before creating, always list integrations first — the user may already have a suitable one:

bash
ax ai-integrations list --space SPACE

If no suitable integration exists, create one. The required flags depend on the provider.

Every create command follows this shape; the provider-specific flags come from the table below:

bash
ax ai-integrations create \
  --name "My OpenAI Integration" \
  --provider OPEN_AI \
  --api-key $OPENAI_API_KEY \
  --enable-default-models

Every integration except LiteLLM, Fireworks AI and Together AI needs a model source: pass --enable-default-models (Arize's default model list for the provider) and/or one or more --model-name flags. Without either, the server rejects the create with 400: An integration must have at least one model available.

For a provider's full example and notes (Bedrock/Vertex metadata, base URLs, flags to avoid), open only that provider's file from the Details column below.

Run ax ai-integrations create --help for optional flags. Pair --headers with --auth-type PROXY_WITH_HEADERS when the provider sits behind a proxy.

After creation

Capture the returned integration ID (e.g., TGxtSW50ZWdyYXRpb246MTI6YUJjRA==) — it is needed for evaluator creation and other downstream commands. If you missed it, retrieve it:

bash
ax ai-integrations get NAME_OR_ID --space SPACE -o json

Update an AI Integration

update is a partial update — only the flags you provide are changed. Omitted fields stay as-is.

bash
# Rename
ax ai-integrations update NAME_OR_ID --name "New Name"

# Rotate the API key
ax ai-integrations update NAME_OR_ID --api-key $OPENAI_API_KEY

# Change the model list (replaces all existing model names)
ax ai-integrations update NAME_OR_ID --model-name gpt-4o --model-name gpt-4o-mini

# Update base URL (for Azure, custom, or NIM)
ax ai-integrations update NAME_OR_ID --base-url "https://new-endpoint.example.com/v1"

# Restrict visibility to specific spaces (full replace — lists all spaces that should have access)
ax ai-integrations update NAME_OR_ID \
  --scopings '[{"space_id": "SPACE_GLOBAL_ID", "scoping_type": "include"}]'

Add --space SPACE when using a name instead of ID. Any flag accepted by create can be passed to update.

--scopings flag: Controls which spaces can use this integration. Accepts a JSON array of scoping rules. Replaces all existing scopings on update. Use ax spaces list -o json to find space global IDs.

Delete an AI Integration

Warning: Deletion is permanent. Evaluators that reference this integration will no longer be able to run.

bash
ax ai-integrations delete NAME_OR_ID --force
ax ai-integrations delete NAME_OR_ID --space SPACE --force # required when using name instead of ID

Omit --force to get a confirmation prompt instead of deleting immediately.

ax integrations (LLM and agent integrations)

ax integrations manages LLM and agent integrations in one group (list, get, delete, create llm|agent, update llm|agent). Run ax integrations --help for flags.

  • Choosing a create command: use ax ai-integrations create (the examples above) for AZURE_OPEN_AI or when --auth-type is needed; ax integrations create llm accepts neither. Use ax integrations create llm when scopings must be set at create time (--scopings).
  • create llm provider flags differ from ax ai-integrations create: Bedrock and Vertex AI take dedicated flags instead of --provider-metadata. Run ax integrations create llm --help for the per-provider list.
  • Agent endpoints: use ax integrations create agent to register an agent endpoint; run its --help for flags.
  • Provider is immutable in ax integrations update llm; delete and recreate to change it.
  • --type: list returns every type merged; filter with --type LLM or --type AGENT. get and delete by name need --type because names are unique only per type; IDs work without it.

Troubleshooting

ax: command not foundSee references/ax-setup.md
401 UnauthorizedAPI key may not have access to this space. Verify key and space ID at https://app.arize.com/admin > API Keys
No profile foundRun ax profiles show --expand; set ARIZE_API_KEY env var or write ~/.arize/config.toml
Integration not foundCheck the name or ID with ax ai-integrations get NAME_OR_ID --space SPACE; use ax ai-integrations list --space SPACE --name TEXT only to browse for the right name
has_api_key: false after createCredentials were not saved — re-run update with the correct --api-key or --provider-metadata
Evaluator runs fail with LLM errorsCheck integration credentials with ax ai-integrations get INT_ID; rotate the API key if needed
Invalid value for '--provider' with FIREWORKS or TOGETHER_AIThe installed ax CLI predates these providers — upgrade the ax CLI (see references/ax-setup.md)
An integration must have at least one model availableAdd --enable-default-models or at least one --model-name (required for every provider except LiteLLM, Fireworks AI and Together AI)
Integration has the wrong providerax ai-integrations update NAME_OR_ID --provider NEW_PROVIDER changes it, but other fields are kept as-is — pass the new provider's required flags (API key, base URL, model source) in the same call. When the two providers need very different settings, deleting and recreating is cleaner

Frequently asked questions

What does the Arize Ai Provider Integration AI skill do?

Creates, reads, updates, and deletes Arize AI integrations that store LLM provider credentials used by evaluators and other Arize features. Supports any LLM provider (e.g. OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, Vertex AI, Gemini, NVIDIA NIM, Fireworks AI, Together AI). Use when the user mentions AI integration, LLM provider credentials, create integration, list integrations, update credentials, delete integration, or connecting an LLM provider to Arize.

Why use Arize Ai Provider Integration on TypingMind?

Because you install it once and use it with any model. Arize Ai Provider Integration is plain Markdown rather than provider-specific code, so the same skill runs on GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model — and you can switch model mid-chat without it breaking. TypingMind runs on your own API keys, so you pay providers directly instead of a per-seat subscription, and your skills and chats stay in your own storage.

How do I install Arize Ai Provider Integration in TypingMind?

Open Plugins → Skills → Install from GitHub in TypingMind and paste https://github.com/Arize-ai/arize-skills/tree/main/skills/arize-ai-provider-integration. TypingMind reads its SKILL.md and bundles its files and installs it as a skill you can enable per chat.

Which AI models can use Arize Ai Provider Integration?

Any model you connect in TypingMind. AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, and local models can all load this skill when a request matches it.

How many AI models can I use with Arize Ai Provider Integration?

As many as you like. As long as a model supports skills, you can use Arize Ai Provider Integration with it — GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama and more — all on TypingMind with your own API keys.

Is the Arize Ai Provider Integration AI skill free?

Yes. It is published on GitHub by Arize-ai under the MIT license. You only pay your own AI provider for the tokens you use.

What are AI skills?

An AI skill is a reusable instruction bundle that teaches an AI model how to do one specific task. It follows the open Agent Skills format: a SKILL.md file with a name and description, plus any scripts, templates or reference files the model may need. The model reads the instructions only when your request matches the skill, so an installed skill costs nothing until it is used.

How are AI skills different from plugins or MCP servers?

A plugin or MCP server gives a model new tools to call — code that runs somewhere and returns a result. An AI skill gives the model knowledge and process instead: how to approach a task, which steps to follow, what good output looks like. Skills are plain Markdown, so they need no server, no API key and no runtime, and they work with any model.
