MK-081 | Selecting high-margin products

Purpose
This skill delivers: Products with a profit-generating role and their cost constraints
Products occurring in the same transaction do not establish psychological motives; a product pairing does not automatically prove cross-selling effectiveness
Required inputs
Available raw records: product net prices, variable costs, refunds, stock, customer needs, and supported sales-volume scenarios
Method Steps
- List net price, actual product and variable fulfillment costs, refunds, stock, and the existing buyer group with a matching need. High price or margin percentage alone does not identify the lead product
- A real next-purchase need and contribution meeting the objective support a margin-product candidate. High margin without demand records calls for a capped demand test, not promotion to every member
- Compare supported volume scenarios × contribution per order − added promotion costs within one period and fulfillment capacity. A higher percentage does not take priority over higher achievable total contribution
- Deduct contribution displaced from existing full-price sales. If a cost is missing, report partial contribution and break-even conditions, requesting the cost that could reverse ranking rather than treating it as zero
- Withdraw the lead recommendation when the next need does not fit, refunds increase, or volume assumptions fail. Reconsider after improved costs only if demand still exists
Calculation and Interpretation
Contribution per order = net paid revenue − product cost − variable fulfillment/payment costs. Total scenario contribution also deducts added promotion and displaced baseline contribution; do not deduct discounts twice
Check example (hypothetical): A contributes 500 per order with support for two orders; B contributes 200 with support for ten. With equal other costs, B's 2,000 exceeds A's 1,000. B falling to three available orders changes priority to A
