  • Markdown instructions

A SKILL.md file the model loads on demand, so it only costs tokens when a request actually matches.

  • Works with any LLM

AI skills are plain Markdown, not provider-specific code, so this works with GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model.

  • Self-contained

Everything the model needs lives in the instructions — no extra files to sync.

  • Open source

Published by cognyai on GitHub. Read the source before you install it.

Installation

Install the Ad Copy Writer AI skill in TypingMind to use it with any LLM, or drop it into another agent that reads SKILL.md.

1

Install in TypingMind

TypingMind installs a skill straight from its GitHub folder — it reads SKILL.md, bundles the resource files, and stores the result locally.

  1. Open the app and go to Plugins → Skills.
  2. Choose "Install from GitHub".
  3. Paste the skill folder URL below and confirm.
    https://github.com/cognyai/claude-code-marketing-skills/tree/main/skills/ad-copy-writer
  4. Enable the skill in any chat where you want it available.
Plugins → Skills → Add skill → From GitHub URL, then paste the folder URL and press Continue.
2

Install in another agent

Any agent that reads the Agent Skills format can use this skill — copy the folder into that agent's skills directory.

Claude Code — .claude/skills
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/cognyai/claude-code-marketing-skills.git /tmp/claude-code-marketing-skills
mkdir -p .claude/skills
cp -r /tmp/claude-code-marketing-skills/skills/ad-copy-writer .claude/skills/ad-copy-writer
Restart Claude Code after copying so it picks up the new skill.

Use it in TypingMind

Enable Ad Copy Writer in any TypingMind chat and the model takes it from there. Its name and description sit in the system prompt, and the moment a request matches, the model loads the full instructions itself — you never invoke it by hand, and it costs no tokens until it is actually used.

The model loads Ad Copy Writer on its own as soon as a request matches it.

Works with any AI model

AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so Ad Copy Writer is not tied to the model it was written for. Install it once in TypingMind and use it with GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama, or a local model you run yourself — all on your own API keys.

  • Loaded only when it is needed

The system prompt carries just the name and description. The instructions are fetched on the first matching request, so an idle skill costs nothing.

  • Switch models mid-chat

Because the skill is instructions rather than code, changing model does not break it — the next model reads the same SKILL.md.

Skill instructions

This is the SKILL.md content the model loads. Read it before installing — a skill is instructions your model will follow.

Steps

1. Research the product

If a URL is provided, WebFetch it and extract:

  • Value proposition
  • Key features / benefits
  • Target audience
  • Pricing (if visible)
  • Unique differentiators

If a description is provided, use that directly.

2. Research the competition

WebSearch for competitors to understand:

  • What messaging angles they use
  • Common claims in the space
  • Price anchoring

2b. Enhanced when connected: read what's already running

If the target platform is connected (check mcp__cogny__list_integrations), pull its active ads with the tool above. List the angles, claims and CTAs already in use, and mark the top performers by the platform's own CTR where available. Then write new copy that tests different angles, and say which existing angle each new variation is meant to beat. If nothing is connected, skip this step.

3. Generate copy by platform

Google Ads (RSA format)

Generate 15 headlines (max 30 chars each) and 4 descriptions (max 90 chars each):

Headlines — mix of:

  • Benefit-led: "Cut Ad Spend 40%"
  • Feature-led: "AI-Powered Optimization"
  • Social proof: "Trusted by 1,000+ Agencies"
  • CTA: "Start Free Trial Today"
  • Keyword-match: "[Primary keyword] Tool"

Descriptions — mix of:

  • Problem/solution
  • Feature list
  • Social proof + CTA
  • Urgency/offer
Meta Ads

Generate 3 variations:

  • Primary text (50-150 chars recommended for single-image Feed ads, per Meta's Ads Guide; up to 500)
  • Headline (27 chars recommended for single-image Feed ads; longer headlines truncate)
  • Description (30 chars)
  • CTA button recommendation

Angles:

  1. Pain point → solution
  2. Social proof → aspiration
  3. Direct value prop → CTA
LinkedIn Ads

Generate 3 variations:

  • Intro text (150 chars recommended to avoid truncation; 3,000 max)
  • Headline (70 chars recommended; 200 max)
  • Description (100 chars recommended; 300 max; shown only on LinkedIn Audience Network placements)

Angles:

  1. Professional credibility
  2. ROI / efficiency focus
  3. Industry-specific insight
Microsoft Ads (RSA format)

Same limits as Google: 15 headlines (30 chars), 4 descriptions (90 chars), 2 display paths (15 chars). Reuse the Google set, but check the audience skews older and more desktop/B2B (LinkedIn profile targeting is available), so favour clarity over slang.

TikTok Ads

Generate 3 variations:

  • Ad text (1–100 chars; keep under ~80 so it isn't truncated)
  • Display name (brand, up to 40 chars)
  • CTA button recommendation Angles: native hook in the first line ("POV:", "I tried…"), demo/result, creator testimonial. Copy supports the video; it never explains it.
Reddit Ads

Generate 3 variations:

  • Headline / post title (max 300 chars; aim for 60–120)
  • CTA button recommendation Angles: plain-spoken problem statement, honest comparison, "we built this because…". No hype words; Reddit users downvote ad-speak.
Snapchat Ads

Generate 3 variations:

  • Brand name (max 25 chars)
  • Headline (max 34 chars)
  • CTA recommendation Angles: instant benefit, offer/urgency, playful/social.
X Ads

Generate 3 variations:

  • Post text (max 280 chars; a URL counts as 23)
  • Website card headline (max 70 chars) Angles: hot take / contrarian, number-led proof, thread-style teaser.
Apple Search Ads

There is no free-text ad copy: ads are built from the App Store listing (app name 30 chars, subtitle 30 chars, screenshots) and custom product pages. Instead deliver: subtitle options (30 chars), 3 custom product page themes matched to keyword groups, and the keyword groups themselves. If Apple_Search_Ads is connected, read live keywords with tool_get_targeting_keywords(org_id, campaign_id, ad_group_id) first.

4. Output format

Present each variation clearly labeled with character counts:

=== Google Ads RSA ===

Headlines (30 char max):
1. "Cut Your Ad Spend by 40%" (25)
2. "AI Marketing Automation" (24)
...

Descriptions (90 char max):
1. "Stop wasting budget on underperforming ads. Our AI optimizes your campaigns 24/7." (83)
...

=== Meta Ads ===

Variation 1 (Pain → Solution):
Primary: "..."
Headline: "..."
...

Frequently asked questions

What does the Ad Copy Writer AI skill do?

Generate ad copy variations for Google, Microsoft, Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok, Reddit, Snapchat and X Ads (plus Apple Search Ads guidance)

Why use Ad Copy Writer on TypingMind?

Because you install it once and use it with any model. Ad Copy Writer is plain Markdown rather than provider-specific code, so the same skill runs on GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model — and you can switch model mid-chat without it breaking. TypingMind runs on your own API keys, so you pay providers directly instead of a per-seat subscription, and your skills and chats stay in your own storage.

How do I install Ad Copy Writer in TypingMind?

Open Plugins → Skills → Install from GitHub in TypingMind and paste https://github.com/cognyai/claude-code-marketing-skills/tree/main/skills/ad-copy-writer. TypingMind reads its SKILL.md and installs it as a skill you can enable per chat.

Which AI models can use Ad Copy Writer?

Any model you connect in TypingMind. AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, and local models can all load this skill when a request matches it.

How many AI models can I use with Ad Copy Writer?

As many as you like. As long as a model supports skills, you can use Ad Copy Writer with it — GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama and more — all on TypingMind with your own API keys.

Is the Ad Copy Writer AI skill free?

It is published on GitHub by cognyai. Check the repository for licensing terms. You only pay your own AI provider for the tokens you use.

What are AI skills?

An AI skill is a reusable instruction bundle that teaches an AI model how to do one specific task. It follows the open Agent Skills format: a SKILL.md file with a name and description, plus any scripts, templates or reference files the model may need. The model reads the instructions only when your request matches the skill, so an installed skill costs nothing until it is used.

How are AI skills different from plugins or MCP servers?

A plugin or MCP server gives a model new tools to call — code that runs somewhere and returns a result. An AI skill gives the model knowledge and process instead: how to approach a task, which steps to follow, what good output looks like. Skills are plain Markdown, so they need no server, no API key and no runtime, and they work with any model.
