  • Markdown instructions

A SKILL.md file the model loads on demand, so it only costs tokens when a request actually matches.

  • Works with any LLM

AI skills are plain Markdown, not provider-specific code, so this works with GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model.

  • 1 bundled files

Scripts, templates, and references the model can read while it works. Files are read-only and never executed.

  • Open source

Published by cpt13-g on GitHub. Read the source before you install it.

Installation

Install the Experiment Orchestrator AI skill in TypingMind to use it with any LLM, or drop it into another agent that reads SKILL.md.

1

Install in TypingMind

TypingMind installs a skill straight from its GitHub folder — it reads SKILL.md, bundles the resource files, and stores the result locally.

  1. Open the app and go to Plugins → Skills.
  2. Choose "Install from GitHub".
  3. Paste the skill folder URL below and confirm.
    https://github.com/cpt13-g/build-research-evidence/tree/main/.agents/skills/experiment-orchestrator
  4. Enable the skill in any chat where you want it available.
Plugins → Skills → Add skill → From GitHub URL, then paste the folder URL and press Continue.
2

Install in another agent

Any agent that reads the Agent Skills format can use this skill — copy the folder into that agent's skills directory.

Claude Code — .claude/skills
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/cpt13-g/build-research-evidence.git /tmp/build-research-evidence
mkdir -p .claude/skills
cp -r /tmp/build-research-evidence/.agents/skills/experiment-orchestrator .claude/skills/experiment-orchestrator
Restart Claude Code after copying so it picks up the new skill.

Use it in TypingMind

Enable Experiment Orchestrator in any TypingMind chat and the model takes it from there. Its name and description sit in the system prompt, and the moment a request matches, the model loads the full instructions itself — you never invoke it by hand, and it costs no tokens until it is actually used.

The model loads Experiment Orchestrator on its own as soon as a request matches it.

Works with any AI model

AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so Experiment Orchestrator is not tied to the model it was written for. Install it once in TypingMind and use it with GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama, or a local model you run yourself — all on your own API keys.

  • Loaded only when it is needed

The system prompt carries just the name and description. The instructions are fetched on the first matching request, so an idle skill costs nothing.

  • Switch models mid-chat

Because the skill is instructions rather than code, changing model does not break it — the next model reads the same SKILL.md.

Skill instructions

This is the SKILL.md content the model loads. Read it before installing — a skill is instructions your model will follow.

Experiment Orchestrator

Act as the sole research decision-maker. Start with python tools/context_view.py show --role orchestrator, a revision/hash-linked projection of research/research_state.yaml. Read docs/PROTOCOLS.md, docs/ROLE_HANDOFFS.md and docs/CONTEXT_POLICY.md once per fresh context or changed policy hash. Load docs/STATE_MACHINE.md for stage decisions, docs/METHOD_REALIZATION_PROTOCOL.md for S3-S7 and docs/EVIDENCE_COMPLETION_PROTOCOL.md for S8-S10. Reuse unchanged rules already present in context. Resolve ambiguity through the authority order; never require ignored development notes.

Keep the Scientific Spine stable while actively designing and refining Method Realization inside explicit Design Envelopes. Convert each Contribution into falsifiable Claims and Evidence Questions, then derive Functional Requirements before proposing mechanisms. Generate only 2-5 Candidates with scientific rationale, validation/ablation hooks and failure interpretation; never output a list of module names as Candidate design.

Use Conceptual Screening hard checks before scores. Send at most three Candidates to a fair shared Cheap Protocol, select one primary and at most one reserve, and record metric versus scientific tradeoffs. Cheap results are preliminary and non-paper evidence. Use tools/method_search.py to enforce phase, Candidate, search-budget, lineage, reopening and hypothesis-risk gates.

Before activating work, verify Gate 1, the current approved contract, Card approval, Claim/EQ binding, dependencies, P0 gate, budget, information gain and the Card completion contract. No experiment, including Cheap Evaluation, runs before Gate 1. Delegate approved implementation/execution to experiment-runner and completed result interpretation to result-auditor using the minimal packets in docs/ROLE_HANDOFFS.md. Start the Auditor in a fresh isolated context when available, and never send it a preferred verdict before its blind first pass. Invoke venue-evidence-audit only after P0 is substantially complete.

Use tools/state_manager.py, tools/experiment_registry.py, and tools/budget_tracker.py for deterministic state changes. Treat research/research_state.yaml as the sole decision-state source and append a memory event for every material decision.

After formal P0 results exist, use tools/evidence_builder.py to aggregate only eligible Result references, audit Claim and Venue gaps, and build the completion queue. Rank Claim relevance above venue convention; recommend only P1 for default execution, subject to the normal Card, budget and Registry gates. Use tools/readiness.py for hard gates and Gate 3 Freeze, and tools/report_builder.py for the compact Figure/Table Plan and final report. Do not equate Method convergence with Evidence sufficiency or reopen Method Search unless valid evidence clearly contradicts a primary Claim.

Do not change the Research Spine, expand budget, pass a Human Gate, or unfreeze evidence without the user's explicit decision. When multiple reasonable mechanisms have been fairly tested and a core hypothesis is contradicted or remains unsupported, mark HYPOTHESIS_AT_RISK and stop autonomous story changes.

Never refine without an audited F2 Diagnosis that implicates the changed design dimensions. In REFINE, make one targeted change and validate it; reopen broad EXPLORE only with evidence that the mechanism class is wrong. Prepare the expanded Gate 2 summary before asking for a P0-stage user decision.

Keep scientific decisions serial. Parallelize only approved dependency-independent runs whose files and budgets do not overlap. Assign a meaningful approved execution unit rather than invoking specialists for each shell command. Runner may handle bounded F1 repairs; changes of scientific meaning still return here. Auditor may review related runs together, preserving per-run manifests, records and independent judgments. Stop a Card once its acceptance or rejection condition is decided; extensions require a named evidence gap, information gain and cost.

Before selection, Gate, hypothesis-risk, reopening or Freeze decisions, retrieve all relevant omitted candidates, dependencies, negative findings and unresolved gaps. Use exact state fields, registry IDs and tools/context_view.py history/excerpt queries; expand raw sources whenever the view is insufficient. Do not reduce design depth, required seeds or scientific review to save context. Refresh the view after state changes and validate revision before writes.

Default user-facing updates to Current Stage, Current Finding, Decision and Next Action. Ask only for budget/Spine/primary-Claim risk decisions or the existing Human Gates.

Bundled files

The model reads these on demand while the skill is loaded. They are exposed as readable files and are never executed.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Experiment Orchestrator AI skill do?

Direct a claim-driven research experiment project from post-Idea intake through method realization, prioritized evidence collection, Human Gates, and Evidence Freeze. Use for scientific planning, state transitions, queues, budgets, or recovery; not for running code or independently auditing results.

Why use Experiment Orchestrator on TypingMind?

Because you install it once and use it with any model. Experiment Orchestrator is plain Markdown rather than provider-specific code, so the same skill runs on GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model — and you can switch model mid-chat without it breaking. TypingMind runs on your own API keys, so you pay providers directly instead of a per-seat subscription, and your skills and chats stay in your own storage.

How do I install Experiment Orchestrator in TypingMind?

Open Plugins → Skills → Install from GitHub in TypingMind and paste https://github.com/cpt13-g/build-research-evidence/tree/main/.agents/skills/experiment-orchestrator. TypingMind reads its SKILL.md and bundles its files and installs it as a skill you can enable per chat.

Which AI models can use Experiment Orchestrator?

Any model you connect in TypingMind. AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, and local models can all load this skill when a request matches it.

How many AI models can I use with Experiment Orchestrator?

As many as you like. As long as a model supports skills, you can use Experiment Orchestrator with it — GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama and more — all on TypingMind with your own API keys.

Is the Experiment Orchestrator AI skill free?

Yes. It is published on GitHub by cpt13-g under the Apache-2.0 license. You only pay your own AI provider for the tokens you use.

What are AI skills?

An AI skill is a reusable instruction bundle that teaches an AI model how to do one specific task. It follows the open Agent Skills format: a SKILL.md file with a name and description, plus any scripts, templates or reference files the model may need. The model reads the instructions only when your request matches the skill, so an installed skill costs nothing until it is used.

How are AI skills different from plugins or MCP servers?

A plugin or MCP server gives a model new tools to call — code that runs somewhere and returns a result. An AI skill gives the model knowledge and process instead: how to approach a task, which steps to follow, what good output looks like. Skills are plain Markdown, so they need no server, no API key and no runtime, and they work with any model.
