Make new still images from a brief with Glif and save them to a folder: concept art, a series of variations, mockups, posters, illustrations, wallpapers, reference boards or any picture that isn't tied to a web page, app store or game engine. Use when: "make an image of", "generate a picture", "draw me", "I need some concept art", "make 10 variations", "one in each of these styles", "mockup of", "poster for", "wallpaper", "fake screenshot of", "what would X look like as Y", "mood board images", "images for my deck or doc". NOT for: editing an existing image (use edit-images), images that go into a site you're building (use web-visuals), logos or icons (use app-icons-and-logos), store or ad graphics (use app-promo-materials), game art (use game-assets), video or audio (use audio-and-video).

  • Markdown instructions

A SKILL.md file the model loads on demand, so it only costs tokens when a request actually matches.

  • Works with any LLM

AI skills are plain Markdown, not provider-specific code, so this works with GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model.

  • 1 bundled files

Scripts, templates, and references the model can read while it works. Files are read-only and never executed.

  • Open source

Published by glifxyz on GitHub. Read the source before you install it.

Installation

Install the Make Images AI skill in TypingMind to use it with any LLM, or drop it into another agent that reads SKILL.md.

1

Install in TypingMind

TypingMind installs a skill straight from its GitHub folder — it reads SKILL.md, bundles the resource files, and stores the result locally.

  1. Open the app and go to Plugins → Skills.
  2. Choose "Install from GitHub".
  3. Paste the skill folder URL below and confirm.
    https://github.com/glifxyz/glif-mcp-server/tree/main/skills/make-images
  4. Enable the skill in any chat where you want it available.
Plugins → Skills → Add skill → From GitHub URL, then paste the folder URL and press Continue.
2

Install in another agent

Any agent that reads the Agent Skills format can use this skill — copy the folder into that agent's skills directory.

Claude Code — .claude/skills
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/glifxyz/glif-mcp-server.git /tmp/glif-mcp-server
mkdir -p .claude/skills
cp -r /tmp/glif-mcp-server/skills/make-images .claude/skills/make-images
Restart Claude Code after copying so it picks up the new skill.

Use it in TypingMind

Enable Make Images in any TypingMind chat and the model takes it from there. Its name and description sit in the system prompt, and the moment a request matches, the model loads the full instructions itself — you never invoke it by hand, and it costs no tokens until it is actually used.

The model loads Make Images on its own as soon as a request matches it.

Works with any AI model

AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so Make Images is not tied to the model it was written for. Install it once in TypingMind and use it with GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama, or a local model you run yourself — all on your own API keys.

  • Loaded only when it is needed

The system prompt carries just the name and description. The instructions are fetched on the first matching request, so an idle skill costs nothing.

  • Switch models mid-chat

Because the skill is instructions rather than code, changing model does not break it — the next model reads the same SKILL.md.

Skill instructions

This is the SKILL.md content the model loads. Read it before installing — a skill is instructions your model will follow.

Make the images the user described and put them where they can find them. The user's explicit instructions come first, within host safety rules.

1. Write the brief

Say what each image shows, not which model to use. Include:

  • Subject and scene: what is in the picture and what it is doing.
  • Style: a named look (pixel art, watercolor, 1990s desktop screenshot), a palette, lighting and mood. Name a reference style, not a living artist.
  • Size: aspect ratio and pixel size, such as 16:9 at 1920×1080 or 1:1 at 1024×1024.
  • Count: how many images, and what varies between them.
  • Text in the image: the exact words in quotes, kept short. Say "no text" otherwise.
  • References: upload a logo, sketch or style sample with upload_file, only after the user agrees to send that file to Glif. With shell access, pass filename (and kind if unclear), then run the returned command with the real path. Pass the returned fileUrl in attachments. Say what to keep from it: "Use the attached mark exactly, don't redraw it."

A series goes in one brief. Number the items and give each a short name and what makes it different, so Glif can title the outputs to match.

Use real people's faces only with their consent. Don't make images that pass as real photos of real people or events.

2. Check cost, then run once

Generation spends the user's Glif credits. A direct request ("make an image of…") is approval. If the images were your own idea, list them in a line each and wait for a yes.

Call compose_project once with the whole brief. Share the projectUrl. Follow the run with get_job_status, passing the jobId as job_id. A series can take minutes, so keep working meanwhile. A pending status or timeout is not a reason to start another run, and never retry a failure on your own.

3. Save and check

Download every result. In a codebase, use a folder the build does not ship, with a subfolder per series. Check the ignore and build config first, and never use public/ or static/. Elsewhere, use the folder the user named or the current directory.

sh
curl -fsSL "<media url>" -o drafts/posters/01-noir.png
file drafts/posters/01-noir.png
  • Name files after the series item: 01-noir.png, 02-pastel.png.
  • Use the media's MIME type for the extension. Don't overwrite an existing file; add -v2.
  • Check the pixel size. Ask Glif to redo a wrong one in the same project; never upscale locally.
  • Check any text letter by letter.
  • For more than 6 images, build a contact sheet so the user can scan them in one look.

4. Report

Say what you made, where the files are and the projectUrl. Point out the ones that missed the brief. To change one image or add to the series, continue the same project with its project_id and name the item.

Bundled files

The model reads these on demand while the skill is loaded. They are exposed as readable files and are never executed.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Make Images AI skill do?

Make new still images from a brief with Glif and save them to a folder: concept art, a series of variations, mockups, posters, illustrations, wallpapers, reference boards or any picture that isn't tied to a web page, app store or game engine. Why use Make Images on TypingMind?

Because you install it once and use it with any model. Make Images is plain Markdown rather than provider-specific code, so the same skill runs on GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model — and you can switch model mid-chat without it breaking. TypingMind runs on your own API keys, so you pay providers directly instead of a per-seat subscription, and your skills and chats stay in your own storage.

How do I install Make Images in TypingMind?

Open Plugins → Skills → Install from GitHub in TypingMind and paste https://github.com/glifxyz/glif-mcp-server/tree/main/skills/make-images. TypingMind reads its SKILL.md and bundles its files and installs it as a skill you can enable per chat.

Which AI models can use Make Images?

Any model you connect in TypingMind. AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, and local models can all load this skill when a request matches it.

How many AI models can I use with Make Images?

As many as you like. As long as a model supports skills, you can use Make Images with it — GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama and more — all on TypingMind with your own API keys.

Is the Make Images AI skill free?

Yes. It is published on GitHub by glifxyz under the MIT license. You only pay your own AI provider for the tokens you use.

What are AI skills?

An AI skill is a reusable instruction bundle that teaches an AI model how to do one specific task. It follows the open Agent Skills format: a SKILL.md file with a name and description, plus any scripts, templates or reference files the model may need. The model reads the instructions only when your request matches the skill, so an installed skill costs nothing until it is used.

How are AI skills different from plugins or MCP servers?

A plugin or MCP server gives a model new tools to call — code that runs somewhere and returns a result. An AI skill gives the model knowledge and process instead: how to approach a task, which steps to follow, what good output looks like. Skills are plain Markdown, so they need no server, no API key and no runtime, and they work with any model.
