  • Markdown instructions

    A SKILL.md file the model loads on demand, so it only costs tokens when a request actually matches.

  • Works with any LLM

    AI skills are plain Markdown, not provider-specific code, so this works with GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model.

  • 13 bundled files

    Scripts, templates, and references the model can read while it works. Files are read-only and never executed.

  • Open source

    Published by hookdeck on GitHub. Read the source before you install it.

Installation

Install the Affonso Webhooks AI skill in TypingMind to use it with any LLM, or drop it into another agent that reads SKILL.md.

1

Install in TypingMind

TypingMind installs a skill straight from its GitHub folder — it reads SKILL.md, bundles the resource files, and stores the result locally.

  1. Open the app and go to Plugins → Skills.
  2. Choose "Install from GitHub".
  3. Paste the skill folder URL below and confirm.
    https://github.com/hookdeck/webhook-skills/tree/main/skills/affonso-webhooks
  4. Enable the skill in any chat where you want it available.
Plugins → Skills → Add skill → From GitHub URL, then paste the folder URL and press Continue.
2

Install in another agent

Any agent that reads the Agent Skills format can use this skill — copy the folder into that agent's skills directory.

Claude Code — .claude/skills
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/hookdeck/webhook-skills.git /tmp/webhook-skills
mkdir -p .claude/skills
cp -r /tmp/webhook-skills/skills/affonso-webhooks .claude/skills/affonso-webhooks
Restart Claude Code after copying so it picks up the new skill.

Use it in TypingMind

Enable Affonso Webhooks in any TypingMind chat and the model takes it from there. Its name and description sit in the system prompt, and the moment a request matches, the model loads the full instructions itself — you never invoke it by hand, and it costs no tokens until it is actually used.

The model loads Affonso Webhooks on its own as soon as a request matches it.

Works with any AI model

AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so Affonso Webhooks is not tied to the model it was written for. Install it once in TypingMind and use it with GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama, or a local model you run yourself — all on your own API keys.

  • Loaded only when it is needed

    The system prompt carries just the name and description. The instructions are fetched on the first matching request, so an idle skill costs nothing.

  • Switch models mid-chat

    Because the skill is instructions rather than code, changing model does not break it — the next model reads the same SKILL.md.

Skill instructions

This is the SKILL.md content the model loads. Read it before installing — a skill is instructions your model will follow.

Affonso Webhooks

When to Use This Skill

  • How do I receive Affonso webhooks?
  • How do I verify the X-Affonso-Signature header (and X-Affonso-Timestamp)?
  • How do I handle referral.converted, transaction.created, or payout.paid events?
  • Why is my Affonso webhook signature verification failing?
  • Why does verification fail when I hex-decode the Affonso signing secret?

Essential Code (USE THIS)

Affonso sends two headers with every webhook:

X-Affonso-Timestamp: 1704067200
X-Affonso-Signature: 4f2c8a1b9d3e7f0a6c5b8d1e2f3a4b5c6d7e8f9a0b1c2d3e4f5a6b7c8d9e0f1a
  • X-Affonso-Signature is the bare lowercase hex HMAC-SHA256 (64 characters, no sha256= prefix) of "<X-Affonso-Timestamp>.<raw body>".
  • The key is the endpoint's signing secret (a 64-character hex string), used as a plain string. Do not hex-decode it. It is shown once when you create the endpoint.
  • Sign the header value exactly as received, then ., then the raw body bytes. Never JSON.parse / re-serialise first.
  • The event name is the type field in the JSON body (affiliate.created, transaction.paid, ...).

Verification (Node.js)

javascript
const crypto = require('crypto');

// rawBody: Buffer of the exact request bytes (express.raw({ type: '*/*' }), not express.json)
function verifyAffonso(rawBody, timestampHeader, signatureHeader, secret) {
  if (!secret || !timestampHeader || !signatureHeader) return false;
  if (!/^[0-9a-fA-F]{64}$/.test(signatureHeader)) return false; // validate before decoding
  // Optional replay window omitted here (off by default): see "Replay window (opt-in)" below and the examples
  const signed = Buffer.concat([Buffer.from(timestampHeader, 'latin1'), Buffer.from('.'), rawBody]);
  const expected = crypto.createHmac('sha256', secret).update(signed).digest();
  const received = Buffer.from(signatureHeader, 'hex');
  return received.length === expected.length && crypto.timingSafeEqual(received, expected);
}

Verification (Python)

python
import hashlib, hmac, re

def verify_affonso(raw_body: bytes, timestamp_header, signature_header, secret: str) -> bool:
    if not secret or not timestamp_header or not signature_header:
        return False
    if not re.fullmatch(r"[0-9a-fA-F]{64}", signature_header): # validate before decoding
        return False
    signed = timestamp_header.encode("latin-1") + b"." + raw_body
    expected = hmac.new(secret.encode("utf-8"), signed, hashlib.sha256).digest()
    return hmac.compare_digest(bytes.fromhex(signature_header), expected)

Respond 401 when verification fails (missing or empty header, malformed digest, mismatch).

Replay window (opt-in)

Affonso's docs sample rejects timestamps more than 300 seconds from now. The examples leave that off by default: Affonso's own retries (11 attempts over 48 hours) and Hookdeck retries and replays resend the original X-Affonso-Timestamp, so a fixed window would reject legitimate redeliveries. Set AFFONSO_WEBHOOK_TOLERANCE_SECONDS to a positive number (the timestamp is Unix seconds) to opt in; unset or 0 is off. Use the event id for idempotency instead.

For complete handlers with tests, see examples/express/, examples/nextjs/, examples/fastapi/.

Common Event Types

Dispatch on the body's type. Choose the events to send when you create the endpoint.

EventDescription
affiliate.createdA new affiliate signs up (usually PENDING)
affiliate.confirmedAn affiliate is confirmed (ACTIVE)
referral.leadA visitor referred by an affiliate becomes a lead
referral.convertedA referral converts to a customer
transaction.createdA sale and its commission are recorded
transaction.approvedA commission is approved
transaction.paidA commission is paid
transaction.rejectedA commission is rejected (for example after a refund)
payout.paidA payout to an affiliate completes
payout.failedA payout fails

Others: affiliate.updated, affiliate.deleted, referral.updated, referral.deleted, transaction.updated, transaction.deleted, payout.created, payout.updated, payout.deleted, coupon.created, coupon.deleted. See references/overview.md.

For the full event reference, see Affonso's webhook events.

Important Headers

HeaderDescription
X-Affonso-SignatureLowercase hex HMAC-SHA256 of <timestamp>.<raw body>, no prefix
X-Affonso-TimestampUnix timestamp in seconds, part of the signed content

Environment Variables

bash
AFFONSO_WEBHOOK_SECRET=your_64_character_hex_signing_secret   # Settings → Webhooks, shown once
AFFONSO_WEBHOOK_TOLERANCE_SECONDS=0 # optional; a positive value opts in to the replay window

Local Development

bash
# Start tunnel (no account needed)

Frequently asked questions

What does the Affonso Webhooks AI skill do?

Receive and verify Affonso affiliate-program webhooks. Use when setting up Affonso webhook handlers, debugging X-Affonso-Signature verification, or handling events like affiliate.created, referral.converted, transaction.created, transaction.paid, and payout.paid.

Why use Affonso Webhooks on TypingMind?

Because you install it once and use it with any model. Affonso Webhooks is plain Markdown rather than provider-specific code, so the same skill runs on GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model — and you can switch model mid-chat without it breaking. TypingMind runs on your own API keys, so you pay providers directly instead of a per-seat subscription, and your skills and chats stay in your own storage.

How do I install Affonso Webhooks in TypingMind?

Open Plugins → Skills → Install from GitHub in TypingMind and paste https://github.com/hookdeck/webhook-skills/tree/main/skills/affonso-webhooks. TypingMind reads its SKILL.md and bundles its files and installs it as a skill you can enable per chat.

Which AI models can use Affonso Webhooks?

Any model you connect in TypingMind. AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, and local models can all load this skill when a request matches it.

How many AI models can I use with Affonso Webhooks?

As many as you like. As long as a model supports skills, you can use Affonso Webhooks with it — GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama and more — all on TypingMind with your own API keys.

Is the Affonso Webhooks AI skill free?

Yes. It is published on GitHub by hookdeck under the MIT license. You only pay your own AI provider for the tokens you use.

What are AI skills?

An AI skill is a reusable instruction bundle that teaches an AI model how to do one specific task. It follows the open Agent Skills format: a SKILL.md file with a name and description, plus any scripts, templates or reference files the model may need. The model reads the instructions only when your request matches the skill, so an installed skill costs nothing until it is used.

How are AI skills different from plugins or MCP servers?

A plugin or MCP server gives a model new tools to call — code that runs somewhere and returns a result. An AI skill gives the model knowledge and process instead: how to approach a task, which steps to follow, what good output looks like. Skills are plain Markdown, so they need no server, no API key and no runtime, and they work with any model.
