  • Markdown instructions

    A SKILL.md file the model loads on demand, so it only costs tokens when a request actually matches.

  • Works with any LLM

    AI skills are plain Markdown, not provider-specific code, so this works with GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model.

  • Self-contained

    Everything the model needs lives in the instructions — no extra files to sync.

  • Open source

    Published by huaweicloud on GitHub. Read the source before you install it.

Installation

Install the Huawei Rds AI skill in TypingMind to use it with any LLM, or drop it into another agent that reads SKILL.md.

1

Install in TypingMind

TypingMind installs a skill straight from its GitHub folder — it reads SKILL.md, bundles the resource files, and stores the result locally.

  1. Open the app and go to Plugins → Skills.
  2. Choose "Install from GitHub".
  3. Paste the skill folder URL below and confirm.
    https://github.com/huaweicloud/huaweicloud-devkit/tree/main/plugins/huaweicloud-core/skills/huawei-rds
  4. Enable the skill in any chat where you want it available.
Plugins → Skills → Add skill → From GitHub URL, then paste the folder URL and press Continue.
2

Install in another agent

Any agent that reads the Agent Skills format can use this skill — copy the folder into that agent's skills directory.

Claude Code — .claude/skills
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/huaweicloud/huaweicloud-devkit.git /tmp/huaweicloud-devkit
mkdir -p .claude/skills
cp -r /tmp/huaweicloud-devkit/plugins/huaweicloud-core/skills/huawei-rds .claude/skills/huawei-rds
Restart Claude Code after copying so it picks up the new skill.

Use it in TypingMind

Enable Huawei Rds in any TypingMind chat and the model takes it from there. Its name and description sit in the system prompt, and the moment a request matches, the model loads the full instructions itself — you never invoke it by hand, and it costs no tokens until it is actually used.

The model loads Huawei Rds on its own as soon as a request matches it.

Works with any AI model

AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so Huawei Rds is not tied to the model it was written for. Install it once in TypingMind and use it with GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama, or a local model you run yourself — all on your own API keys.

  • Loaded only when it is needed

    The system prompt carries just the name and description. The instructions are fetched on the first matching request, so an idle skill costs nothing.

  • Switch models mid-chat

    Because the skill is instructions rather than code, changing model does not break it — the next model reads the same SKILL.md.

Skill instructions

This is the SKILL.md content the model loads. Read it before installing — a skill is instructions your model will follow.

Huawei Cloud RDS

STOP - Do not answer from general knowledge. Follow the procedure below.

Always run hcloud RDS <Operation> --help before constructing commands to discover exact parameter names and requirements.

Deployment Routing Guard

If this skill was reached via a DEPLOYMENT intent (the database is part of an application deployment, not a standalone ad-hoc operation), this is a cloud resource purchase: load huawei-iac first for orchestration (mandatory cost+balance gate, batch approval, session state, ordered destroy), then return here for the exact instance commands. Sandbox-deployed workloads (huawei-sandbox) bypass iac - no purchase involved.

Prerequisites

Before creating an RDS instance, you MUST have:

  • A VPC and subnet (see huawei-vpc)
  • A security group with database port open (MySQL=3306, PostgreSQL=5432, SQL Server=1433)
  • Run hcloud RDS ListFlavors --database_name=<engine> --cli-region=<r> to get spec codes

KooCLI Command Format

hcloud RDS <Operation> --cli-region=<region> [--key=value ...]
RuleDetail
Service nameRDS (uppercase)
OperationPascalCase: ListInstances, CreateManualBackup
Params--key=value format. JSON params: --key='{"k":"v"}'
Array params1-based: --instance_ids.1=xxx
Password paramConflicts with KooCLI system param; use --cli-jsonInput (see Critical Warnings)

Critical Warnings

TrapWhy
Engine version immutableCannot change MySQL to PostgreSQL in-place
Automated backups use OBSBackup storage incurs separate charges. Set retention period explicitly
Storage auto-scaling off by defaultEnable before storage runs out or instance goes read-only
--password conflicts with KooCLIUse --cli-jsonInput=<file> with JSON file (see --cli-jsonInput section below). The printf "b\n" workaround is broken in KooCLI 7.2.12+
Volume type must match flavorGeneral→CLOUDSSD; Dedicated→CLOUDSSD|ESSD; ARM→CLOUDSSD
Flavor not in regionAlways ListFlavors first. Spec codes vary by region
database_name is case-sensitiveUse MySQL / PostgreSQL / SQLServer / MariaDB — NOT lower-case mysql
Instance creation takes 3–8 minStatus: BUILD→MODIFYING→ACTIVE. Poll every 15s: hcloud RDS ListInstances --cli-region=<r> --instance_id=<id> | jq '.instances[0].status'
Body --region is requiredCreateInstance body requires --region=<r> (same as --cli-region) or DBS.280243
Restore creates new instanceNo in-place restore. Verify target flavor before restoring

Instance Management

List

bash
hcloud RDS ListInstances --cli-region=<r>
hcloud RDS ListFlavors --database_name=<engine> --cli-region=<r>
hcloud RDS ListDatastores --database_name=<engine> --cli-region=<r>
hcloud RDS ListEngineFlavors --instance_id=<id> --availability_zone_ids=<az> --ha_mode=<mode> --cli-region=<r>

Create Instance

bash
hcloud RDS CreateInstance --cli-region=<r> \
  --region=<r> \
  --name=<name> \

  --subnet_id=<subnet-id> \
  --security_group_id=<sg-id> \
  --availability_zone=<az> \
  --charge_info.charge_mode=<mode>

--password conflicts with a KooCLI system param. Use --cli-jsonInput (see below). The printf "b\n" pipe workaround is broken in KooCLI 7.2.12+.

--cli-jsonInput for CreateInstance

json
{
  "path": {
    "project_id": "<project-id>"
  },
  "body": {
    "name": "<name>",
    "region": "<region>",
    "datastore": { "type": "<engine>", "version": "<version>" },

Connecting

bash
hcloud RDS ListInstances --cli-region=<r>  # get private_ips + port
mysql -h <private_ip> -P 3306 -u root -p --ssl-mode=REQUIRED
psql -h <private_ip> -p 5432 -U root -d postgres

hcloud does NOT support SQL execution. Use a database client. For public access, bind an EIP (see huawei-vpc).

Database Client Acquisition

If a database client is not installed on the agent's machine, install one:

PlatformMySQLPostgreSQL
Linuxapt install mysql-client / yum install mysqlapt install postgresql-client
macOSbrew install mysql-clientbrew install libpq
WindowsDownload MySQL Workbench or winget install Oracle.MySQLDownload pgAdmin or winget install PostgreSQL.PostgreSQL
Python (any)pip install pymysql then python -c "import pymysql; ..."pip install psycopg2 then python -c "import psycopg2; ..."
Docker (any)docker run -it --rm mysql:8 mysql -h <ip> -u root -pdocker run -it --rm postgres:16 psql -h <ip> -U root

If no client can be installed, use the Huawei Cloud Data Studio console: https://console.huaweicloud.com/dms/

Mutating Operations (Require Approval)

Frequently asked questions

What does the Huawei Rds AI skill do?

Use when creating, configuring, managing, or troubleshooting RDS instances on Huawei Cloud. Covers MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server. Triggers: RDS, MySQL, PostgreSQL, database instance, backup, read replica. NOT for: GaussDB (use huawei-cloud-gaussdb-instance-management), DDS (use huawei-cloud-dds-dcs-instance-management).

Why use Huawei Rds on TypingMind?

Because you install it once and use it with any model. Huawei Rds is plain Markdown rather than provider-specific code, so the same skill runs on GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model — and you can switch model mid-chat without it breaking. TypingMind runs on your own API keys, so you pay providers directly instead of a per-seat subscription, and your skills and chats stay in your own storage.

How do I install Huawei Rds in TypingMind?

Open Plugins → Skills → Install from GitHub in TypingMind and paste https://github.com/huaweicloud/huaweicloud-devkit/tree/main/plugins/huaweicloud-core/skills/huawei-rds. TypingMind reads its SKILL.md and installs it as a skill you can enable per chat.

Which AI models can use Huawei Rds?

Any model you connect in TypingMind. AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, and local models can all load this skill when a request matches it.

How many AI models can I use with Huawei Rds?

As many as you like. As long as a model supports skills, you can use Huawei Rds with it — GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama and more — all on TypingMind with your own API keys.

Is the Huawei Rds AI skill free?

Yes. It is published on GitHub by huaweicloud under the Apache-2.0 license. You only pay your own AI provider for the tokens you use.

What are AI skills?

An AI skill is a reusable instruction bundle that teaches an AI model how to do one specific task. It follows the open Agent Skills format: a SKILL.md file with a name and description, plus any scripts, templates or reference files the model may need. The model reads the instructions only when your request matches the skill, so an installed skill costs nothing until it is used.

How are AI skills different from plugins or MCP servers?

A plugin or MCP server gives a model new tools to call — code that runs somewhere and returns a result. An AI skill gives the model knowledge and process instead: how to approach a task, which steps to follow, what good output looks like. Skills are plain Markdown, so they need no server, no API key and no runtime, and they work with any model.
