  • Markdown instructions

A SKILL.md file the model loads on demand, so it only costs tokens when a request actually matches.

  • Works with any LLM

AI skills are plain Markdown, not provider-specific code, so this works with GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model.

  • 2 bundled files

Scripts, templates, and references the model can read while it works. Files are read-only and never executed.

  • Open source

Published by JiangNanGenius on GitHub. Read the source before you install it.

Installation

Install the Floe Pdf AI skill in TypingMind to use it with any LLM, or drop it into another agent that reads SKILL.md.

1

Install in TypingMind

TypingMind installs a skill straight from its GitHub folder — it reads SKILL.md, bundles the resource files, and stores the result locally.

  1. Open the app and go to Plugins → Skills.
  2. Choose "Install from GitHub".
  3. Paste the skill folder URL below and confirm.
    https://github.com/JiangNanGenius/floe-agent/tree/main/skill-hub/sources/floe-pdf
  4. Enable the skill in any chat where you want it available.
Plugins → Skills → Add skill → From GitHub URL, then paste the folder URL and press Continue.
2

Install in another agent

Any agent that reads the Agent Skills format can use this skill — copy the folder into that agent's skills directory.

Claude Code — .claude/skills
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/JiangNanGenius/floe-agent.git /tmp/floe-agent
mkdir -p .claude/skills
cp -r /tmp/floe-agent/skill-hub/sources/floe-pdf .claude/skills/floe-pdf
Restart Claude Code after copying so it picks up the new skill.

Use it in TypingMind

Enable Floe Pdf in any TypingMind chat and the model takes it from there. Its name and description sit in the system prompt, and the moment a request matches, the model loads the full instructions itself — you never invoke it by hand, and it costs no tokens until it is actually used.

The model loads Floe Pdf on its own as soon as a request matches it.

Works with any AI model

AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so Floe Pdf is not tied to the model it was written for. Install it once in TypingMind and use it with GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama, or a local model you run yourself — all on your own API keys.

  • Loaded only when it is needed

The system prompt carries just the name and description. The instructions are fetched on the first matching request, so an idle skill costs nothing.

  • Switch models mid-chat

Because the skill is instructions rather than code, changing model does not break it — the next model reads the same SKILL.md.

Skill instructions

This is the SKILL.md content the model loads. Read it before installing — a skill is instructions your model will follow.

PDF workbench

Follow this closed loop for PDF tasks:

  1. Inspect first: document.pdf.inspect for page count, metadata, text, and query matches before planning any edit.
  2. Render only relevant pages with document.pdf.render (single page or a spec like "1-3,5") when visual evidence is needed.
  3. Compose: document.pdf.merge (2-10 PDFs in order), document.pdf.split (extract pages "1-3,5,8-10"), document.pdf.fromImages (one image per page).
  4. Edit with document.pdf.edit: page removal, rotations, watermarks and page numbers. replaceText performs exact case-sensitive native content-stream edits, never a white cover. Existing-font replacements must fit the original bounds. For multi-object text or longer paragraphs, use operations action replaceRegion: inspect the native object inventory, pass the exact expectedObjectCount and enclosing bounds, and supply new text/fontSize. CoreText reflows and embeds searchable Unicode text; overflowing text, partial object intersections and mixed nested forms fail without saving. addText inserts a new text region. This is ordinary editing, not secure redaction.
  5. Advanced operations require expectedSHA256 from the same inspection. Coordinates are unrotated PDF points with a lower-left origin. Page operations include reorderPages (every page exactly once), cropPage (visual crop only, NOT deletion), insertBlankPage. Annotation operations add/update/remove note, freeText, markup, shapes, ink and lines; use 0-based annotationIndex from the current revision. Images support insertImage/replaceImage/removeImage with workspace imagePath, explicit bounds and expected object count for removal. Images stretch to the rectangle; keep its aspect ratio when distortion is unwanted.
  6. Forms and document structure: operations createField/setField/removeField support text, checkbox and choice fields. The existing document.pdf.fillForm provides additional AcroForm filling including radio/option lists. setMetadata updates title/author/subject/creator/keywords (empty value removes that attribute). setBookmarks replaces the top-level bookmark list. flattenAnnotations requires acceptFlattening after consent, preserves page content but removes interactivity; it is NOT secure redaction.
  7. OCR and redaction: searchableOCR uses on-device Vision and rebuilds pages with a recognized, searchable text layer; text may contain recognition errors. rasterRedact rebuilds ALL pages from fresh raster images, masking selected regions before encoding. It copies no original text streams, annotations, forms, attachments, bookmarks or signatures, and verifies image-only output. Both must be the only edit operation and require the user's explicit acceptance of rasterization (acceptRasterization=true). Current bounded workflow accepts up to 50 unrotated pages with matching media/crop boxes. Do not describe ordinary covering, cropping, password protection or flattening as secure deletion. Do not claim PKI signature validation or vector-preserving secure redaction.
  8. Credentials: output protection accepts only saved userPasswordRef/ownerPasswordRef references resolved inside the approved executor. document.pdf.unlock creates a new decrypted copy using passwordRef and verifies reopening; it requires the correct credential and PDF modification permissions, and rejects signed files. Never put plaintext passwords into tool arguments. Signed files are rejected for ordinary edits; only explicitly accepted rasterized unsigned copies are supported.
  9. Save to a new output, reopen with document.pdf.inspect and render changed pages. Existing outputs are refused, including alternate spellings that resolve to the source. Report actual output, digest/reopen evidence and remaining limits. Never silently substitute rasterization or a different editing operation after failure.
  10. Export: use document.pdf.export for real searchable text (text or page-structured json), not Word-layout conversion. Use document.pdf.render for png or jpeg page images. Empty text from scans requires the separate consented OCR workflow, never invented text.

File conversion without model rewriting

Use document.pdf.convert with file paths and a target format for Markdown, Word DOCX, HTML, RTF or text to PDF, and text PDF to those formats. Do not regenerate existing content through the model. PDF creation is paginated; PDF extraction preserves searchable text and page order, not original layout, embedded images or table structure. A scanned/image-only page fails explicitly; use the separate consented OCR workflow first. Source files remain unchanged and outputs must be new.

Bundled files

The model reads these on demand while the skill is loaded. They are exposed as readable files and are never executed.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Floe Pdf AI skill do?

Native PDF editing, region reflow, images, forms, annotations, OCR and verified raster redaction.

Why use Floe Pdf on TypingMind?

Because you install it once and use it with any model. Floe Pdf is plain Markdown rather than provider-specific code, so the same skill runs on GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model — and you can switch model mid-chat without it breaking. TypingMind runs on your own API keys, so you pay providers directly instead of a per-seat subscription, and your skills and chats stay in your own storage.

How do I install Floe Pdf in TypingMind?

Open Plugins → Skills → Install from GitHub in TypingMind and paste https://github.com/JiangNanGenius/floe-agent/tree/main/skill-hub/sources/floe-pdf. TypingMind reads its SKILL.md and bundles its files and installs it as a skill you can enable per chat.

Which AI models can use Floe Pdf?

Any model you connect in TypingMind. AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, and local models can all load this skill when a request matches it.

How many AI models can I use with Floe Pdf?

As many as you like. As long as a model supports skills, you can use Floe Pdf with it — GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama and more — all on TypingMind with your own API keys.

Is the Floe Pdf AI skill free?

Yes. It is published on GitHub by JiangNanGenius under the MPL-2.0 license. You only pay your own AI provider for the tokens you use.

What are AI skills?

An AI skill is a reusable instruction bundle that teaches an AI model how to do one specific task. It follows the open Agent Skills format: a SKILL.md file with a name and description, plus any scripts, templates or reference files the model may need. The model reads the instructions only when your request matches the skill, so an installed skill costs nothing until it is used.

How are AI skills different from plugins or MCP servers?

A plugin or MCP server gives a model new tools to call — code that runs somewhere and returns a result. An AI skill gives the model knowledge and process instead: how to approach a task, which steps to follow, what good output looks like. Skills are plain Markdown, so they need no server, no API key and no runtime, and they work with any model.
