  • Markdown instructions

A SKILL.md file the model loads on demand, so it only costs tokens when a request actually matches.

  • Works with any LLM

AI skills are plain Markdown, not provider-specific code, so this works with GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model.

  • 4 bundled files

Scripts, templates, and references the model can read while it works. Files are read-only and never executed.

  • Open source

Published by Kacep91 on GitHub. Read the source before you install it.

Installation

Install the Figma Ai Bridge AI skill in TypingMind to use it with any LLM, or drop it into another agent that reads SKILL.md.

1

Install in TypingMind

TypingMind installs a skill straight from its GitHub folder — it reads SKILL.md, bundles the resource files, and stores the result locally.

  1. Open the app and go to Plugins → Skills.
  2. Choose "Install from GitHub".
  3. Paste the skill folder URL below and confirm.
    https://github.com/Kacep91/figma-ai-bridge/tree/main/skills/figma-ai-bridge
  4. Enable the skill in any chat where you want it available.
Plugins → Skills → Add skill → From GitHub URL, then paste the folder URL and press Continue.
2

Install in another agent

Any agent that reads the Agent Skills format can use this skill — copy the folder into that agent's skills directory.

Claude Code — .claude/skills
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/Kacep91/figma-ai-bridge.git /tmp/figma-ai-bridge
mkdir -p .claude/skills
cp -r /tmp/figma-ai-bridge/skills/figma-ai-bridge .claude/skills/figma-ai-bridge
Restart Claude Code after copying so it picks up the new skill.

Use it in TypingMind

Enable Figma Ai Bridge in any TypingMind chat and the model takes it from there. Its name and description sit in the system prompt, and the moment a request matches, the model loads the full instructions itself — you never invoke it by hand, and it costs no tokens until it is actually used.

The model loads Figma Ai Bridge on its own as soon as a request matches it.

Works with any AI model

AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so Figma Ai Bridge is not tied to the model it was written for. Install it once in TypingMind and use it with GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama, or a local model you run yourself — all on your own API keys.

  • Loaded only when it is needed

The system prompt carries just the name and description. The instructions are fetched on the first matching request, so an idle skill costs nothing.

  • Switch models mid-chat

Because the skill is instructions rather than code, changing model does not break it — the next model reads the same SKILL.md.

Skill instructions

This is the SKILL.md content the model loads. Read it before installing — a skill is instructions your model will follow.

Figma AI Bridge

Use this skill for the local workflow:

text
Figma Desktop plugin -> localhost bridge -> lean handoff bundle -> Codex implementation

Do not use Figma REST API, Dev Mode MCP, access tokens, or Figma mutation.

Preflight

From the repo root:

bash
./figma-ai-bridge doctor
./figma-ai-bridge status

If the bridge is stopped or stale:

bash
./figma-ai-bridge restart

Health endpoint:

bash
curl http://localhost:4778/health

Capture Boundary

Fully automatic capture from Figma requires the Figma Desktop plugin UI. Codex can automate post-capture work once a bundle exists.

For plugin setup and user-facing troubleshooting, read references/figma-plugin-setup.md.

Bundle Workflow

Prefer commands over manual JSON inspection:

bash
./figma-ai-bridge summary latest
./figma-ai-bridge validate latest

For a specific bundle:

bash
./figma-ai-bridge summary out/figma-bundle_YYYY-MM-DD_HH-mm-ss
./figma-ai-bridge validate out/figma-bundle_YYYY-MM-DD_HH-mm-ss

Read references/bundle-contract.md before judging missing or extra generated files.

Post-Capture Automation

Default automation is Codex-first and batches 3 captures per task section:

bash
./figma-ai-bridge auto latest

This validates the bundle and writes portable Codex task files:

  • codex-visual-brief-task.md
  • codex-enrichment-task.md

Manual alternatives:

bash
./figma-ai-bridge brief latest
./figma-ai-bridge codex latest --batch-size 3
./figma-ai-bridge enrich latest --batch-size 3

./figma-ai-bridge brief latest creates a Codex task by default. Generated public artifacts use English headings by default. External vision providers are opt-in:

bash
./figma-ai-bridge brief latest --provider omp --command 'omp -p --model gpt-5.1 {image_refs} {prompt}'

Read references/automation.md when the user asks for end-to-end automatic operation.

Implementation Reading Order

  1. prompt.md
  2. page-map.md
  3. links-report.md if present
  4. ./figma-ai-bridge summary <bundle>
  5. Each relevant capture's visual-brief.md if present
  6. Each relevant capture's preview.png
  7. Each relevant capture's implementation.md
  8. Each relevant capture's ai-notes.md if present
  9. texts.json only for exact strings omitted from the higher-signal files
  10. design-context.json only for exact geometry, colors, typography, autolayout, effects, and hierarchy

Do not load manifest.json, every texts.json, or full design-context.json files by default. Work only with captures relevant to the requested implementation.

Enrichment Rules

  • Use preview.png once to write visual-brief.md; do not try to replace image inspection with JSON-only analysis when visual fidelity matters.
  • Write generated public artifacts in English by default unless the user explicitly asks for another language.
  • Use existing visual-brief.md and implementation.md first. Inspect preview.png again only when the brief is missing or ambiguous; open texts.json and design-context.json selectively.
  • Keep assumptions explicit. Do not invent business logic.
  • After enrichment, index/visual-briefs.md should link every generated visual-brief.md and ai-notes.md.
  • Index-level reports should be concrete, not placeholders:
    • index/ai-summary.md
    • index/screen-inventory.md
    • index/component-candidates.md
    • index/implementation-risks.md

Failure Modes

  • Bridge unavailable: run ./figma-ai-bridge restart, then ./figma-ai-bridge status.
  • Stale bridge warning: restart before capture; otherwise Figma may use old generator code.
  • No latest bundle: ask the user to run the Figma Desktop plugin or provide a bundle path.
  • Validation errors: fix generator bugs before trusting the bundle for implementation.
  • Cross-file links unresolved: the target file must be open in Figma Desktop; this workflow intentionally avoids Figma REST API.

Bundled files

The model reads these on demand while the skill is loaded. They are exposed as readable files and are never executed.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Figma Ai Bridge AI skill do?

Use when Codex needs to work with this repository's local Figma AI Bridge workflow: start or check the localhost bridge, guide Figma Desktop development plugin capture, locate/validate/summarize generated bundles, create Codex visual-brief or enrichment tasks, or implement UI from a captured bundle. Use for requests mentioning Figma AI Bridge bundles, AI Bridge Batch Capture, ./figma-ai-bridge, prompt.md/page-map.md, visual briefs, Codex enrichment, or no-token/no-REST Figma-to-code automation.

Why use Figma Ai Bridge on TypingMind?

Because you install it once and use it with any model. Figma Ai Bridge is plain Markdown rather than provider-specific code, so the same skill runs on GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model — and you can switch model mid-chat without it breaking. TypingMind runs on your own API keys, so you pay providers directly instead of a per-seat subscription, and your skills and chats stay in your own storage.

How do I install Figma Ai Bridge in TypingMind?

Open Plugins → Skills → Install from GitHub in TypingMind and paste https://github.com/Kacep91/figma-ai-bridge/tree/main/skills/figma-ai-bridge. TypingMind reads its SKILL.md and bundles its files and installs it as a skill you can enable per chat.

Which AI models can use Figma Ai Bridge?

Any model you connect in TypingMind. AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, and local models can all load this skill when a request matches it.

How many AI models can I use with Figma Ai Bridge?

As many as you like. As long as a model supports skills, you can use Figma Ai Bridge with it — GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama and more — all on TypingMind with your own API keys.

Is the Figma Ai Bridge AI skill free?

Yes. It is published on GitHub by Kacep91 under the MIT license. You only pay your own AI provider for the tokens you use.

What are AI skills?

An AI skill is a reusable instruction bundle that teaches an AI model how to do one specific task. It follows the open Agent Skills format: a SKILL.md file with a name and description, plus any scripts, templates or reference files the model may need. The model reads the instructions only when your request matches the skill, so an installed skill costs nothing until it is used.

How are AI skills different from plugins or MCP servers?

A plugin or MCP server gives a model new tools to call — code that runs somewhere and returns a result. An AI skill gives the model knowledge and process instead: how to approach a task, which steps to follow, what good output looks like. Skills are plain Markdown, so they need no server, no API key and no runtime, and they work with any model.
