  • Markdown instructions

A SKILL.md file the model loads on demand, so it only costs tokens when a request actually matches.

  • Works with any LLM

AI skills are plain Markdown, not provider-specific code, so this works with GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model.

  • 4 bundled files

Scripts, templates, and references the model can read while it works. Files are read-only and never executed.

  • Open source

Published by KyaniteLabs on GitHub. Read the source before you install it.

Installation

Install the A11y Pass AI skill in TypingMind to use it with any LLM, or drop it into another agent that reads SKILL.md.

1

Install in TypingMind

TypingMind installs a skill straight from its GitHub folder — it reads SKILL.md, bundles the resource files, and stores the result locally.

  1. Open the app and go to Plugins → Skills.
  2. Choose "Install from GitHub".
  3. Paste the skill folder URL below and confirm.
    https://github.com/KyaniteLabs/tastecheck/tree/main/skills/a11y-pass
  4. Enable the skill in any chat where you want it available.
Plugins → Skills → Add skill → From GitHub URL, then paste the folder URL and press Continue.
2

Install in another agent

Any agent that reads the Agent Skills format can use this skill — copy the folder into that agent's skills directory.

Claude Code — .claude/skills
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/KyaniteLabs/tastecheck.git /tmp/tastecheck
mkdir -p .claude/skills
cp -r /tmp/tastecheck/skills/a11y-pass .claude/skills/a11y-pass
Restart Claude Code after copying so it picks up the new skill.

Use it in TypingMind

Enable A11y Pass in any TypingMind chat and the model takes it from there. Its name and description sit in the system prompt, and the moment a request matches, the model loads the full instructions itself — you never invoke it by hand, and it costs no tokens until it is actually used.

The model loads A11y Pass on its own as soon as a request matches it.

Works with any AI model

AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so A11y Pass is not tied to the model it was written for. Install it once in TypingMind and use it with GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama, or a local model you run yourself — all on your own API keys.

  • Loaded only when it is needed

The system prompt carries just the name and description. The instructions are fetched on the first matching request, so an idle skill costs nothing.

  • Switch models mid-chat

Because the skill is instructions rather than code, changing model does not break it — the next model reads the same SKILL.md.

Skill instructions

This is the SKILL.md content the model loads. Read it before installing — a skill is instructions your model will follow.

Accessibility Pass (WCAG 2.2 AA)

Accessibility means finishing a real task without an avoidable barrier. Repair the failing path; prove it in the rendered interface.

Triage one rendered user path

Write one path before opening a checker: entry → action → result/recovery. Name outcome, affected UI, and smallest viewport or assistive setup that exposes failure.

Path pointInspectRepair when it fails
Entrylandmark, page title, reading order, skip linkgive the page a named, reachable start
Actionvisible focus, native semantics, keyboard order, target sizerepair the control before adding ARIA
Changeerrors, loading, dialogs, live updates, motionannounce the meaningful change without stealing focus
Recoveryerror copy, focus destination, retained input, retryreturn the person to a specific next action
Layout200% and 400% zoom, reflow, narrow viewportremove horizontal loss and clipped controls

Start with native HTML. Use ARIA only for relationships or live behavior native elements cannot supply. A role, audit score, or automated pass never proves the path.

Prove the path in the interface

  1. Tab forward/back from browser chrome through completion; record order, visible indicator, and traps.
  2. Trigger failure by keyboard; confirm purposeful focus, programmatic error association, and retained data.
  3. Read the region with a screen reader or inspect computed name, role, value, state, and description; confirm one announcement.
  4. Measure the rendered foreground/background pair; test reflow at 200% and 400%, including meaningful text over imagery and disabled-looking controls.
  5. Repeat animated interactions with reduced motion; the static path still exposes progress and completion.

A screenshot supports a claim but cannot prove keyboard order or announcements. Automated audits find candidates, not path clearance.

Report a repair ledger

Use this row format for every finding:

Path / criterionObserved failureRepairEvidenceResidual risk
Submit → invalid emailfocus lands on an unnamed summary; inline error is silentmove focus to named summary, link field error with aria-describedby, retain valuekeyboard trace; computed accessibility tree; 400% capturescreen-reader wording needs product review

Separate confirmed defect from design concern. State browser, assistive technology or inspection method, viewport/zoom, and exact reproduction step. If the artifact is absent, stop and ask for the rendered path; never invent evidence.

Delivery/handoff

Prioritize task blockers, frequent-path defects, then polish. Send component lifecycle or form-state questions to the owning skill when the defect is state design, not WCAG repair.

Ship check

  • Named path has keyboard, semantic, zoom/reflow, and dynamic-state evidence.
  • Every finding names control/region, repair, and verification result.
  • Automated checks are discovery, not sign-off.
  • Focus, announcements, errors, and reduced-motion behavior have an owner.

Provenance — standard, not opinion

Grounded in the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA — the conformance target named throughout this skill (keyboard, focus, contrast, reflow, target size, reduced motion, error identification, status announcements). Independent Kyanite Labs synthesis of the standard's success criteria, credited — not copied. WCAG 2.2 is a W3C Recommendation; its success criteria are factual conformance requirements. Hand cognitive-load concerns to cognitive-a11y (COGA).

Contract (generated)

Canonical detail: contract.json.

  • Route: A rendered interface needs WCAG 2.2 AA repair findings verified by keyboard, browser, or measurement.; avoid: The request is only cognitive load or multilingual expansion without an accessibility defect.
  • Exclude: Do not self-attest a fix without browser or source evidence. (+1 in contract.json)
  • Stop / handoff: Stop when the user path or target artifact is unavailable. (+1 in contract.json); receives [component-states, form-ux, responsive-layout, theming, art-direction, cognitive-a11y, color-system, data-viz, deslop-ui, empty-states, i18n-ready, improve-existing-website, micro-motion, web-typography] -> sends [tastecheck-pass]
  • Output: prioritized WCAG repair ledger with measured verification
  • Evidence: table_with_evidence with status, reason, remediation, evidence, provenance.

Bundled files

The model reads these on demand while the skill is loaded. They are exposed as readable files and are never executed.

Frequently asked questions

What does the A11y Pass AI skill do?

WCAG 2.2 AA fix pass for web UI. Use before shipping, or for requests about accessibility, a11y, keyboard navigation, screen readers, contrast, labels, focus, landmarks, target size, reduced motion, or ARIA.

Why use A11y Pass on TypingMind?

Because you install it once and use it with any model. A11y Pass is plain Markdown rather than provider-specific code, so the same skill runs on GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model — and you can switch model mid-chat without it breaking. TypingMind runs on your own API keys, so you pay providers directly instead of a per-seat subscription, and your skills and chats stay in your own storage.

How do I install A11y Pass in TypingMind?

Open Plugins → Skills → Install from GitHub in TypingMind and paste https://github.com/KyaniteLabs/tastecheck/tree/main/skills/a11y-pass. TypingMind reads its SKILL.md and bundles its files and installs it as a skill you can enable per chat.

Which AI models can use A11y Pass?

Any model you connect in TypingMind. AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, and local models can all load this skill when a request matches it.

How many AI models can I use with A11y Pass?

As many as you like. As long as a model supports skills, you can use A11y Pass with it — GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama and more — all on TypingMind with your own API keys.

Is the A11y Pass AI skill free?

Yes. It is published on GitHub by KyaniteLabs under the MIT license. You only pay your own AI provider for the tokens you use.

What are AI skills?

An AI skill is a reusable instruction bundle that teaches an AI model how to do one specific task. It follows the open Agent Skills format: a SKILL.md file with a name and description, plus any scripts, templates or reference files the model may need. The model reads the instructions only when your request matches the skill, so an installed skill costs nothing until it is used.

How are AI skills different from plugins or MCP servers?

A plugin or MCP server gives a model new tools to call — code that runs somewhere and returns a result. An AI skill gives the model knowledge and process instead: how to approach a task, which steps to follow, what good output looks like. Skills are plain Markdown, so they need no server, no API key and no runtime, and they work with any model.
