  • Markdown instructions

A SKILL.md file the model loads on demand, so it only costs tokens when a request actually matches.

  • Works with any LLM

AI skills are plain Markdown, not provider-specific code, so this works with GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model.

  • Self-contained

Everything the model needs lives in the instructions — no extra files to sync.

  • Open source

Published by madebymustafa on GitHub. Read the source before you install it.

Installation

Install the Neo Brutalism AI skill in TypingMind to use it with any LLM, or drop it into another agent that reads SKILL.md.

1

Install in TypingMind

TypingMind installs a skill straight from its GitHub folder — it reads SKILL.md, bundles the resource files, and stores the result locally.

  1. Open the app and go to Plugins → Skills.
  2. Choose "Install from GitHub".
  3. Paste the skill folder URL below and confirm.
    https://github.com/madebymustafa/design-taste/tree/main/skills/neo-brutalism
  4. Enable the skill in any chat where you want it available.
Plugins → Skills → Add skill → From GitHub URL, then paste the folder URL and press Continue.
2

Install in another agent

Any agent that reads the Agent Skills format can use this skill — copy the folder into that agent's skills directory.

Claude Code — .claude/skills
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/madebymustafa/design-taste.git /tmp/design-taste
mkdir -p .claude/skills
cp -r /tmp/design-taste/skills/neo-brutalism .claude/skills/neo-brutalism
Restart Claude Code after copying so it picks up the new skill.

Use it in TypingMind

Enable Neo Brutalism in any TypingMind chat and the model takes it from there. Its name and description sit in the system prompt, and the moment a request matches, the model loads the full instructions itself — you never invoke it by hand, and it costs no tokens until it is actually used.

The model loads Neo Brutalism on its own as soon as a request matches it.

Works with any AI model

AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so Neo Brutalism is not tied to the model it was written for. Install it once in TypingMind and use it with GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama, or a local model you run yourself — all on your own API keys.

  • Loaded only when it is needed

The system prompt carries just the name and description. The instructions are fetched on the first matching request, so an idle skill costs nothing.

  • Switch models mid-chat

Because the skill is instructions rather than code, changing model does not break it — the next model reads the same SKILL.md.

Skill instructions

This is the SKILL.md content the model loads. Read it before installing — a skill is instructions your model will follow.

neo-brutalism

One identity: a skills poster for a product that is unapologetically online — loud, honest, square.

1. PALETTE (Fixed)

  • Paper: #FFF8E7 (warm bright). Alternate field: #FFEFC2 slightly deeper.
  • Ink: #0A0A0A — used for ALL borders (2.5px), text, and shadows.
  • Accents — exactly two: one dominant hot accent #FF3878 (fields, big elements, the hero moment) + one supporting cool accent #7CC6FE (secondary fields, marks, the sticker on the hot field). Two is the ceiling; one is fine.
  • NO gradients, NO soft/blurred shadows (box-shadow must be hard: 6px 6px 0 #0A0A0A style), NO glass, NO dark-mode hero sections.

2. TYPOGRAPHY (Fixed)

  • Display: a geometric grotesk at 700 (Space Grotesk 700, Archivo 800), clamp(2.6rem, 7vw, 5.5rem), leading 0.98, tracking −0.02em. Sentence case is fine; never italic, never lowercase-everything-as-a-trend.
  • Body: same family 400/500, 16–17px, 1.5.
  • Labels: mono caps (IBM Plex Mono, Space Mono), 11px, letter-spacing: 0.06em — stamps, statuses, "NEW", version notes.
  • One emphasis trick set: highlight words by placing them on a translucent hot/sky swatch, or underlining with a 6px ink rule. Pick one, use ≤ 3 times.

3. COMPOSITION (Fixed)

  • Everything is bordered. Every card, button, panel, sticker, input: 2.5px solid ink border, square or pill (no 6–20px soft radius unless the component is a pill). Include the hard offset shadow on 60–70% of elevated elements; flat components (bordered, no shadow) keep the page from tipping into chaos.
  • Hero: giant display + oversized pill CTA + a hot field panel with a sky sticker on it; the panel and sticker can rotate 1–2°. Rotation budget: 3 elements per page max.
  • Color distribution: hot fields ≤ 2 per viewport, sky fields ≤ 2, everything else paper. Never two hot fields side by side.
  • Sections: alternate paper and ink fields (ink sections: paper text). Full-bleed allowed. Pricing: three cards — paper / hot / paper; the hot card gets the biggest shadow.
  • Buttons: min 56px height, 2.5px border, 6px 6px 0 #0A0A0A shadow, pressed state = translate(6px, 6px) with shadow removed.

4. CONTENT TREATMENT

  • No emoji. Decorative marks: ✳, ★, →, ◦, •• and simple drawn SVGs (thick strokes, flat fills, only the two accents + ink).
  • Copy is part of the identity: direct, a little cocky, zero corporate filler ("You probably have better things to do than learn SQL" > "Streamline your analytics workflow").
  • One exclamation mark per page, max. Compliments to the reader allowed ("You're doing great.").
  • Price details formatted like packaging labels: mono, bordered, stamped "MOST POPULAR".

5. MOTION (Snappy, Visible, Short)

  • Entrances: 150–250ms snap with 2px overshoot on the shadow (cubic-bezier(0.34, 1.56, 0.64, 1)), or straight 120ms pops. No long cinematic reveals.
  • Hover: border color flips to an accent, or shadow grows 2px. Press: shadow collapses (see §3).
  • Loops: absolutely none — no marquees, no bouncing arrows, no infinite wiggle. The page is confident, not nervous.

6. CHECKLIST (Fail the Page If…)

  • Any element without a 2.5px ink border (backgrounds and images excepted).
  • Any soft shadow or gradient.
  • More than two accent colors.
  • More than ~3 rotated elements.
  • Any emoji.
  • A "corporate voice" sentence anywhere in the copy.
  • Two hot accent fields side by side.
  • An element that looks like it came from a Tailwind template.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Neo Brutalism AI skill do?

Genre pack: neo-brutalism for the web — loud consumer energy with hard discipline. Bright warm paper, ink-black 2.5px borders on everything, hard offset shadows, one dominant hot accent plus one supporting accent, chunky pills and stickers, playful copy. Use for consumer apps, agencies, crypto/tech novelty brands, and anything wanting maximum personality. Stack on the design-taste core skill.

Why use Neo Brutalism on TypingMind?

Because you install it once and use it with any model. Neo Brutalism is plain Markdown rather than provider-specific code, so the same skill runs on GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model — and you can switch model mid-chat without it breaking. TypingMind runs on your own API keys, so you pay providers directly instead of a per-seat subscription, and your skills and chats stay in your own storage.

How do I install Neo Brutalism in TypingMind?

Open Plugins → Skills → Install from GitHub in TypingMind and paste https://github.com/madebymustafa/design-taste/tree/main/skills/neo-brutalism. TypingMind reads its SKILL.md and installs it as a skill you can enable per chat.

Which AI models can use Neo Brutalism?

Any model you connect in TypingMind. AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, and local models can all load this skill when a request matches it.

How many AI models can I use with Neo Brutalism?

As many as you like. As long as a model supports skills, you can use Neo Brutalism with it — GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama and more — all on TypingMind with your own API keys.

Is the Neo Brutalism AI skill free?

Yes. It is published on GitHub by madebymustafa under the MIT license. You only pay your own AI provider for the tokens you use.

What are AI skills?

An AI skill is a reusable instruction bundle that teaches an AI model how to do one specific task. It follows the open Agent Skills format: a SKILL.md file with a name and description, plus any scripts, templates or reference files the model may need. The model reads the instructions only when your request matches the skill, so an installed skill costs nothing until it is used.

How are AI skills different from plugins or MCP servers?

A plugin or MCP server gives a model new tools to call — code that runs somewhere and returns a result. An AI skill gives the model knowledge and process instead: how to approach a task, which steps to follow, what good output looks like. Skills are plain Markdown, so they need no server, no API key and no runtime, and they work with any model.
