Genre pack: bold, joyful consumer design — giant display type, thick ink outlines, flat vibrant color fields, sticker-like shapes, chunky buttons. For D2C brands, consumer apps, events, education, and youth-facing products. Fun without looking childish: the structure stays strict, only the attitude is loud. Stack on the design-taste core skill.

  • Markdown instructions

A SKILL.md file the model loads on demand, so it only costs tokens when a request actually matches.

  • Works with any LLM

AI skills are plain Markdown, not provider-specific code, so this works with GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model.

  • Self-contained

Everything the model needs lives in the instructions — no extra files to sync.

  • Open source

Published by madebymustafa on GitHub. Read the source before you install it.

Installation

Install the Playful Color AI skill in TypingMind to use it with any LLM, or drop it into another agent that reads SKILL.md.

1

Install in TypingMind

TypingMind installs a skill straight from its GitHub folder — it reads SKILL.md, bundles the resource files, and stores the result locally.

  1. Open the app and go to Plugins → Skills.
  2. Choose "Install from GitHub".
  3. Paste the skill folder URL below and confirm.
    https://github.com/madebymustafa/design-taste/tree/main/skills/playful-color
  4. Enable the skill in any chat where you want it available.
Plugins → Skills → Add skill → From GitHub URL, then paste the folder URL and press Continue.
2

Install in another agent

Any agent that reads the Agent Skills format can use this skill — copy the folder into that agent's skills directory.

Claude Code — .claude/skills
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/madebymustafa/design-taste.git /tmp/design-taste
mkdir -p .claude/skills
cp -r /tmp/design-taste/skills/playful-color .claude/skills/playful-color
Restart Claude Code after copying so it picks up the new skill.

Use it in TypingMind

Enable Playful Color in any TypingMind chat and the model takes it from there. Its name and description sit in the system prompt, and the moment a request matches, the model loads the full instructions itself — you never invoke it by hand, and it costs no tokens until it is actually used.

The model loads Playful Color on its own as soon as a request matches it.

Works with any AI model

AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so Playful Color is not tied to the model it was written for. Install it once in TypingMind and use it with GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama, or a local model you run yourself — all on your own API keys.

  • Loaded only when it is needed

The system prompt carries just the name and description. The instructions are fetched on the first matching request, so an idle skill costs nothing.

  • Switch models mid-chat

Because the skill is instructions rather than code, changing model does not break it — the next model reads the same SKILL.md.

Skill instructions

This is the SKILL.md content the model loads. Read it before installing — a skill is instructions your model will follow.

One identity: a poster you can't walk past — loud, but never sloppy.

1. PALETTE (Fixed)

  • Ground: cream #FDF6EC or bright paper #FFF9EF. Never plain white.
  • Ink: #101014 coat-black for type and outlines.
  • Color fields — two saturated inks max, chosen deliberately: cobalt #2E4BFF, tomato #FF4D2E, banana #FFD100, mint #2BD99B, fuchsia #FF3ED2. One dominant (spread across large fields) + one supporting (accents, marks).
  • Outlines: 2–3px solid ink everywhere shapes meet paper — sticker cut-line aesthetic.
  • No gradients, no drop-shadow blur; hard offset shadows ONLY (6px 6px 0 ink), and only on 2–3 hero elements — one per viewport max.

2. TYPOGRAPHY (Fixed)

  • Display: ultra-heavy — Archivo Black, Bricolage Grotesque 800, or system bold-900. Sizes clamp(3rem, 8vw, 7rem), leading 0.95, tracking −0.02em. Uppercase or sentence-case with a rotated word for emphasis.
  • Body: same family at 500/400, 16–18px, 1.55. Or mono for the technical bits.
  • Labels: mono or bold caps, letter-spacing: 0.06em, 11–12px, always readable on its color field.
  • One emphasis trick allowed: a word underlined with a 6px accent bar, or set on a rotated solid field. Pick one, use it ≤ 3 times per page.

3. COMPOSITION (Fixed)

  • Off-grid energy, on-grid bones: everything aligns to a 12-col grid EXCEPT deliberate 2–4° rotations on 2–3 hero elements (badge shapes, single words, button pair). Rotation is the spice; overuse = broken.
  • Color-blocked sections: alternate paper sections with full-bleed ink or accent fields (ink sections get paper text). This is the structure that makes loud colors feel designed.
  • Sticker components: badges and chips are solid fields with 2.5px ink outlines, square or pill — never gradient, never glass.
  • Hero: huge type + sticker badge + one chunky CTA + color-blocked product panel. Two colors max in the hero viewport.
  • Pricing: 3 chunky cards, each a solid field (paper / accent / paper), ink outlines, hard offset shadow on the featured one only.

4. CONTENT TREATMENT

  • No emoji. Draw simple marks: dot grids, asterisks, arrows (→ with 3px strokes), and hand-drawn-feel SVG squiggles — underlines, scribble circles.
  • Illustration allowed and encouraged: flat geometric shapes (circles, half-circles, spokes) in the two ink colors. No gradients, no 3D, no photorealism.
  • Copy: short, direct, exclamation-mark budget ONE per page. Hype comes from color, not syntax.
  • CTA: chunky — min 56px height, 2.5px ink outline, hard offset shadow, pressed state = shadow removed + 2px translate.

5. MOTION (Bouncy But Brief)

  • Springs: overshoot allowed — cubic-bezier(0.34, 1.56, 0.64, 1) on entrances, 350–500ms, one wave per element (no repetition).
  • Hover: buttons translate −3px with shadow growing +2px. Logo wiggle ≤ 1 time. No infinite loops, no marquees.

6. CHECKLIST (Fail the page if…)

  • More than two saturated colors + cream + ink on the palette.
  • Any gradient or soft blur shadow.
  • More than ~3 rotated elements per page.
  • Any emoji.
  • Body text below 16px or lacking contrast (4.5:1 minimum).
  • Display type under 3rem.
  • Any element of the design that looks scared to be there.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Playful Color AI skill do?

Genre pack: bold, joyful consumer design — giant display type, thick ink outlines, flat vibrant color fields, sticker-like shapes, chunky buttons. For D2C brands, consumer apps, events, education, and youth-facing products. Fun without looking childish: the structure stays strict, only the attitude is loud. Why use Playful Color on TypingMind?

Because you install it once and use it with any model. Playful Color is plain Markdown rather than provider-specific code, so the same skill runs on GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model — and you can switch model mid-chat without it breaking. TypingMind runs on your own API keys, so you pay providers directly instead of a per-seat subscription, and your skills and chats stay in your own storage.

How do I install Playful Color in TypingMind?

Open Plugins → Skills → Install from GitHub in TypingMind and paste https://github.com/madebymustafa/design-taste/tree/main/skills/playful-color. TypingMind reads its SKILL.md and installs it as a skill you can enable per chat.

Which AI models can use Playful Color?

Any model you connect in TypingMind. AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, and local models can all load this skill when a request matches it.

How many AI models can I use with Playful Color?

As many as you like. As long as a model supports skills, you can use Playful Color with it — GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama and more — all on TypingMind with your own API keys.

Is the Playful Color AI skill free?

Yes. It is published on GitHub by madebymustafa under the MIT license. You only pay your own AI provider for the tokens you use.

What are AI skills?

An AI skill is a reusable instruction bundle that teaches an AI model how to do one specific task. It follows the open Agent Skills format: a SKILL.md file with a name and description, plus any scripts, templates or reference files the model may need. The model reads the instructions only when your request matches the skill, so an installed skill costs nothing until it is used.

How are AI skills different from plugins or MCP servers?

A plugin or MCP server gives a model new tools to call — code that runs somewhere and returns a result. An AI skill gives the model knowledge and process instead: how to approach a task, which steps to follow, what good output looks like. Skills are plain Markdown, so they need no server, no API key and no runtime, and they work with any model.
