  • Markdown instructions

A SKILL.md file the model loads on demand, so it only costs tokens when a request actually matches.

  • Works with any LLM

AI skills are plain Markdown, not provider-specific code, so this works with GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model.

  • 5 bundled files

Scripts, templates, and references the model can read while it works. Files are read-only and never executed.

  • Open source

Published by meshy-dev on GitHub. Read the source before you install it.

Installation

Install the Meshy 3d Printing AI skill in TypingMind to use it with any LLM, or drop it into another agent that reads SKILL.md.

1

Install in TypingMind

TypingMind installs a skill straight from its GitHub folder — it reads SKILL.md, bundles the resource files, and stores the result locally.

  1. Open the app and go to Plugins → Skills.
  2. Choose "Install from GitHub".
  3. Paste the skill folder URL below and confirm.
    https://github.com/meshy-dev/meshy-3d-agent/tree/main/skills/meshy-3d-printing
  4. Enable the skill in any chat where you want it available.
Plugins → Skills → Add skill → From GitHub URL, then paste the folder URL and press Continue.
2

Install in another agent

Any agent that reads the Agent Skills format can use this skill — copy the folder into that agent's skills directory.

Claude Code — .claude/skills
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/meshy-dev/meshy-3d-agent.git /tmp/meshy-3d-agent
mkdir -p .claude/skills
cp -r /tmp/meshy-3d-agent/skills/meshy-3d-printing .claude/skills/meshy-3d-printing
Restart Claude Code after copying so it picks up the new skill.

Use it in TypingMind

Enable Meshy 3d Printing in any TypingMind chat and the model takes it from there. Its name and description sit in the system prompt, and the moment a request matches, the model loads the full instructions itself — you never invoke it by hand, and it costs no tokens until it is actually used.

The model loads Meshy 3d Printing on its own as soon as a request matches it.

Works with any AI model

AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so Meshy 3d Printing is not tied to the model it was written for. Install it once in TypingMind and use it with GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama, or a local model you run yourself — all on your own API keys.

  • Loaded only when it is needed

The system prompt carries just the name and description. The instructions are fetched on the first matching request, so an idle skill costs nothing.

  • Switch models mid-chat

Because the skill is instructions rather than code, changing model does not break it — the next model reads the same SKILL.md.

Skill instructions

This is the SKILL.md content the model loads. Read it before installing — a skill is instructions your model will follow.

Meshy 3D Printing

Use Meshy CLI 0.7 (0.7.3 or later) to deliver the requested print files at the intended size, with analysis/repair results where applicable and a slicer handoff when requested. This skill is self-contained. Ordinary digital assets belong to meshy-3d-generation.

RequestRoute
Scale, orient or ground an existing OBJLocal mesh prepare-print; no auth or balance
Open an existing STL or 3MFLocal slicer detect and slicer open; no auth or balance
White model from text or photoGenerate geometry without textures; analyze/repair as needed; prepare the file
Multicolor modelGenerate/reuse geometry; analyze/repair as needed; texture; multi-color-print
Print in separate parts (build plate, colours per part, fewer supports)Generate/reuse geometry; auto-split; slice the parts
Check or fix an existing model (holes, thin walls), any formatFree analyze-printability by task ID or --model-url; repair only if needed
Resize an existing STL, 3MF or GLBScale it in the slicer; only an OBJ is resized locally
Creative Lab figure (a stylized collectible from a photo), vinyl figure, brick figure, lamp, keychain, fridge magnet, keycap or pixel fidget boardPrototype → review → build → select product artifacts
Creative Lab collapsible fidgetOne create from the photo → STL

Colour routes differ: multicolor paints one object's surface for a multi-material printer; a split cuts it into parts, one filament each, and drops the texture (split before any repair; the two do not chain); the pixel fidget board is a product of its own.

A figurine does not by itself require Creative Lab. Infer the route from the intended product; ask about size, color or style only when the missing choice materially changes the result. For an existing model, distinguish local preparation from cloud printability analysis; a local dimension check cannot establish full printability.

Cloud authorization

Before the first command run meshy --version; no need to ask. When meshy is missing or older than 0.7.3, install the newest 0.7.x with npm install -g meshy-cli@0.7 and say so in one line; Setup covers a refused install and a CLI of 0.8 or newer. Local-only work stops at runner setup. Cloud work reuses a verified session. If login is needed, keep auth login --device running (with --region cn for a user in mainland China), show its URL and user code in commentary/progress, never a final answer, and await the same tool session in this turn. After it exits, verify auth status and resume the print job. Never ask for credentials in chat, nor for a "done" message except in Setup's two-step sign-in for a user on a remote chat (a phone through a chat bot); Setup has the host wait procedure.

Printing-specific constraints

  • Repair changes geometry and drops textures. Use repaired geometry downstream and retexture before multicolor output. Use analysis when functional parts, thin features or other requirements make it relevant, with the printer type and print size when known so wall thickness is checked too; its report does not establish material suitability.
  • Prepare a Y-up OBJ as a new Z-up file at the requested height, centered and grounded. Do not repeat the transform or apply it to STL, 3MF, or relief product output. A multicolor 3MF requires no OBJ conversion; cloud print files are scaled in the slicer (Printing recipes, Print size). Product ZIPs and optional lamp bases have distinct handling in Printing recipes.
  • API, downloads and geometry operations use the CLI. Local inputs have a 50 MiB limit, and a local model must be GLB or glTF (multicolor: GLB); an STL, OBJ or FBX goes to Meshy only as an http(s) URL. Every command uses --format json --no-update-check and prints one meshy.cli/v1 envelope; writes carry the resolved --workspace WORKSPACE. Read returned paths and IDs rather than guessing.
  • Submit cloud tasks once with create --async, retain their resource and lineage, and wait on the same task. Keep the turn active during waits. Unknown submission and interrupted downloads are recovery cases, not permission to generate again.
  • Work within the approved scope and budget; propose additional paid stages before spending. Delivery describes applicable estimates. Local preparation and printability analysis are free.

Finish the handoff

Show an available rendered preview and deliver file paths, dimensions, analysis/repair status and reported charges. Launch a detected slicer only when requested or already authorized; launch_requested does not prove successful import or start a physical printer. If no suitable slicer is installed, still deliver the files. Explain relevant remaining checks, such as supports and wall thickness, without describing an untested model as guaranteed printable.

Bundled files

The model reads these on demand while the skill is loaded. They are exposed as readable files and are never executed.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Meshy 3d Printing AI skill do?

Generates and prepares models for physical 3D printing with the Meshy CLI: white and multicolor prints (3MF, STL, OBJ), printability analysis and repair, splitting into parts, Creative Lab products such as figures, lamps and keychains, sizing, and slicer handoff (Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer, PrusaSlicer, Cura). Use when the user wants something 3D-printed or asks for print or slicer files.

Why use Meshy 3d Printing on TypingMind?

Because you install it once and use it with any model. Meshy 3d Printing is plain Markdown rather than provider-specific code, so the same skill runs on GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model — and you can switch model mid-chat without it breaking. TypingMind runs on your own API keys, so you pay providers directly instead of a per-seat subscription, and your skills and chats stay in your own storage.

How do I install Meshy 3d Printing in TypingMind?

Open Plugins → Skills → Install from GitHub in TypingMind and paste https://github.com/meshy-dev/meshy-3d-agent/tree/main/skills/meshy-3d-printing. TypingMind reads its SKILL.md and bundles its files and installs it as a skill you can enable per chat.

Which AI models can use Meshy 3d Printing?

Any model you connect in TypingMind. AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, and local models can all load this skill when a request matches it.

How many AI models can I use with Meshy 3d Printing?

As many as you like. As long as a model supports skills, you can use Meshy 3d Printing with it — GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama and more — all on TypingMind with your own API keys.

Is the Meshy 3d Printing AI skill free?

Yes. It is published on GitHub by meshy-dev under the MIT license. You only pay your own AI provider for the tokens you use.

What are AI skills?

An AI skill is a reusable instruction bundle that teaches an AI model how to do one specific task. It follows the open Agent Skills format: a SKILL.md file with a name and description, plus any scripts, templates or reference files the model may need. The model reads the instructions only when your request matches the skill, so an installed skill costs nothing until it is used.

How are AI skills different from plugins or MCP servers?

A plugin or MCP server gives a model new tools to call — code that runs somewhere and returns a result. An AI skill gives the model knowledge and process instead: how to approach a task, which steps to follow, what good output looks like. Skills are plain Markdown, so they need no server, no API key and no runtime, and they work with any model.
