  • Markdown instructions

A SKILL.md file the model loads on demand, so it only costs tokens when a request actually matches.

  • Works with any LLM

AI skills are plain Markdown, not provider-specific code, so this works with GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model.

  • Self-contained

Everything the model needs lives in the instructions — no extra files to sync.

  • Open source

Published by mvanhorn on GitHub. Read the source before you install it.

Installation

Install the Pp Activity Japan AI skill in TypingMind to use it with any LLM, or drop it into another agent that reads SKILL.md.

1

Install in TypingMind

TypingMind installs a skill straight from its GitHub folder — it reads SKILL.md, bundles the resource files, and stores the result locally.

  1. Open the app and go to Plugins → Skills.
  2. Choose "Install from GitHub".
  3. Paste the skill folder URL below and confirm.
    https://github.com/mvanhorn/printing-press-library/tree/main/cli-skills/pp-activity-japan
  4. Enable the skill in any chat where you want it available.
Plugins → Skills → Add skill → From GitHub URL, then paste the folder URL and press Continue.
2

Install in another agent

Any agent that reads the Agent Skills format can use this skill — copy the folder into that agent's skills directory.

Claude Code — .claude/skills
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/mvanhorn/printing-press-library.git /tmp/printing-press-library
mkdir -p .claude/skills
cp -r /tmp/printing-press-library/cli-skills/pp-activity-japan .claude/skills/pp-activity-japan
Restart Claude Code after copying so it picks up the new skill.

Use it in TypingMind

Enable Pp Activity Japan in any TypingMind chat and the model takes it from there. Its name and description sit in the system prompt, and the moment a request matches, the model loads the full instructions itself — you never invoke it by hand, and it costs no tokens until it is actually used.

The model loads Pp Activity Japan on its own as soon as a request matches it.

Works with any AI model

AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so Pp Activity Japan is not tied to the model it was written for. Install it once in TypingMind and use it with GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama, or a local model you run yourself — all on your own API keys.

  • Loaded only when it is needed

The system prompt carries just the name and description. The instructions are fetched on the first matching request, so an idle skill costs nothing.

  • Switch models mid-chat

Because the skill is instructions rather than code, changing model does not break it — the next model reads the same SKILL.md.

Skill instructions

This is the SKILL.md content the model loads. Read it before installing — a skill is instructions your model will follow.

Activity Japan plan inspection

Use the installed activity-japan-pp-cli binary. In a source checkout, build with go build -o ./bin/activity-japan-pp-cli ./cmd/activity-japan-pp-cli, add ./bin to PATH, and verify activity-japan-pp-cli --version. The installer below applies to released library packages. Run leaf --help when a flag is unclear.

Prerequisites: Install the CLI

This skill drives the activity-japan-pp-cli binary. You must verify the CLI is installed before invoking any command from this skill. If it is missing, install it first:

  1. Install via the Printing Press installer. It defaults binaries to $HOME/.local/bin on macOS/Linux and %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\PrintingPress\bin on Windows:
    bash
    npx -y @mvanhorn/printing-press-library install activity-japan --cli-only
  2. Verify: activity-japan-pp-cli --version
  3. Ensure the reported install directory is on $PATH for the agent/runtime that will invoke this skill.

If the npx install fails (no Node, offline, etc.), fall back to a direct Go install (requires Go 1.26.6 or newer). This installs into $GOPATH/bin (default $HOME/go/bin), so add that directory to $PATH instead:

bash
go install github.com/mvanhorn/printing-press-library/library/travel/activity-japan/cmd/activity-japan-pp-cli@latest

If --version reports "command not found" after install, the runtime cannot see the binary directory on $PATH. Do not proceed with skill commands until verification succeeds.

Inspect Activity Japan plans and future dates in compact JSON. Compare a bounded shortlist against traveler constraints and carry source uncertainty through booking handoff.

Workflow

  1. Get a plan ID from the traveler or an Activity Japan /publish/plan/<id> URL. If they only give a destination or activity type, use the Activity Japan website to identify IDs; CLI search pages are currently WAF challenged.
  2. Run experience detail ID --lang en --agent. Keep name_original_ja, operator_id, option IDs, meeting point, venue, restrictions, cancellation text, and missing separate. The website locale and locale_support_flag do not establish spoken guide languages.
  3. For an itinerary date, run experience sessions ID --date YYYY-MM-DD --agent, then experience price ID --date YYYY-MM-DD --adults N --agent. Use --option ID to inspect one selected price option. A zero yen child or infant option is not an adult price.
  4. If an exact per-person session needs a stock recheck, pass its current session_id to experience check ID --date YYYY-MM-DD --session ID --adults N --agent. Treat the result as an observation. Group-priced quantity checks are refused because the source count basis is unverified.
  5. For 2–5 known IDs, run experience compare ID ID --date YYYY-MM-DD --adults N --age A --max-jpy B --agent. Use --max-minutes N only for total experience duration; mixed source prose remains unknown. unknown is not a match. A subtotal below a budget remains unknown when mandatory fees are unpriced.
  6. Before handoff, run inventory languages ID --agent and experience handoff ID --lang en --agent. experience brief includes a verified canonical URL when the selected language is indexed; otherwise it marks the URL unresolved.

Done when the answer names the exact plan and option where relevant, source URL, Asia/Tokyo observation time, price unit and age band, dated availability state, and unresolved conditions. Never call an observation a reservation.

Quick commands

bash
activity-japan-pp-cli experience detail 62375 --lang en --agent
activity-japan-pp-cli experience sessions 62375 --date 2026-10-08 --limit 5 --agent
activity-japan-pp-cli experience price 62375 --date 2026-10-08 --adults 2 --option 176511 --agent
activity-japan-pp-cli experience dates 62375 --dates 2026-10-07,2026-10-08 --agent
activity-japan-pp-cli inventory languages 62375 --agent

Replace dates with future dates in Asia/Tokyo. stdout is one JSON object; diagnostics are on stderr. --select reduces fields. Session and price results paginate with --page and --limit; truncation and partial failures are explicit. Plan, price and session reads refresh every run. Language inventory has a 24-hour bounded cache; use --refresh for a new sitemap observation.

The public plan endpoints need no credential. The official partner API requires an NDA and commercial agreement. The CLI makes no booking or payment request.

Do not use for

  • Destination or category search without a known Activity Japan plan ID or URL; use the website to identify plans first.
  • Confirming a reservation, payment, or instructor language; this CLI only reports source observations and explicit unknowns.
  • Experiences on other marketplaces.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Pp Activity Japan AI skill do?

Inspect known Activity Japan plan IDs or URLs, compare dated prices and sessions, check language-sitemap coverage, and hand off to canonical booking pages. Use for an Activity Japan itinerary shortlist; destination search is access gated.

Why use Pp Activity Japan on TypingMind?

Because you install it once and use it with any model. Pp Activity Japan is plain Markdown rather than provider-specific code, so the same skill runs on GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model — and you can switch model mid-chat without it breaking. TypingMind runs on your own API keys, so you pay providers directly instead of a per-seat subscription, and your skills and chats stay in your own storage.

How do I install Pp Activity Japan in TypingMind?

Open Plugins → Skills → Install from GitHub in TypingMind and paste https://github.com/mvanhorn/printing-press-library/tree/main/cli-skills/pp-activity-japan. TypingMind reads its SKILL.md and installs it as a skill you can enable per chat.

Which AI models can use Pp Activity Japan?

Any model you connect in TypingMind. AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, and local models can all load this skill when a request matches it.

How many AI models can I use with Pp Activity Japan?

As many as you like. As long as a model supports skills, you can use Pp Activity Japan with it — GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama and more — all on TypingMind with your own API keys.

Is the Pp Activity Japan AI skill free?

Yes. It is published on GitHub by mvanhorn under the Apache-2.0 license. You only pay your own AI provider for the tokens you use.

What are AI skills?

An AI skill is a reusable instruction bundle that teaches an AI model how to do one specific task. It follows the open Agent Skills format: a SKILL.md file with a name and description, plus any scripts, templates or reference files the model may need. The model reads the instructions only when your request matches the skill, so an installed skill costs nothing until it is used.

How are AI skills different from plugins or MCP servers?

A plugin or MCP server gives a model new tools to call — code that runs somewhere and returns a result. An AI skill gives the model knowledge and process instead: how to approach a task, which steps to follow, what good output looks like. Skills are plain Markdown, so they need no server, no API key and no runtime, and they work with any model.
