  • Markdown instructions

A SKILL.md file the model loads on demand, so it only costs tokens when a request actually matches.

  • Works with any LLM

AI skills are plain Markdown, not provider-specific code, so this works with GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model.

  • 5 bundled files

Scripts, templates, and references the model can read while it works. Files are read-only and never executed.

  • Open source

Published by neuromechanist on GitHub. Read the source before you install it.

Installation

Install the Pr Review Toolkit AI skill in TypingMind to use it with any LLM, or drop it into another agent that reads SKILL.md.

1

Install in TypingMind

TypingMind installs a skill straight from its GitHub folder — it reads SKILL.md, bundles the resource files, and stores the result locally.

  1. Open the app and go to Plugins → Skills.
  2. Choose "Install from GitHub".
  3. Paste the skill folder URL below and confirm.
    https://github.com/neuromechanist/research-skills/tree/main/plugins/project/skills/pr-review-toolkit
  4. Enable the skill in any chat where you want it available.
Plugins → Skills → Add skill → From GitHub URL, then paste the folder URL and press Continue.
2

Install in another agent

Any agent that reads the Agent Skills format can use this skill — copy the folder into that agent's skills directory.

Claude Code — .claude/skills
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/neuromechanist/research-skills.git /tmp/research-skills
mkdir -p .claude/skills
cp -r /tmp/research-skills/plugins/project/skills/pr-review-toolkit .claude/skills/pr-review-toolkit
Restart Claude Code after copying so it picks up the new skill.

Use it in TypingMind

Enable Pr Review Toolkit in any TypingMind chat and the model takes it from there. Its name and description sit in the system prompt, and the moment a request matches, the model loads the full instructions itself — you never invoke it by hand, and it costs no tokens until it is actually used.

The model loads Pr Review Toolkit on its own as soon as a request matches it.

Works with any AI model

AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so Pr Review Toolkit is not tied to the model it was written for. Install it once in TypingMind and use it with GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama, or a local model you run yourself — all on your own API keys.

  • Loaded only when it is needed

The system prompt carries just the name and description. The instructions are fetched on the first matching request, so an idle skill costs nothing.

  • Switch models mid-chat

Because the skill is instructions rather than code, changing model does not break it — the next model reads the same SKILL.md.

Skill instructions

This is the SKILL.md content the model loads. Read it before installing — a skill is instructions your model will follow.

PR Review Toolkit

Portable PR review skill adapted for the project plugin. The upstream Anthropic pr-review-toolkit inspired the review lenses; this implementation keeps the procedure and rubrics in references/ so Codex, Claude Code, and Copilot can use the same source of truth.

Review Lenses

  • code: project rules, bugs, contracts, maintainability, security, and performance.
  • tests: behavioral coverage, edge cases, negative paths, and brittle tests.
  • errors: silent failures, broad catches, hidden fallbacks, and unhelpful user-facing errors.
  • comments: comment accuracy, stale documentation, redundant comments, and missing rationale.
  • types: invariants, validation boundaries, encapsulation, and illegal states.
  • simplify: clarity and refactoring opportunities while preserving behavior.
  • all: all applicable lenses. This is the default.

Dispatch

Prefer a fresh-context reviewer when the current tool supports subagents. The reviewer must read references/review-procedure.md and references/review-rubrics.md before producing findings.

For Codex, use references/review-panel-protocol.md to select the bounded native-subagent panel before falling back. The default panel is three Luna/max reviewers grouped by risk; it is not a six-agent lens swarm.

  • Claude Code: run Agent(subagent_type: "project:pr-review-toolkit", ...) if the bundled agent is available; otherwise follow the fallback branch.
  • Codex CLI: invoke the project-preflight skill's bundled <project-plugin-root>/bin/project-preflight --format json executable by absolute path first; do not assume the plugin's bin/ directory is on PATH. When the scope is all (default) or the caller requests a pre-merge review, native_agent_status=available, and no single/inline opt-out is present, dispatch the bounded panel in references/review-panel-protocol.md through the current native subagent surface. Use gpt-5.6-luna at max effort by default, cap the panel at three reviewers, require structured accounting, synthesize and verify findings, and close completed agents. If native subagents are unavailable, or the caller selects a single/inline review, use the existing inline procedure. The copied agents/templates/pr-review-toolkit.toml remains an opt-in configured-agent path when the current Codex surface lacks direct native dispatch.
  • Copilot CLI: plugin installation exposes this skill and, through .github/plugin/plugin.json, the .agent.md reviewer in agents/templates/. Invoke that configured agent when the current Copilot surface supports custom agents. If running outside a plugin install, copy agents/templates/pr-review-toolkit.agent.md to .github/agents/ or ~/.copilot/agents/. If no custom agent is available, use the fallback branch.
  • Fallback: run the review inline in the current context after reading both reference files. This is the portable default path when preflight reports no native subagents or the caller opts out.

Inputs To Collect

  • Scope: PR number, branch range, staged changes, unstaged changes, or explicit files.
  • Lens selection: one or more of code, tests, errors, comments, types, simplify, or all.
  • Mode: advisory review by default; pre-merge selects the bounded panel when available; delta is the round-2 review of fix commits only (one reviewer); single and inline opt out; edit mode is allowed only when the user explicitly asks to simplify/refine or implement review fixes.
  • Round: a review that gates a merge is round 1 (full) or round 2 (delta). There is no round 3 unless the user asks.
  • Overrides: user-supplied model, effort, panel size, lens grouping, or fallback choice always wins over defaults.

Required Workflow

  1. Read references/review-procedure.md.
  2. Read references/review-rubrics.md.
  3. For Codex automatic dispatch, read references/review-panel-protocol.md and run the preflight gate before choosing panel versus fallback.
  4. When the review gates a merge, read references/review-convergence.md: it decides whether round 2 runs, where fixes go, and when to merge.
  5. Inspect the local project rules before generic preferences: nearest AGENTS.md, CLAUDE.md, .rules/, and relevant framework guidance.
  6. Determine the diff scope with git status, git diff, git diff --cached, gh pr view, or gh pr diff as appropriate. For delta, the scope is the fix diff only.
  7. Select applicable lenses. Use code for every review unless the user explicitly excludes it.
  8. If a panel ran, account for every reviewer and synthesize/deduplicate findings; independently verify load-bearing claims and close completed one-off agents.
  9. Report findings first, ordered by severity, with concrete file and line references.
  10. If no actionable findings exist, say so clearly and list any residual test gaps or verification limits.

Output Shape

Use this structure unless the user asks for a different format:

markdown
**Findings**
- Critical: ...
- Important: ...
- Moderate: ...

**Questions**
- ...

**Residual Risk**
- ...

For simplify in edit mode, make the smallest behavior-preserving patch, run the relevant tests or checks, and summarize what changed.

Attribution

Inspired by Anthropic's pr-review-toolkit plugin in anthropics/claude-code/plugins/pr-review-toolkit. The upstream plugin README identifies the plugin license as MIT; this project implementation is written as an original project skill with attribution rather than a verbatim copy.

Bundled files

The model reads these on demand while the skill is loaded. They are exposed as readable files and are never executed.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Pr Review Toolkit AI skill do?

Review pull requests and recent code changes across specialized lenses: general code quality, tests, error handling and silent failures, comments and docs, type design, and simplification. Use when the user asks to review a PR, review recent changes, check tests, check error handling, check comments, analyze types, simplify/refine an implementation, run "review-pr", or before merging phase PRs in the epic-dev workflow.

Why use Pr Review Toolkit on TypingMind?

Because you install it once and use it with any model. Pr Review Toolkit is plain Markdown rather than provider-specific code, so the same skill runs on GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model — and you can switch model mid-chat without it breaking. TypingMind runs on your own API keys, so you pay providers directly instead of a per-seat subscription, and your skills and chats stay in your own storage.

How do I install Pr Review Toolkit in TypingMind?

Open Plugins → Skills → Install from GitHub in TypingMind and paste https://github.com/neuromechanist/research-skills/tree/main/plugins/project/skills/pr-review-toolkit. TypingMind reads its SKILL.md and bundles its files and installs it as a skill you can enable per chat.

Which AI models can use Pr Review Toolkit?

Any model you connect in TypingMind. AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, and local models can all load this skill when a request matches it.

How many AI models can I use with Pr Review Toolkit?

As many as you like. As long as a model supports skills, you can use Pr Review Toolkit with it — GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama and more — all on TypingMind with your own API keys.

Is the Pr Review Toolkit AI skill free?

Yes. It is published on GitHub by neuromechanist under the BSD-3-Clause license. You only pay your own AI provider for the tokens you use.

What are AI skills?

An AI skill is a reusable instruction bundle that teaches an AI model how to do one specific task. It follows the open Agent Skills format: a SKILL.md file with a name and description, plus any scripts, templates or reference files the model may need. The model reads the instructions only when your request matches the skill, so an installed skill costs nothing until it is used.

How are AI skills different from plugins or MCP servers?

A plugin or MCP server gives a model new tools to call — code that runs somewhere and returns a result. An AI skill gives the model knowledge and process instead: how to approach a task, which steps to follow, what good output looks like. Skills are plain Markdown, so they need no server, no API key and no runtime, and they work with any model.
