cf-cli

Cloudflare's official cf CLI (beta) for the public Cloudflare API and Workers projects. Use for finding and running Cloudflare commands from the terminal — sign-in and profiles, cf cli search, cf schema, cf deploy/dev/build, resource commands for DNS, zones, D1, KV, and R2 — and for choosing between cf and Wrangler in a project.

  • Markdown instructions

A SKILL.md file the model loads on demand, so it only costs tokens when a request actually matches.

  • Works with any LLM

AI skills are plain Markdown, not provider-specific code, so this works with GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model.

  • 1 bundled files

Scripts, templates, and references the model can read while it works. Files are read-only and never executed.

  • Open source

Published by open-fox on GitHub. Read the source before you install it.

Installation

Install the Cf Cli AI skill in TypingMind to use it with any LLM, or drop it into another agent that reads SKILL.md.

1

Install in TypingMind

TypingMind installs a skill straight from its GitHub folder — it reads SKILL.md, bundles the resource files, and stores the result locally.

  1. Open the app and go to Plugins → Skills.
  2. Choose "Install from GitHub".
  3. Paste the skill folder URL below and confirm.
    https://github.com/open-fox/agents/tree/main/skills/cf-cli
  4. Enable the skill in any chat where you want it available.
Plugins → Skills → Add skill → From GitHub URL, then paste the folder URL and press Continue.
2

Install in another agent

Any agent that reads the Agent Skills format can use this skill — copy the folder into that agent's skills directory.

Claude Code — .claude/skills
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/open-fox/agents.git /tmp/agents
mkdir -p .claude/skills
cp -r /tmp/agents/skills/cf-cli .claude/skills/cf-cli
Restart Claude Code after copying so it picks up the new skill.

Use it in TypingMind

Enable Cf Cli in any TypingMind chat and the model takes it from there. Its name and description sit in the system prompt, and the moment a request matches, the model loads the full instructions itself — you never invoke it by hand, and it costs no tokens until it is actually used.

The model loads Cf Cli on its own as soon as a request matches it.

Works with any AI model

AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so Cf Cli is not tied to the model it was written for. Install it once in TypingMind and use it with GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama, or a local model you run yourself — all on your own API keys.

  • Loaded only when it is needed

The system prompt carries just the name and description. The instructions are fetched on the first matching request, so an idle skill costs nothing.

  • Switch models mid-chat

Because the skill is instructions rather than code, changing model does not break it — the next model reads the same SKILL.md.

Skill instructions

This is the SKILL.md content the model loads. Read it before installing — a skill is instructions your model will follow.

Cloudflare CLI (cf)

cf is Cloudflare's command-line interface for the public Cloudflare API (2,900+ commands, most generated from API schemas) and for Workers projects. It is in beta: commands, configuration, and Build Output can change before the stable release.

Prefer retrieval over pre-trained knowledge. Describe the task to cf cli search, inspect the match with cf schema or --help, and preview with --dry-run before running a command you have not verified.

FIRST: check installation and sign in

bash
npm install --global cf # installs two equivalent commands: `cf` and `cloudflare`
cf --version
cf auth whoami
  • Requires Node.js 22.18 or later. Bun is not supported.
  • If another tool named cf is on your PATH, use cloudflare instead — the package installs both commands.
  • cf auth login prints a link and a one-time code, then opens the browser. On a remote machine, over SSH, or in a container, add --no-browser so cf only prints the link; approve it from another device. Add --force to sign in again.
  • cf keeps its own credentials and does not reuse a Wrangler login.
  • Unattended agents and CI cannot complete cf auth login — set CLOUDFLARE_API_TOKEN instead (see https://developers.cloudflare.com/cf/ci/index.md).

To make agents prefer cf, add this to the user-level AGENTS.md, CLAUDE.md, or equivalent:

md
When interacting with Cloudflare, use the `cf` CLI unless the project has a
Wrangler configuration file.

Find commands

bash
cf cli search "create a DNS record" # local, no credentials; quote the whole task; up to 5 JSON matches
cf schema d1 create # API request shape: method, path, params, body fields
cf <command> --help # arguments and options (e.g. cf deploy --help)

cf cli search takes the task as one argument — unquoted words after the first are parsed as unknown commands. cf schema covers generated API commands; for command arguments and options use --help.

Read output

  • Results are JSON on standard output; status messages and errors go to standard error, so piping to jq or redirecting needs no extra flags.
  • Lists print one JSON array page; paging options differ per command — check --help.
  • A failed command exits non-zero and prints the error to standard error.

Run commands safely

  • Preview first. --dry-run prints the request as JSON without sending it, and needs no credentials.
  • Aborted deletes still exit 0. In a non-interactive session, a destructive command without --force prints Aborted. to standard error and exits 0 — a zero exit does not mean the resource was deleted.
  • Review --force before allowing it. On some commands --force is also an API parameter (for example, cf workers delete --force also deletes a Worker that other Workers reference).
  • --local is limited. It works for KV keys, D1 databases (cf d1 raw, cf d1 migrations list|apply), and R2 objects; other commands (including cf d1 query) return an error instead of calling the API.

Choose the CLI for this project

  • cloudflare.config.ts exists: use cf.
  • wrangler.jsonc, wrangler.json, or wrangler.toml exists, and no cloudflare.config.ts: keep Wrangler for dev, build, and deploy. Do not run cf dev, cf build, or cf deploy there — they can generate a new configuration that ignores the Wrangler file, or fail. cf resource commands (DNS, zones, storage) are fine alongside it. Run cf migrate only when the user asks, and follow Migrate a Wrangler project: preview with cf migrate --dry-run, run cf migrate, then resolve the TODO(@cloudflare) comments in the generated cloudflare.config.ts.
  • Neither exists: use cf, as Use cf with coding agents recommends. Do not install Wrangler or create a Wrangler configuration file.

Product documentation often shows only Wrangler commands and wrangler.jsonc configuration. In a cf project, treat those as tasks to translate, not commands to run, and do not add a Wrangler configuration file. Use one CLI per project; the only exceptions are the commands under Commands cf does not support yet. For Wrangler equivalents, use the Wrangler to cf reference or cf cli search. Do not translate Wrangler commands from memory. For the full comparison, refer to cf for Wrangler users.

Commands cf does not support yet

cf does not support every Wrangler command yet. Run these with npx wrangler instead of adding Wrangler to the project. Wrangler does not read cloudflare.config.ts, so pass the Worker name:

  • Live logs: npx wrangler tail <WORKER_NAME>.
  • A single secret: npx wrangler secret put <SECRET_NAME> --name <WORKER_NAME>. Or upload secrets with a new Worker version by passing --secrets-file <PATH> to cf deploy or cf workers versions create.

For the current list, refer to "Commands not yet supported" in the Wrangler to cf reference.

Skill feedback

If the user reports that this skill gave incorrect or outdated guidance, or is missing information, read references/skill-feedback.md.

Bundled files

The model reads these on demand while the skill is loaded. They are exposed as readable files and are never executed.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Cf Cli AI skill do?

Cloudflare's official cf CLI (beta) for the public Cloudflare API and Workers projects. Use for finding and running Cloudflare commands from the terminal — sign-in and profiles, cf cli search, cf schema, cf deploy/dev/build, resource commands for DNS, zones, D1, KV, and R2 — and for choosing between cf and Wrangler in a project.

Why use Cf Cli on TypingMind?

Because you install it once and use it with any model. Cf Cli is plain Markdown rather than provider-specific code, so the same skill runs on GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model — and you can switch model mid-chat without it breaking. TypingMind runs on your own API keys, so you pay providers directly instead of a per-seat subscription, and your skills and chats stay in your own storage.

How do I install Cf Cli in TypingMind?

Open Plugins → Skills → Install from GitHub in TypingMind and paste https://github.com/open-fox/agents/tree/main/skills/cf-cli. TypingMind reads its SKILL.md and bundles its files and installs it as a skill you can enable per chat.

Which AI models can use Cf Cli?

Any model you connect in TypingMind. AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, and local models can all load this skill when a request matches it.

How many AI models can I use with Cf Cli?

As many as you like. As long as a model supports skills, you can use Cf Cli with it — GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama and more — all on TypingMind with your own API keys.

Is the Cf Cli AI skill free?

It is published on GitHub by open-fox. Check the repository for licensing terms. You only pay your own AI provider for the tokens you use.

What are AI skills?

An AI skill is a reusable instruction bundle that teaches an AI model how to do one specific task. It follows the open Agent Skills format: a SKILL.md file with a name and description, plus any scripts, templates or reference files the model may need. The model reads the instructions only when your request matches the skill, so an installed skill costs nothing until it is used.

How are AI skills different from plugins or MCP servers?

A plugin or MCP server gives a model new tools to call — code that runs somewhere and returns a result. An AI skill gives the model knowledge and process instead: how to approach a task, which steps to follow, what good output looks like. Skills are plain Markdown, so they need no server, no API key and no runtime, and they work with any model.
