  • Markdown instructions

    A SKILL.md file the model loads on demand, so it only costs tokens when a request actually matches.

  • Works with any LLM

    AI skills are plain Markdown, not provider-specific code, so this works with GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model.

  • Self-contained

    Everything the model needs lives in the instructions — no extra files to sync.

  • Open source

    Published by reason-machines on GitHub. Read the source before you install it.

Installation

Install the Awesome Design Md Jp AI skill in TypingMind to use it with any LLM, or drop it into another agent that reads SKILL.md.

1

Install in TypingMind

TypingMind installs a skill straight from its GitHub folder — it reads SKILL.md, bundles the resource files, and stores the result locally.

  1. Open the app and go to Plugins → Skills.
  2. Choose "Install from GitHub".
  3. Paste the skill folder URL below and confirm.
  4. Enable the skill in any chat where you want it available.
Plugins → Skills → Add skill → From GitHub URL, then paste the folder URL and press Continue.
2

Install in another agent

Any agent that reads the Agent Skills format can use this skill — copy the folder into that agent's skills directory.

Claude Code — .claude/skills
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/reason-machines/trending-skills.git /tmp/trending-skills
mkdir -p .claude/skills
cp -r /tmp/trending-skills/skills/awesome-design-md-jp .claude/skills/awesome-design-md-jp
Restart Claude Code after copying so it picks up the new skill.

Use it in TypingMind

Enable Awesome Design Md Jp in any TypingMind chat and the model takes it from there. Its name and description sit in the system prompt, and the moment a request matches, the model loads the full instructions itself — you never invoke it by hand, and it costs no tokens until it is actually used.

The model loads Awesome Design Md Jp on its own as soon as a request matches it.

Works with any AI model

AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so Awesome Design Md Jp is not tied to the model it was written for. Install it once in TypingMind and use it with GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama, or a local model you run yourself — all on your own API keys.

  • Loaded only when it is needed

    The system prompt carries just the name and description. The instructions are fetched on the first matching request, so an idle skill costs nothing.

  • Switch models mid-chat

    Because the skill is instructions rather than code, changing model does not break it — the next model reads the same SKILL.md.

Skill instructions

This is the SKILL.md content the model loads. Read it before installing — a skill is instructions your model will follow.

Awesome Design MD JP

Skill by ara.so — Daily 2026 Skills collection.

A curated collection of DESIGN.md files for Japanese web services, extending the Google Stitch DESIGN.md format with CJK typography, Japanese font stacks, kinsoku shori (禁則処理), and mixed typesetting (混植) rules — enabling AI agents to generate accurate Japanese UI.

What This Project Does

DESIGN.md is a plain-text markdown file AI coding agents read to generate consistent UI. This project extends that format for Japanese services, covering:

  • CJK font-family fallback chains (和文 → 欧文 → generic)
  • Higher line-height (1.5–2.0 vs Western 1.4–1.5)
  • Japanese letter-spacing (0.04em0.1em for body text)
  • Kinsoku shori (禁則処理) — CJK punctuation line-break rules
  • OpenType features (palt, kern) for proportional typesetting
  • Mixed typesetting (混植) — combining Japanese and Latin typefaces

24 reference DESIGN.md files are included: Apple Japan, MUJI, Mercari, SmartHR, freee, note, LINE, Rakuten, Qiita, Zenn, pixiv, and more.

Installation / Setup

Clone or reference the repository directly — no build step required.

bash
git clone https://github.com/kzhrknt/awesome-design-md-jp.git

markdown
- Font: Serif for premium feel; sans for utility text
- Line-height: 2.0 (generous whitespace)
- Letter-spacing: 0.08em (airy)
- Achromatic or very restrained palette
- High-quality imagery as primary content

Telling an AI Agent to Use DESIGN.md

When the file is at your project root, reference it explicitly in your prompt:

Read DESIGN.md and create a Japanese landing page hero section following
the typography and color specifications defined there. Use the exact
font-family fallback chain, line-height, and letter-spacing values specified.
Implement kinsoku shori with line-break: strict.

For Claude Code / Cursor, you can also reference specific sections:

Following DESIGN.md section 3.3 (Japanese Typography Rules), update the
global CSS to add proper kinsoku shori, font-feature-settings, and
-webkit-font-smoothing for all text elements.

Troubleshooting

AI generates wrong Japanese fonts

Problem: Agent uses "MS Gothic" or generic sans-serif only.
Fix: Make font-family fallback chain explicit in DESIGN.md with comments explaining each fallback's platform target.

markdown
### Font Stack (REQUIRED — do not simplify)
```css
font-family:
  "Noto Sans JP",              /* web font — always load via Google Fonts */
  "Hiragino Kaku Gothic ProN", /* macOS / iOS system */
  "Hiragino Sans",             /* macOS 10.11+ */
  "Meiryo",                    /* Windows */
  "Yu Gothic",                 /* Windows 8.1+ */
  sans-serif;                  /* absolute fallback */
### Line-height too tight on Japanese text
**Problem:** Agent uses `line-height: 1.5` from a Western design system.
**Fix:** Specify explicitly in DESIGN.md with a note:
```markdown
**IMPORTANT:** Japanese body text requires line-height 1.7–2.0,
NOT the Western default of 1.4–1.5. Use 1.8 for standard body copy.

Punctuation appearing at line start/end incorrectly

Problem: or wraps to start of next line; hangs at end.
Fix: Add kinsoku rules explicitly:

markdown
### Kinsoku Shori (禁則処理) — REQUIRED
```css
p { line-break: strict; word-break: normal; overflow-wrap: break-word; }
Characters that MUST NOT start a line: )」』】、。・:;?!…― Characters that MUST NOT end a line: (「『【
### Proportional punctuation not activating
**Problem:** Japanese commas and periods render full-width, looking too spaced.
**Fix:** Ensure font-feature-settings is applied:
```markdown
font-feature-settings: "palt" 1, "kern" 1;
/* palt = proportional alternates — narrows full-width punctuation */
/* Required for Noto Sans JP, Hiragino fonts */

Mixed Japanese/Latin spacing looks wrong

Problem: Latin letters inside Japanese text have no breathing room.
Fix: Document the spacing rule in DESIGN.md:

markdown
### Mixed Typesetting (混植)
- Insert a thin space (U+202F or 0.25em margin) between Japanese and Latin runs
- OR use CSS: `ruby { margin: 0 0.1em; }` pattern
- Preferred: use a font that handles this (Noto CJK with auto-spacing)

Frequently asked questions

What does the Awesome Design Md Jp AI skill do?

Create accurate Japanese UI DESIGN.md files for AI agents with proper CJK typography, font stacks, line-height, kinsoku shori, and mixed typesetting rules.

Why use Awesome Design Md Jp on TypingMind?

Because you install it once and use it with any model. Awesome Design Md Jp is plain Markdown rather than provider-specific code, so the same skill runs on GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model — and you can switch model mid-chat without it breaking. TypingMind runs on your own API keys, so you pay providers directly instead of a per-seat subscription, and your skills and chats stay in your own storage.

How do I install Awesome Design Md Jp in TypingMind?

Open Plugins → Skills → Install from GitHub in TypingMind and paste https://github.com/reason-machines/trending-skills/tree/main/skills/awesome-design-md-jp. TypingMind reads its SKILL.md and installs it as a skill you can enable per chat.

Which AI models can use Awesome Design Md Jp?

Any model you connect in TypingMind. AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, and local models can all load this skill when a request matches it.

How many AI models can I use with Awesome Design Md Jp?

As many as you like. As long as a model supports skills, you can use Awesome Design Md Jp with it — GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama and more — all on TypingMind with your own API keys.

Is the Awesome Design Md Jp AI skill free?

It is published on GitHub by reason-machines. Check the repository for licensing terms. You only pay your own AI provider for the tokens you use.

What are AI skills?

An AI skill is a reusable instruction bundle that teaches an AI model how to do one specific task. It follows the open Agent Skills format: a SKILL.md file with a name and description, plus any scripts, templates or reference files the model may need. The model reads the instructions only when your request matches the skill, so an installed skill costs nothing until it is used.

How are AI skills different from plugins or MCP servers?

A plugin or MCP server gives a model new tools to call — code that runs somewhere and returns a result. An AI skill gives the model knowledge and process instead: how to approach a task, which steps to follow, what good output looks like. Skills are plain Markdown, so they need no server, no API key and no runtime, and they work with any model.
