  • Markdown instructions

A SKILL.md file the model loads on demand, so it only costs tokens when a request actually matches.

  • Works with any LLM

AI skills are plain Markdown, not provider-specific code, so this works with GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model.

  • 2 bundled files

Scripts, templates, and references the model can read while it works. Files are read-only and never executed.

  • Open source

Published by sagirimo on GitHub. Read the source before you install it.

Installation

Install the Data Format Bridge AI skill in TypingMind to use it with any LLM, or drop it into another agent that reads SKILL.md.

1

Install in TypingMind

TypingMind installs a skill straight from its GitHub folder — it reads SKILL.md, bundles the resource files, and stores the result locally.

  1. Open the app and go to Plugins → Skills.
  2. Choose "Install from GitHub".
  3. Paste the skill folder URL below and confirm.
    https://github.com/sagirimo/BioDSH/tree/main/biodsh-core/skills/data-format-bridge
  4. Enable the skill in any chat where you want it available.
Plugins → Skills → Add skill → From GitHub URL, then paste the folder URL and press Continue.
2

Install in another agent

Any agent that reads the Agent Skills format can use this skill — copy the folder into that agent's skills directory.

Claude Code — .claude/skills
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/sagirimo/BioDSH.git /tmp/BioDSH
mkdir -p .claude/skills
cp -r /tmp/BioDSH/biodsh-core/skills/data-format-bridge .claude/skills/data-format-bridge
Restart Claude Code after copying so it picks up the new skill.

Use it in TypingMind

Enable Data Format Bridge in any TypingMind chat and the model takes it from there. Its name and description sit in the system prompt, and the moment a request matches, the model loads the full instructions itself — you never invoke it by hand, and it costs no tokens until it is actually used.

The model loads Data Format Bridge on its own as soon as a request matches it.

Works with any AI model

AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so Data Format Bridge is not tied to the model it was written for. Install it once in TypingMind and use it with GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama, or a local model you run yourself — all on your own API keys.

  • Loaded only when it is needed

The system prompt carries just the name and description. The instructions are fetched on the first matching request, so an idle skill costs nothing.

  • Switch models mid-chat

Because the skill is instructions rather than code, changing model does not break it — the next model reads the same SKILL.md.

Skill instructions

This is the SKILL.md content the model loads. Read it before installing — a skill is instructions your model will follow.

Data format bridge (SPSS / R / Prism / Excel / Stata)

Use this skill whenever a result table has to leave Python: the user says "导出成 SPSS 能打开的", "给我 Prism 能画图的表", "整理成 Excel", "我想在 R 里接着分析", "Stata 文件", or an analysis skill has produced CSVs that a clinician will take to their own statistics software. Also use inspect to look inside files the user brings (.sav, .dta, .rds, .xlsx, .h5ad) before doing anything with them.

Target mapping — what the user says → what you write:

user says--tofiles produced
SPSSsav<name>.sav (original column names kept as variable labels)
R / RStudior<name>.rds + <name>_load.R (readRDS, str, ggplot skeleton) — rds alone gives only the .rds
GraphPad Prismpzfx<name>.pzfx (Column table, one column per group) and <name>_prism_wide.csv
Excelxlsxone sheet per table, frozen header row, auto column widths
Statadta<name>.dta (labels kept)
plain / "通用"csvUTF-8-BOM CSV (Excel/Prism friendly), optional long→wide pivot

Commands

bash
python "<skill dir>/convert.py" inspect --input results/de_table.csv [--sheet obs]
python "<skill dir>/convert.py" convert --input results/de_table.csv --to sav
python "<skill dir>/convert.py" convert --input results/scores.csv --to pzfx --group-col group --value-col score
python "<skill dir>/convert.py" convert --input results/scores.csv --to r [--columns patient,group,score]
python "<skill dir>/convert.py" convert --input results/book.xlsx --to xlsx --sheet Sheet2 --out exports/clean.xlsx
python "<skill dir>/convert.py" h5ad-tables --input data/adata.h5ad --out exports/adata_tables --genes CD8A,GZMB,PDCD1
  • inspect prints shape, columns, dtypes, first 5 rows, missing counts (and SPSS/Stata variable labels when present). For .h5ad it reads only obs/var (no expression matrix); use --sheet obs|var.
  • convert writes into ./exports/ under the current workspace unless --out is given; existing files are never overwritten (a _1, _2 suffix is added and reported in notes). The input file is never modified, and --out equal to the input is refused.
  • --group-col/--value-col pivots a long table (one row per measurement) into one column per group — this is what Prism's Column tables and t-test/ANOVA dialogs expect. Without it, pzfx uses every numeric column as a group and reports what it dropped.
  • h5ad-tables writes obs.csv, var.csv, and with --genes an obs_with_genes.csv (per-cell metadata + expression of those genes, taken as stored in X or --layer). Feed that file back into convert --to sav|pzfx|xlsx for per-cell / per-group statistics outside Python.

Read the JSON output and relay it

Every run reports files, columns_out, and for SPSS/Stata renamed_columns (SPSS names must be ≤64 bytes, letters/digits/underscore, no leading digit, no reserved words like ALL; Stata ≤32 chars) plus type_changes (bool → 0/1, categorical → string, timezone dropped). Tell the user which columns were renamed — the original names are preserved as variable labels so they still appear in SPSS "Variable View" / Stata describe.

After converting, always tell the user the absolute file path and how to open it:

  • SPSS: 文件(File) → 打开(Open) → 数据(Data),选择 .sav;原列名在“变量标签”中。
  • Prism: File → Open 打开 .pzfx;如果 Prism 报错或版本较旧,新建 Column 表后 File → Import 导入 *_prism_wide.csv(CSV/XLSX 导入是最稳妥的路线,.pzfx 是按 Prism 8 的 XML 结构手写的最小文件)。
  • R: 打开 *_load.R,逐行运行;或 df <- readRDS("<path>")。
  • Excel: 直接双击;Stata: File → Open 或 use "<path>", clear。

Environment

Reading needs only pandas. Writers are imported lazily: pyreadstat (sav/dta), pyreadr (rds/r), openpyxl (xlsx), anndata (h5ad). If a run errors with "package ... is not installed", run the uv pip install <pkg> command from the message and retry; the BioDSH env pack “统计与临床” installs pyreadstat and openpyxl (add pyreadr with uv pip install pyreadr).

Rules

  • Never overwrite or edit the input; never write outside exports/ unless the user asked for a specific --out.
  • Do not "fix" the data while converting (no dropping rows, no recoding) — if the table needs cleaning, do it as a separate, explained step and keep the original.
  • Missing values stay missing (empty cell in Prism/Excel, system-missing in SPSS/Stata, NA in R); say so if the user asks about blanks.

Bundled files

The model reads these on demand while the skill is loaded. They are exposed as readable files and are never executed.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Data Format Bridge AI skill do?

Convert analysis tables (csv/tsv/xlsx/parquet/h5ad obs-var/rds/sav/dta) into the formats clinicians and statisticians open directly — SPSS .sav, Stata .dta, R .rds with a ready-to-run .R script, GraphPad Prism .pzfx plus a Prism-ready wide CSV, and tidy Excel workbooks. Never touches the input file.

Why use Data Format Bridge on TypingMind?

Because you install it once and use it with any model. Data Format Bridge is plain Markdown rather than provider-specific code, so the same skill runs on GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model — and you can switch model mid-chat without it breaking. TypingMind runs on your own API keys, so you pay providers directly instead of a per-seat subscription, and your skills and chats stay in your own storage.

How do I install Data Format Bridge in TypingMind?

Open Plugins → Skills → Install from GitHub in TypingMind and paste https://github.com/sagirimo/BioDSH/tree/main/biodsh-core/skills/data-format-bridge. TypingMind reads its SKILL.md and bundles its files and installs it as a skill you can enable per chat.

Which AI models can use Data Format Bridge?

Any model you connect in TypingMind. AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, and local models can all load this skill when a request matches it.

How many AI models can I use with Data Format Bridge?

As many as you like. As long as a model supports skills, you can use Data Format Bridge with it — GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama and more — all on TypingMind with your own API keys.

Is the Data Format Bridge AI skill free?

Yes. It is published on GitHub by sagirimo under the MIT license. You only pay your own AI provider for the tokens you use.

What are AI skills?

An AI skill is a reusable instruction bundle that teaches an AI model how to do one specific task. It follows the open Agent Skills format: a SKILL.md file with a name and description, plus any scripts, templates or reference files the model may need. The model reads the instructions only when your request matches the skill, so an installed skill costs nothing until it is used.

How are AI skills different from plugins or MCP servers?

A plugin or MCP server gives a model new tools to call — code that runs somewhere and returns a result. An AI skill gives the model knowledge and process instead: how to approach a task, which steps to follow, what good output looks like. Skills are plain Markdown, so they need no server, no API key and no runtime, and they work with any model.
