  • Markdown instructions

A SKILL.md file the model loads on demand, so it only costs tokens when a request actually matches.

  • Works with any LLM

AI skills are plain Markdown, not provider-specific code, so this works with GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model.

  • 2 bundled files

Scripts, templates, and references the model can read while it works. Files are read-only and never executed.

  • Open source

Published by somnus0x on GitHub. Read the source before you install it.

Installation

Install the Ai Slop Detection AI skill in TypingMind to use it with any LLM, or drop it into another agent that reads SKILL.md.

1

Install in TypingMind

TypingMind installs a skill straight from its GitHub folder — it reads SKILL.md, bundles the resource files, and stores the result locally.

  1. Open the app and go to Plugins → Skills.
  2. Choose "Install from GitHub".
  3. Paste the skill folder URL below and confirm.
    https://github.com/somnus0x/agt-skill-pack/tree/main/skills/ai-slop-detection
  4. Enable the skill in any chat where you want it available.
Plugins → Skills → Add skill → From GitHub URL, then paste the folder URL and press Continue.
2

Install in another agent

Any agent that reads the Agent Skills format can use this skill — copy the folder into that agent's skills directory.

Claude Code — .claude/skills
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/somnus0x/agt-skill-pack.git /tmp/agt-skill-pack
mkdir -p .claude/skills
cp -r /tmp/agt-skill-pack/skills/ai-slop-detection .claude/skills/ai-slop-detection
Restart Claude Code after copying so it picks up the new skill.

Use it in TypingMind

Enable Ai Slop Detection in any TypingMind chat and the model takes it from there. Its name and description sit in the system prompt, and the moment a request matches, the model loads the full instructions itself — you never invoke it by hand, and it costs no tokens until it is actually used.

The model loads Ai Slop Detection on its own as soon as a request matches it.

Works with any AI model

AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so Ai Slop Detection is not tied to the model it was written for. Install it once in TypingMind and use it with GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama, or a local model you run yourself — all on your own API keys.

  • Loaded only when it is needed

The system prompt carries just the name and description. The instructions are fetched on the first matching request, so an idle skill costs nothing.

  • Switch models mid-chat

Because the skill is instructions rather than code, changing model does not break it — the next model reads the same SKILL.md.

Skill instructions

This is the SKILL.md content the model loads. Read it before installing — a skill is instructions your model will follow.

AI Slop Detection — Does Your UI Look AI-Generated?

The fingerprint test: if you showed your interface to someone and said "AI made this," would they believe you immediately? If yes, the design has failed.

A distinctive interface makes someone ask "how was this made?" — not "which AI made this."

The Tells

These are the patterns of 2024-2025 AI-generated frontends. Flag ANY of these during review.

The AI Color Palette

  • Cyan-on-dark, purple-to-blue gradients, neon accents on dark backgrounds
  • Gradient text on headings or metrics — decorative, not meaningful
  • Dark mode with glowing accents as default (looks "cool" without requiring actual design decisions)
  • Pure black (#000) or pure white (#fff) backgrounds — neither exists in nature; always tint

The AI Layout Template

  • Hero metric layout: big number, small label, supporting stats, gradient accent — the "dashboard starter kit"
  • Identical card grids: same-sized cards with icon + heading + text, repeated endlessly
  • Cards nested inside cards — visual noise, flatten the hierarchy
  • Everything centered — left-aligned text with asymmetric layouts feels more designed
  • Big rounded icons above every heading — they rarely add value, make sites look templated
  • Same spacing everywhere — without rhythm, layouts feel monotonous

The AI Visual Bag of Tricks

  • Glassmorphism everywhere — blur effects, glass cards, glow borders used decoratively
  • Rounded rectangles with generic drop shadows — safe, forgettable, could be any AI output
  • Rounded elements with thick colored border on one side — lazy accent
  • Sparklines as decoration — tiny charts that look sophisticated but convey nothing
  • Modals for everything — modals are lazy; there's almost always a better pattern

The AI Font Choice

  • Inter, Roboto, Arial, Open Sans everywhere — invisible defaults
  • Monospace typography as lazy shorthand for "technical/developer" vibes
  • Too many sizes too close together (14px, 15px, 16px, 18px) — creates muddy hierarchy

The AI Motion Pattern

  • Bounce or elastic easing — trendy in 2015, tacky now; real objects decelerate smoothly
  • Every button primary — use ghost buttons, text links, secondary styles; hierarchy matters
  • Redundant copy — headers that restate the heading, intros that repeat what users can see

How to Use This

Quick Audit (2 minutes)

Open your UI. Run through this checklist:

AI SLOP AUDIT — [project name]

Color:
[ ] Using cyan/purple/neon gradients?
[ ] Gradient text on headings?
[ ] Pure black or pure white background?
[ ] Dark mode with glowing accents?

Layout:
[ ] Hero metric "dashboard starter kit"?
[ ] Identical card grids?
[ ] Everything centered?
[ ] Cards nested inside cards?

Visuals:
[ ] Glassmorphism / glass cards?
[ ] Generic rounded rectangles with shadows?
[ ] Decorative sparklines?

Typography:
[ ] Inter/Roboto/Arial as only font?
[ ] Random monospace for "dev vibes"?
[ ] Muddy size hierarchy?

Motion:
[ ] Bounce/elastic easing?
[ ] Every button looks the same?

Score: [N] / 15 tells detected
  • 0-2 tells: You're fine. Ship it.
  • 3-5 tells: Review needed. These are fixable.
  • 6+ tells: The UI screams "AI made this." Redesign before shipping.

The Fix Pattern

For each tell you find, the fix is usually the opposite:

AI SlopFix
Gradient textSolid color, one accent
Everything centeredLeft-align body, asymmetric layout
GlassmorphismSolid backgrounds, subtle borders
Identical card gridVary card sizes, break the grid
Inter everywherePick one distinctive typeface
Bounce easingEase-out or custom cubic-bezier
All buttons primaryOne primary, rest ghost/text
Pure black bgTinted dark (#0a0a0f, #0d0f0e)

The Deeper Point

AI-generated UIs aren't bad because AI made them. They're bad because they're generic. They look like every other AI output because the models converge on the same "safe" patterns from training data.

The fix isn't "don't use AI for UI." The fix is: generate with AI, then apply taste. Remove the tells. Add the one distinctive choice that makes it yours. One unusual color. One unexpected layout break. One typeface nobody else is using.

Generic is the enemy. Distinctive is the goal.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Ai Slop Detection AI skill do?

Detect whether a UI looks AI-generated. Use during design review to run the fingerprint test: identifies the default-theme, gradient, and layout tells that make interfaces read as AI slop, and how to fix each one.

Why use Ai Slop Detection on TypingMind?

Because you install it once and use it with any model. Ai Slop Detection is plain Markdown rather than provider-specific code, so the same skill runs on GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model — and you can switch model mid-chat without it breaking. TypingMind runs on your own API keys, so you pay providers directly instead of a per-seat subscription, and your skills and chats stay in your own storage.

How do I install Ai Slop Detection in TypingMind?

Open Plugins → Skills → Install from GitHub in TypingMind and paste https://github.com/somnus0x/agt-skill-pack/tree/main/skills/ai-slop-detection. TypingMind reads its SKILL.md and bundles its files and installs it as a skill you can enable per chat.

Which AI models can use Ai Slop Detection?

Any model you connect in TypingMind. AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, and local models can all load this skill when a request matches it.

How many AI models can I use with Ai Slop Detection?

As many as you like. As long as a model supports skills, you can use Ai Slop Detection with it — GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama and more — all on TypingMind with your own API keys.

Is the Ai Slop Detection AI skill free?

Yes. It is published on GitHub by somnus0x under the Apache-2.0 license. You only pay your own AI provider for the tokens you use.

What are AI skills?

An AI skill is a reusable instruction bundle that teaches an AI model how to do one specific task. It follows the open Agent Skills format: a SKILL.md file with a name and description, plus any scripts, templates or reference files the model may need. The model reads the instructions only when your request matches the skill, so an installed skill costs nothing until it is used.

How are AI skills different from plugins or MCP servers?

A plugin or MCP server gives a model new tools to call — code that runs somewhere and returns a result. An AI skill gives the model knowledge and process instead: how to approach a task, which steps to follow, what good output looks like. Skills are plain Markdown, so they need no server, no API key and no runtime, and they work with any model.
