Onboards a new user — sets up their brand for the first time from their website. Analyzes the brand, finds its competitors, and saves both to the company profile that every later session reads from. Use when the user wants to onboard, get started, or set up their brand or company profile. Not for just analyzing a brand from its website — that is analyzing-brand.

  • Markdown instructions

A SKILL.md file the model loads on demand, so it only costs tokens when a request actually matches.

  • Works with any LLM

AI skills are plain Markdown, not provider-specific code, so this works with GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model.

  • 1 bundled files

Scripts, templates, and references the model can read while it works. Files are read-only and never executed.

  • Open source

Published by SupercmoHQ on GitHub. Read the source before you install it.

Installation

Install the Onboarding User AI skill in TypingMind to use it with any LLM, or drop it into another agent that reads SKILL.md.

1

Install in TypingMind

TypingMind installs a skill straight from its GitHub folder — it reads SKILL.md, bundles the resource files, and stores the result locally.

  1. Open the app and go to Plugins → Skills.
  2. Choose "Install from GitHub".
  3. Paste the skill folder URL below and confirm.
    https://github.com/SupercmoHQ/superCMO-skills/tree/main/skills/onboarding-user
  4. Enable the skill in any chat where you want it available.
Plugins → Skills → Add skill → From GitHub URL, then paste the folder URL and press Continue.
2

Install in another agent

Any agent that reads the Agent Skills format can use this skill — copy the folder into that agent's skills directory.

Claude Code — .claude/skills
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/SupercmoHQ/superCMO-skills.git /tmp/superCMO-skills
mkdir -p .claude/skills
cp -r /tmp/superCMO-skills/skills/onboarding-user .claude/skills/onboarding-user
Restart Claude Code after copying so it picks up the new skill.

Use it in TypingMind

Enable Onboarding User in any TypingMind chat and the model takes it from there. Its name and description sit in the system prompt, and the moment a request matches, the model loads the full instructions itself — you never invoke it by hand, and it costs no tokens until it is actually used.

The model loads Onboarding User on its own as soon as a request matches it.

Works with any AI model

AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so Onboarding User is not tied to the model it was written for. Install it once in TypingMind and use it with GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama, or a local model you run yourself — all on your own API keys.

  • Loaded only when it is needed

The system prompt carries just the name and description. The instructions are fetched on the first matching request, so an idle skill costs nothing.

  • Switch models mid-chat

Because the skill is instructions rather than code, changing model does not break it — the next model reads the same SKILL.md.

Skill instructions

This is the SKILL.md content the model loads. Read it before installing — a skill is instructions your model will follow.

Onboarding

Turn one website into a working brand profile, then hand the user their first next steps.

Workflow

Step 1: Get the website

First read brand.md in ./supercmo-company: where it already holds a brand, follow "The brand is already onboarded" below. Otherwise ask for the user's website, unless the conversation already carries it.

A user with no website still onboards. Ask what the brand is called, what it sells, and who buys it — plus anything they want to add about how it sounds or what sets it apart. A short answer is fine; they can give as much or as little as they like. Write what they give into the matching sections of brand.md in ./supercmo-company, leave the sections they didn't cover marked unconfirmed — needs user input, then skip the rest of the steps.

Step 2: Analyze the brand

First load everything the next two steps use in one step: analyzing-brand, its references/reading-the-brand.md, and identifying-competitors — not one after another.

Then trigger the analyzing-brand skill in quick mode with the website, and say onboarding is running it, so it asks the user nothing and skips its own hand-over. It writes ./supercmo-company/brand.md itself. Don't copy or re-save it; read it back where you need its contents for the summary.

Step 3: Identify the competitors

Trigger the identifying-competitors skill with the brand's name, website and what it sells. Say the run skips confirmation and that onboarding is running it, so it saves the shortlist without pausing and skips its own hand-over. It writes ./supercmo-company/competitors.md itself. Don't copy or re-save it.

Step 4: Show what was written

One summary for the whole run. Compact — not the files read back:

  • The brand: its name and what it sells, in a line.
  • The voice, in a sentence.
  • The audience, as the site evidenced it.
  • The competitors, as a plain list.
  • Where a section stayed unconfirmed, what the site didn't show — in one line.

Ask the user nothing. The profile is complete as written and the competitors are your pick; don't call them a draft or unconfirmed, and don't ask for corrections. Say they can change anything on the Brand page, or by telling you. Where they do, apply each change directly to the file in ./supercmo-company. Corrections are edits — patch the section that changed. Don't re-analyze the site, and don't re-run the sub-skill, to apply a correction.

Step 5: Suggest what to do next

Close with this list:

  • Create a UGC video — a creator-style video for your product.
  • Create a product ad video — a produced ad or commercial for your product.
  • Generate product photos — packshots and lifestyle shots from one product photo.
  • Research competitor ads — what's working in your category, and what nobody runs.

Edge cases

  • error: "no_provider_configured" on any tool → relay the tool's hint (the user must set their key).
  • The brand is already onboarded — brand.md exists in ./supercmo-company → don't re-run the analysis and don't ask anything. Summarize what is stored, say it can be changed on the Brand page, and close with Step 5's list. Still run Step 3 where competitors.md is missing: a half-finished onboarding gets completed, not restarted. Run it again only for a different website, or where the user asks to redo it. Then tell analyzing-brand to re-analyze, and where it is a different brand, replace brand.md and competitors.md rather than patching or merging them — the old brand's proof, voice and competitors must not carry over.
  • The site can't be read — analyzing-brand reports a failed read, a site that won't load, or a site that gave nothing usable → stop there; don't run Step 3, and don't guess the brand from its name. Ask once for a working URL, and say they can instead describe the brand (Step 1's no-website case).
  • A sub-skill runs but finds nothing — the competitor search names nobody → carry on with the steps that can run, say plainly what is missing, and still give the summary and the next steps.
  • The user asks to skip → stop, and say the brand can be set up any time by asking. Don't leave a partial profile behind.

Bundled files

The model reads these on demand while the skill is loaded. They are exposed as readable files and are never executed.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Onboarding User AI skill do?

Onboards a new user — sets up their brand for the first time from their website. Analyzes the brand, finds its competitors, and saves both to the company profile that every later session reads from. Use when the user wants to onboard, get started, or set up their brand or company profile. Not for just analyzing a brand from its website — that is analyzing-brand.

Why use Onboarding User on TypingMind?

Because you install it once and use it with any model. Onboarding User is plain Markdown rather than provider-specific code, so the same skill runs on GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model — and you can switch model mid-chat without it breaking. TypingMind runs on your own API keys, so you pay providers directly instead of a per-seat subscription, and your skills and chats stay in your own storage.

How do I install Onboarding User in TypingMind?

Open Plugins → Skills → Install from GitHub in TypingMind and paste https://github.com/SupercmoHQ/superCMO-skills/tree/main/skills/onboarding-user. TypingMind reads its SKILL.md and bundles its files and installs it as a skill you can enable per chat.

Which AI models can use Onboarding User?

Any model you connect in TypingMind. AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, and local models can all load this skill when a request matches it.

How many AI models can I use with Onboarding User?

As many as you like. As long as a model supports skills, you can use Onboarding User with it — GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama and more — all on TypingMind with your own API keys.

Is the Onboarding User AI skill free?

Yes. It is published on GitHub by SupercmoHQ under the Apache-2.0 license. You only pay your own AI provider for the tokens you use.

What are AI skills?

An AI skill is a reusable instruction bundle that teaches an AI model how to do one specific task. It follows the open Agent Skills format: a SKILL.md file with a name and description, plus any scripts, templates or reference files the model may need. The model reads the instructions only when your request matches the skill, so an installed skill costs nothing until it is used.

How are AI skills different from plugins or MCP servers?

A plugin or MCP server gives a model new tools to call — code that runs somewhere and returns a result. An AI skill gives the model knowledge and process instead: how to approach a task, which steps to follow, what good output looks like. Skills are plain Markdown, so they need no server, no API key and no runtime, and they work with any model.
