  • Markdown instructions

A SKILL.md file the model loads on demand, so it only costs tokens when a request actually matches.

  • Works with any LLM

AI skills are plain Markdown, not provider-specific code, so this works with GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model.

  • Self-contained

Everything the model needs lives in the instructions — no extra files to sync.

  • Open source

Published by vivy-yi on GitHub. Read the source before you install it.

Installation

Install the Jiaying Tool AI skill in TypingMind to use it with any LLM, or drop it into another agent that reads SKILL.md.

1

Install in TypingMind

TypingMind installs a skill straight from its GitHub folder — it reads SKILL.md, bundles the resource files, and stores the result locally.

  1. Open the app and go to Plugins → Skills.
  2. Choose "Install from GitHub".
  3. Paste the skill folder URL below and confirm.
    https://github.com/vivy-yi/xiaohongshu-skills/tree/main/skills/06-工具生态/jiaying-tool
  4. Enable the skill in any chat where you want it available.
Plugins → Skills → Add skill → From GitHub URL, then paste the folder URL and press Continue.

Use it in TypingMind

Enable Jiaying Tool in any TypingMind chat and the model takes it from there. Its name and description sit in the system prompt, and the moment a request matches, the model loads the full instructions itself — you never invoke it by hand, and it costs no tokens until it is actually used.

The model loads Jiaying Tool on its own as soon as a request matches it.

Works with any AI model

AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so Jiaying Tool is not tied to the model it was written for. Install it once in TypingMind and use it with GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama, or a local model you run yourself — all on your own API keys.

  • Loaded only when it is needed

The system prompt carries just the name and description. The instructions are fetched on the first matching request, so an idle skill costs nothing.

  • Switch models mid-chat

Because the skill is instructions rather than code, changing model does not break it — the next model reads the same SKILL.md.

Skill instructions

This is the SKILL.md content the model loads. Read it before installing — a skill is instructions your model will follow.

  4. Tap "Add" (添加) to import

Organize clips:

  • Drag to reorder clips
  • Preview full sequence
  • Trim unwanted parts (see Step 2)

Step 2: Trim and Cut Clips

Basic editing:

  1. Trim start/end: Tap clip, drag yellow handles
  2. Split clip: Tap clip → tap "Split" (分割) at playhead position
  3. Delete section: Tap unwanted section → tap "Delete" (删除)

Pro tip: Trim to 15-60 seconds for optimal Xiaohongshu performance (attention spans are short).

Step 3: Add Text and Subtitles

Add title:

  1. Tap "Text" (文字) button
  2. Choose text style (recommended: bold, white with black outline)
  3. Type title text
  4. Adjust size and position (center top or bottom)
  5. Set duration (when text appears/disappears)

Add subtitles:

  1. Tap "Text" → "Auto Captions" (自动识别字幕)
  2. Let AI transcribe audio (free feature)
  3. Edit mistakes if needed
  4. Choose subtitle style (white text, black outline recommended)
  5. Position at bottom (don't cover important content)

Text overlays:

  • Use sparingly (3-5 text overlays max per video)
  • Key info only (product names, prices, key tips)
  • Keep on screen 2-3 seconds minimum (readable)

Step 4: Add Music and Audio

Add background music:

  1. Tap "Audio" (音频) → "Music" (音乐)
  2. Browse or search for music
  3. Tap "+" to add to project
  4. Adjust volume (10-20% of voice volume)
  5. Trim music to match video length

Volume balancing:

  1. Tap "Volume" (音量) icon
  2. Set original audio to 100%
  3. Set music to 10-20% (background, not distraction)
  4. Preview to ensure voice is clear

Sound effects (optional):

  1. Tap "Audio" → "Effects" (音效)
  2. Add transitions sounds (whoosh, pop, etc.)
  3. Use sparingly (1-2 per video)

Step 5: Apply Effects and Filters

Color correction:

  1. Tap "Filters" (滤镜)
  2. Choose filter (recommended: "Natural" or "Bright")
  3. Adjust intensity (50-70% for subtle enhancement)

Effects (optional):

  1. Tap "Effects" (特效)
  2. Browse categories (beauty, blur, artistic, etc.)
  3. Tap effect to preview

Between clips:

  1. Tap transition icon between two clips
  2. Choose transition type:
    • "Fade" (淡入淡出) - subtle, professional
    • "Dissolve" (叠化) - smooth, elegant
    • "Wipe" (擦除) - dynamic, engaging
  3. Adjust duration (0.3-0.5 seconds recommended)

Pro tip: Use consistent transitions throughout video (don't mix many types).

Step 7: Adjust Speed (Optional)

Slow motion:

  1. Tap clip → tap "Speed" (变速)
  2. Choose speed below 1x (0.5x = half speed, 0.25x = quarter speed)
  3. Use for: dramatic moments, detailed demonstrations

Speed up:

  1. Tap clip → tap "Speed"
  2. Choose speed above 1x (2x = double speed)
  3. Use for: boring parts, processes, time-lapses

Pro tip: Use speed changes sparingly. Most content should be normal speed (1x).

Step 8: Export Video

Real-World Impact

Well-edited videos (real examples):

  • 15-second tutorial → 50K views (clear, fast, valuable)
  • 30-second before-and-after → 100K views (dramatic, engaging)
  • 60-second product review → 30K views (informative, well-structured)

Poorly edited videos:

  • 3-minute unedited take → 200 views (boring, slow)
  • No subtitles → 500 views (hard to understand, many mute)
  • Music too loud → 300 views (annoying, closed quickly)

Key metric: Well-edited videos get 5-10x more views than raw footage.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Jiaying Tool AI skill do?

Use when editing videos for Xiaohongshu, creating short video content, adding effects and transitions to videos, or needing to add subtitles and music to video clips

Why use Jiaying Tool on TypingMind?

Because you install it once and use it with any model. Jiaying Tool is plain Markdown rather than provider-specific code, so the same skill runs on GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model — and you can switch model mid-chat without it breaking. TypingMind runs on your own API keys, so you pay providers directly instead of a per-seat subscription, and your skills and chats stay in your own storage.

How do I install Jiaying Tool in TypingMind?

Open Plugins → Skills → Install from GitHub in TypingMind and paste https://github.com/vivy-yi/xiaohongshu-skills/tree/main/skills/06-工具生态/jiaying-tool. TypingMind reads its SKILL.md and installs it as a skill you can enable per chat.

Which AI models can use Jiaying Tool?

Any model you connect in TypingMind. AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, and local models can all load this skill when a request matches it.

How many AI models can I use with Jiaying Tool?

As many as you like. As long as a model supports skills, you can use Jiaying Tool with it — GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama and more — all on TypingMind with your own API keys.

Is the Jiaying Tool AI skill free?

It is published on GitHub by vivy-yi. Check the repository for licensing terms. You only pay your own AI provider for the tokens you use.

What are AI skills?

An AI skill is a reusable instruction bundle that teaches an AI model how to do one specific task. It follows the open Agent Skills format: a SKILL.md file with a name and description, plus any scripts, templates or reference files the model may need. The model reads the instructions only when your request matches the skill, so an installed skill costs nothing until it is used.

How are AI skills different from plugins or MCP servers?

A plugin or MCP server gives a model new tools to call — code that runs somewhere and returns a result. An AI skill gives the model knowledge and process instead: how to approach a task, which steps to follow, what good output looks like. Skills are plain Markdown, so they need no server, no API key and no runtime, and they work with any model.
