Use this skill when the founder wants AI-written content to sound like them: 'set up my voice,' 'make content sound like me,' 'create my founder profile,' 'about me,' or 'my background.' Creates ABOUT-ME.md in the project root with testable voice rules, opinions, and stories that content, outreach, and landing-page work can use. Not for customer profiles (use validate), for editing existing text (use humanize), or for visual identity (use beautify).

  • Markdown instructions

A SKILL.md file the model loads on demand, so it only costs tokens when a request actually matches.

  • Works with any LLM

AI skills are plain Markdown, not provider-specific code, so this works with GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model.

  • Self-contained

Everything the model needs lives in the instructions — no extra files to sync.

  • Open source

Published by whawkinsiv on GitHub. Read the source before you install it.

Installation

Install the About Me AI skill in TypingMind to use it with any LLM, or drop it into another agent that reads SKILL.md.

1

Install in TypingMind

TypingMind installs a skill straight from its GitHub folder — it reads SKILL.md, bundles the resource files, and stores the result locally.

  1. Open the app and go to Plugins → Skills.
  2. Choose "Install from GitHub".
  3. Paste the skill folder URL below and confirm.
    https://github.com/whawkinsiv/solo-founder-skills/tree/main/skills/about-me
  4. Enable the skill in any chat where you want it available.
Plugins → Skills → Add skill → From GitHub URL, then paste the folder URL and press Continue.
2

Install in another agent

Any agent that reads the Agent Skills format can use this skill — copy the folder into that agent's skills directory.

Claude Code — .claude/skills
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/whawkinsiv/solo-founder-skills.git /tmp/solo-founder-skills
mkdir -p .claude/skills
cp -r /tmp/solo-founder-skills/skills/about-me .claude/skills/about-me
Restart Claude Code after copying so it picks up the new skill.

Use it in TypingMind

Enable About Me in any TypingMind chat and the model takes it from there. Its name and description sit in the system prompt, and the moment a request matches, the model loads the full instructions itself — you never invoke it by hand, and it costs no tokens until it is actually used.

The model loads About Me on its own as soon as a request matches it.

Works with any AI model

AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so About Me is not tied to the model it was written for. Install it once in TypingMind and use it with GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama, or a local model you run yourself — all on your own API keys.

  • Loaded only when it is needed

The system prompt carries just the name and description. The instructions are fetched on the first matching request, so an idle skill costs nothing.

  • Switch models mid-chat

Because the skill is instructions rather than code, changing model does not break it — the next model reads the same SKILL.md.

Skill instructions

This is the SKILL.md content the model loads. Read it before installing — a skill is instructions your model will follow.

About Me

Create ABOUT-ME.md: a short file that captures how the founder writes, what they know, and what they believe. Skills that write in the founder's voice read it: content, first-customers, landing-page, and humanize.

The brain dump is itself a voice sample. Analyze how the founder writes, not only what they say.

Steps

If ABOUT-ME.md exists

Ask what changed. Update those sections. Do not start over.

Step 1: Collect the brain dump

Tell me about yourself, like you're explaining to a smart friend who needs to write as you. Cover what feels important: what you do and how you got here, what you know that most people don't, strong opinions about your industry, a few stories that shaped you, where you already have an audience, and what you're great at versus what you'd rather not do.

Let them write. Do not interrupt.

Step 2: Check for voice signal

Can you list at least 4 testable writing patterns from what they gave you? A pattern is testable if you could check a paragraph against it and answer yes or no.

  • Testable: "Uses short sentences." "Opens with the point." "Never uses 'furthermore'."
  • Not testable: "Authentic voice." "Relatable."

If you cannot list 4, ask for more signal:

I can see what you're saying, but I can't hear how you say it yet. Either of these helps: write one of those stories out in full, stream of consciousness, or paste 2–3 things you've already written (posts, emails, Slack messages). Raw beats polished.

Do not continue until you have 4 patterns. A faked Communication Style section makes every downstream skill produce the same generic founder voice.

Step 3: Synthesize

You are not a transcription service.

  1. Name the patterns the founder did not name. Five products that each solve the founder's own problem is a "scratch your own itch" pattern. Say so.
  2. Turn activities into knowledge. "Submitted to 100 directories" is an activity. What they learned from it is expertise. If they did not say what they learned, ask.
  3. Write voice rules, not adjectives. Delete any line that uses these words or phrases: "direct and no-nonsense," "authentic," "relatable," "down-to-earth," "conversational," "passionate," "thought leader," "values transparency," "real talk." They describe every founder, so they describe no founder.
  4. Run the swap test. Could this Communication Style section belong to another founder without anyone noticing? If yes, rewrite it, or go back to Step 2.
  5. Sharpen opinions. "Building > talking" is a t-shirt. "Most founders waste months planning when a weekend v1 would answer the question" is an opinion a post can use.
  6. Attach a lesson to every story.

Step 4: Ask 3–4 follow-up questions

Pick from these, based on what is missing:

  • "What's a specific win you're proud of? What made it happen?"
  • "What did you try that failed? What did it cost?"
  • "What's an opinion of yours that people in your field would disagree with?"
  • "Paste 2–3 things you wrote that sound most like you."
  • "How big is your audience on the platform you mentioned?"

Step 5: Present and write

Show the draft and ask: "Does this sound like you? What's wrong or missing?" Revise. Write the file to the project root when the founder approves.

Template

# About Me

## Who I Am
[1–3 sentences. The pattern behind what they build, not a resume.]

## Domain Expertise
[What they know that most people don't. Knowledge, not activities.]

## Communication Style
[Testable rules only. Quote their real phrases. List what they would never say.
If there are not enough samples, write: "Insufficient samples — update after more writing."]

## Opinions
[Specific positions someone could disagree with.]

## Stories & Lessons
[Each story: what happened, and what it proved.]

## Presence & Distribution
[Platforms and audience sizes. Say "starting from zero" where true.]

## Strengths & Gaps
["Can build a full-stack app in a weekend," not "technical."]

Rules

  • Keep the file under 60 lines of content. A long file gets skimmed, and a skimmed file does not change the output.
  • Every line must give a skill something it could not guess. Delete restatements of what the founder said.
  • A rough file now beats a perfect one later. The voice will change as the founder learns what lands with customers.

Output

ABOUT-ME.md in the project root, approved by the founder, with at least 4 testable Communication Style rules.

Frequently asked questions

What does the About Me AI skill do?

Use this skill when the founder wants AI-written content to sound like them: 'set up my voice,' 'make content sound like me,' 'create my founder profile,' 'about me,' or 'my background.' Creates ABOUT-ME.md in the project root with testable voice rules, opinions, and stories that content, outreach, and landing-page work can use. Why use About Me on TypingMind?

Because you install it once and use it with any model. About Me is plain Markdown rather than provider-specific code, so the same skill runs on GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model — and you can switch model mid-chat without it breaking. TypingMind runs on your own API keys, so you pay providers directly instead of a per-seat subscription, and your skills and chats stay in your own storage.

How do I install About Me in TypingMind?

Open Plugins → Skills → Install from GitHub in TypingMind and paste https://github.com/whawkinsiv/solo-founder-skills/tree/main/skills/about-me. TypingMind reads its SKILL.md and installs it as a skill you can enable per chat.

Which AI models can use About Me?

Any model you connect in TypingMind. AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, and local models can all load this skill when a request matches it.

How many AI models can I use with About Me?

As many as you like. As long as a model supports skills, you can use About Me with it — GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama and more — all on TypingMind with your own API keys.

Is the About Me AI skill free?

Yes. It is published on GitHub by whawkinsiv under the MIT license. You only pay your own AI provider for the tokens you use.

What are AI skills?

An AI skill is a reusable instruction bundle that teaches an AI model how to do one specific task. It follows the open Agent Skills format: a SKILL.md file with a name and description, plus any scripts, templates or reference files the model may need. The model reads the instructions only when your request matches the skill, so an installed skill costs nothing until it is used.

How are AI skills different from plugins or MCP servers?

A plugin or MCP server gives a model new tools to call — code that runs somewhere and returns a result. An AI skill gives the model knowledge and process instead: how to approach a task, which steps to follow, what good output looks like. Skills are plain Markdown, so they need no server, no API key and no runtime, and they work with any model.
