A Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for Genesys Cloud's Platform API.

Usage with Claude Desktop

MCP Bundle

This MCP Server provides an MCP Bundle (.mcpb file) along with each release, which is a single-click installable package for Claude Desktop. To use it:

Download the .mcpb file from the latest release
In Claude Desktop navigate to Settings > Extensions.
Open the .mcpb file with Claude
Configure the Region and OAuth Client for the extension

The extension will now be available in your conversations.

Authentication

This currently only supports a stdio server. To configure authentication you'll need to:

Create an OAuth Client in Genesys Cloud
Assign the permissions to it for the tools you want to be used
Provide the following environment variables when referencing the server:
- GENESYSCLOUD_REGION
- GENESYSCLOUD_OAUTHCLIENT_ID
- GENESYSCLOUD_OAUTHCLIENT_SECRET

This is part of personal project to create a conversational Business Insights tool. It is a practical way for me to learn MCP servers, and how best to represent Genesys Cloud's Platform APIs in a way that can be easily consumed by LLMs.

Use Genesys Cloud MCP with multiple AI models

TypingMind connects MCP tools at the workspace level, so once Genesys Cloud is connected, you can use it with different AI models in TypingMind instead of setting it up separately for each model. This MCP runs locally through the TypingMind MCP connector on your device.

Setup guide to use the local connector

Use this when the MCP server needs access to local files, apps, or private resources on your computer.

Open the MCP settings

In TypingMind, go to Settings, Advanced Settings, then Model Context Protocol and choose Setup Connector.

Open TypingMind in your browser.
Click the Settings icon.
Go to Advanced Settings.
Open the Model Context Protocol section.
Click Setup Connector and choose This Device.

Run the connector command

Choose This Device, copy the command from TypingMind, and run it in Terminal. Keep the process running while you use MCP.

Copy the setup command shown by TypingMind.
Open Terminal on macOS or Windows Terminal on Windows.
Paste and run the command.
Approve the package install if Terminal asks you to proceed.
Keep the Terminal window running while using MCP tools.

Add Genesys Cloud as a server

When the connector status is Ready, click Edit Servers and paste the MCP server configuration.

Wait until the connector status shows Ready.
Click Edit Servers.
Paste the Genesys Cloud MCP server configuration.
Save the server list.
Refresh if you want to confirm the connector is still ready.

Use it across models

Save the server list, open Plugins, enable the Genesys Cloud MCP tools, then select any supported AI model in TypingMind and use the tools in chat or assign them to an AI agent.

Open the Plugins page in TypingMind.
Enable the Genesys Cloud MCP tools.
Start a chat and choose the AI model you want to use.
Use the MCP tools in chat or assign them to an AI agent.
Switch to another AI model whenever needed without reconnecting MCP.
