  • Markdown instructions

A SKILL.md file the model loads on demand, so it only costs tokens when a request actually matches.

  • Works with any LLM

AI skills are plain Markdown, not provider-specific code, so this works with GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model.

  • Self-contained

Everything the model needs lives in the instructions — no extra files to sync.

  • Open source

Published by arpitbbhayani on GitHub. Read the source before you install it.

Installation

Install the Array Ui Review AI skill in TypingMind to use it with any LLM, or drop it into another agent that reads SKILL.md.

1

Install in TypingMind

TypingMind installs a skill straight from its GitHub folder — it reads SKILL.md, bundles the resource files, and stores the result locally.

  1. Open the app and go to Plugins → Skills.
  2. Choose "Install from GitHub".
  3. Paste the skill folder URL below and confirm.
    https://github.com/arpitbbhayani/ape-skills/tree/master/ape-design-review
  4. Enable the skill in any chat where you want it available.
Plugins → Skills → Add skill → From GitHub URL, then paste the folder URL and press Continue.
2

Install in another agent

Any agent that reads the Agent Skills format can use this skill — copy the folder into that agent's skills directory.

Claude Code — .claude/skills
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/arpitbbhayani/ape-skills.git /tmp/ape-skills
mkdir -p .claude/skills
cp -r /tmp/ape-skills/ape-design-review .claude/skills/array-ui-review
Restart Claude Code after copying so it picks up the new skill.

Use it in TypingMind

Enable Array Ui Review in any TypingMind chat and the model takes it from there. Its name and description sit in the system prompt, and the moment a request matches, the model loads the full instructions itself — you never invoke it by hand, and it costs no tokens until it is actually used.

The model loads Array Ui Review on its own as soon as a request matches it.

Works with any AI model

AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so Array Ui Review is not tied to the model it was written for. Install it once in TypingMind and use it with GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama, or a local model you run yourself — all on your own API keys.

  • Loaded only when it is needed

The system prompt carries just the name and description. The instructions are fetched on the first matching request, so an idle skill costs nothing.

  • Switch models mid-chat

Because the skill is instructions rather than code, changing model does not break it — the next model reads the same SKILL.md.

Skill instructions

This is the SKILL.md content the model loads. Read it before installing — a skill is instructions your model will follow.

Array UI Review (array-ui-review)

Audit technical frontend code and running pages against the Array UI design rules. Do not restyle code while auditing; list every violation with file and line number, state the invariant it violates, and provide a one-line fix.

1. Automated Code Searches

Run these audit commands across src/ (or the project root):

bash
# 1. Custom CSS files (Violates Invariant 1: 0% Custom CSS)
find src/ -name "*.css" ! -name "globals.css" ! -name "styles.css" ! -name "tokens.css" ! -name "shadcn.css"

# 2. Page-level <style> blocks (Violates Invariant 1: 0% Custom CSS)
grep -rnE "<style" src/

# 3. Ad-hoc inline margin/padding hacks (Must use <Gutter> or Layout primitives)
grep -rnE "style=\{\{[^}]*(margin|padding|background|color)" src/

# 4. Heavy drop shadows (Array UI uses flat card surfaces with 1px hairlines)
grep -rnE "shadow-(md|lg|xl|2xl)" src/

# 5. Arbitrary gradients (Gradients are strictly prohibited)
grep -rnE "bg-gradient-to|from-[a-z]+-[0-9]+|to-[a-z]+-[0-9]+" src/

# 6. Bouncy / pill buttons (Buttons must be machined with radius-md / 6px)
grep -rnE "rounded-full|rounded-2xl|rounded-3xl" src/

# 7. Unwrapped action buttons or status indicators (Must be wrapped in <Tooltip>)
# Check for bare <Button>, <ThemeToggle>, or <PingStatus> without a parent <Tooltip>
grep -rnE "<Button|<ThemeToggle|<PingStatus" src/

# 8. Outdated dark crimson (#e60012 must be #ff3344 in dark mode)
grep -rnE "#e60012" src/

2. Visual & Architectural Invariants Checklist

  1. Font Enforcement:
    • Is Google Fonts (Assistant, IBM Plex Mono, Lora) imported in globals.css or <head>?
    • Does body have font-family: var(--font-sans)?
    • If missing, text defaults to system Inter/Arial, breaking the editorial look.
  2. PageShell Usage:
    • Is the page framed inside <PageShell navbar={<Navbar ... />} footer={<Footer ... />}>?
    • If a page has custom ad-hoc layout wrappers or manual margins, flag for replacement with PageShell.
  3. Footer Elegance:
    • Is the footer rendered on flat canvas (bg-background) with border-t border-border?
    • Are links inline with subtle hints (hint), without heavy box badges stretching the row?
    • Are social handles rendered using <SocialPill>s with tooltips?
  4. Visual Rhythm (Anti-Card-Soup):
    • Are there consecutive stacks of identical cards or symmetric blocks?
    • Did the page alternate prose with dense telemetry (Terminal, DiffBlock, ParamTable) and editorial quotes (Maxim)?
  5. Action Clarity (Tooltip Wrapping):
    • Is every action button, icon trigger, theme toggle, and status dot wrapped in <Tooltip content="...">?

3. Reporting Format

Output findings as a prioritized numbered list:

1. src/pages/index.tsx:34 Bare icon button without <Tooltip>.
Rule: Every interactive control must be wrapped in <Tooltip>.
   Fix: Wrap <Button size="icon"> in <Tooltip content="Copy commit SHA (⌘C)">.

2. src/app/globals.css:1 Missing Google Fonts import for Assistant and IBM Plex Mono.
   Rule: Mandatory Font Enforcement.
   Fix: Add @import url("https://fonts.googleapis.com/css2?family=Assistant:wght@400;500;600;700;800&family=IBM+Plex+Mono:ital,wght@0,400;0,500;0,600;0,700;1,400&family=Lora:ital,wght@0,400..700;1,400..700&display=swap");

3. src/components/Footer.tsx:18 Footer uses bg-card/60 with heavy padding.
Rule: Footer must sit on flat canvas (bg-background) with hairline top border.
Fix: Replace background with bg-background and ensure links are inline with subtle hints.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Array Ui Review AI skill do?

Review UI code or a running page against the Array UI (array-ui) editorial systems rules (0% custom CSS, hairline borders, Assistant typography, signature crimson, tooltip wrapping, and arpitbhayani.me footer aesthetic) and report what breaks them with file and line. Use when the user asks to review, audit, check, or polish UI built with Array UI or @aui components. Pairs with the array-ui skill.

Why use Array Ui Review on TypingMind?

Because you install it once and use it with any model. Array Ui Review is plain Markdown rather than provider-specific code, so the same skill runs on GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a local model — and you can switch model mid-chat without it breaking. TypingMind runs on your own API keys, so you pay providers directly instead of a per-seat subscription, and your skills and chats stay in your own storage.

How do I install Array Ui Review in TypingMind?

Open Plugins → Skills → Install from GitHub in TypingMind and paste https://github.com/arpitbbhayani/ape-skills/tree/master/ape-design-review. TypingMind reads its SKILL.md and installs it as a skill you can enable per chat.

Which AI models can use Array Ui Review?

Any model you connect in TypingMind. AI skills are plain Markdown instructions rather than provider-specific code, so GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, and local models can all load this skill when a request matches it.

How many AI models can I use with Array Ui Review?

As many as you like. As long as a model supports skills, you can use Array Ui Review with it — GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama and more — all on TypingMind with your own API keys.

Is the Array Ui Review AI skill free?

Yes. It is published on GitHub by arpitbbhayani under the MIT license. You only pay your own AI provider for the tokens you use.

What are AI skills?

An AI skill is a reusable instruction bundle that teaches an AI model how to do one specific task. It follows the open Agent Skills format: a SKILL.md file with a name and description, plus any scripts, templates or reference files the model may need. The model reads the instructions only when your request matches the skill, so an installed skill costs nothing until it is used.

How are AI skills different from plugins or MCP servers?

A plugin or MCP server gives a model new tools to call — code that runs somewhere and returns a result. An AI skill gives the model knowledge and process instead: how to approach a task, which steps to follow, what good output looks like. Skills are plain Markdown, so they need no server, no API key and no runtime, and they work with any model.
